Hex Undying keeping perk effect?
I broke a hex totem at the very beginning of a match and it said that the haunted ground effect went off and we were exposed. After I then cleansed 2 more hexes, haunted grounds, and ruin. When i cleansed haunted grounds we were exposed again. At the end of the match the killer had undying, bbq and chili, ruin, and haunted. This makes me think that when i first broke the hex (undying) it gave us the exposed status of haunted grounds.

Yeah sadly that is how undying works.
The way Haunted works is you have 2 hex totems and when one of the m gets cleansed, survivors get exposed
The way how Undying works is, once a hex totem is cleansed, it gets transferred to the undying totem instead.
So technically any hex you cleanse just get re-activated with its current tokens.
So first time you get hexed by haunted it also immediately transfers to undying totem and when you cleanse that one, you get exposed again bc it is technically haunted again.
It is sad and stupid if you ask me, but sadly that is how it works.

You don't know which hex totem is related to which perk, if you cleanse Undying first it will do nothing, but if you cleanse Haunted first you'll get exposed status effect and Undying becomes another Haunted so if you cleanse it again you will be exposed twice.
