No, tunneling is not prohibited. No idea which trick you mean, but if it's not an exploit or a hack, it's allowed.
Rule of thumb: Never trust an opponent who tells you something is "forbidden".

I assume hatch trick is the bug that allows you to sometimes know where hatch is because you can walk over it before it's spawned and notice the invisible collision on the floor, which is not forbidden.

This. If someone tells you something is forbidden, always check the official sources, like the TOS of the game.

If I were to guess, they would wait by the Hatch as the Killer and wait for the Survivor to get nearby (hearing footsteps) or reveal their location through a generator getting popped and the close the hatch.

Its not against the rules, its just frowned upon by most.

I'm not talking about situational tunneling, especially mid-to late game. I'm talking about killers who do it right off the bat as soon as a game starts (they usually end up losing the match because of it too). And yes, its frowned upon by most. I say GG too or understand why it happens in specific situations but that doesn't mean its not frowned upon and/or a sh*t feeling.

I use to make similar posts all the time whenever I got salty EGC messages. I got a good laugh out of the mental gymnastics some people go through to try to complain about how I played or the excuses on why they lost. I remember a guy complaining about being tunneled when he was the last one alive and I caught him trying to open the exit gates...

Realistically with the overused joke aside - Play how you want dude. If you want to tunnel and facecamp someone out of the game just for looking at you funny then do it. What are they going to do? Cry about you on the forums? I'd wear that as a badge of honor. Someone got so butthurt over me playing the game they made a forum post about me. In fact I'm used to that but that was when I played shooters - Used to get accused of aimbotting all the time because I'd consistently headshot people in any game the moment they entered my FOV. Same premise though people found a way to complain about me instead of adapting to the game and getting better. If a survivor can't make use of all the resources on the map if you were really hard focusing them then that's their fault and that's also their teams fault for not recognizing it.
Play how you want and enjoy the game.

No and 9/10 times players say tunneling and dont even know what they are talking about. they are just upset. If you stand near hooks and go for quick saves and get hooked twice early, that is not tunneling. Also it is a viable strat. There are several unfun strategies for both sides. Doesnt make it right or wrong. Super stealthy survivors who hide before or during endgame to deny downs or whatever are also griefing. Just have fun with it and dont worry about it when you have the occasional unfun game. Go next and just keep improving and having fun playing.
