RE fans, are you happy with the DLC?
Personally I'm glad I don't like RE much because I would feel so ashamed of the DLC. F tier killer and map. Just unfun all around. I'm curious if it pleased the RE fans though.

Not at all. They picked the most boring option for killer, and made him the least interesting killer in the game to play against. Then, they added Jill, who is such an uninspired pick. Lastly, they added a map which looks great, but is awful to play on for both sides. One of the worst dlcs ever for sure, and I’d say even worse than a binding of kin and all kill.

Bit of a stretch to say Nemesis is F tier.. but overall I’m happy to have RE in the game. Think we got some fun new perks, and I love getting to play as Jill. I realllly would like them to maybe split the RPD map into two separate maps so it wasn’t such a nightmare.. but other than that I’m pretty happy with the chapter.

Nope was bored of the chapter after like 2 days

As a big Resi Evil fan since I was a toddler I'm satisfied considering how bad the chapter could've been. Only thing that really sucks was how much the chapter ######### console players. The chapter itself though is great. Nemmy is a solid killer and Leon and Jill are both fan favorites. Some cool perks too like lethal pursuer which is pretty useful with omega blink and eruption which is decent regression. Flashbang and blast mine are good fun for the survivors as well. Overall chapter was pretty good. Definitely could've been worse (speaking for the chapter itself not how bad it screwed console).
Edit: The map does suck to play on though. Did we really need another indoor map?

Being a old school resident evil fan i would have done some things differently i would go all in on number 2 leon and claire as the survivors ... Hunk and ada as legendary skins ... William birkin or mr x as the killer and possibly the street as the map

I'm happy! Though I wouldn't say I am die hard fan. Most of my RE experience has been through the movies.
I love the RPD map. At first I thought is was a disaster but now that I have it memorized it is so much fun!
The survivors are great and I love all the perks (Resurgence is my fav).
As for Nemesis, I really like him but I can see why people are disappointed in him. I am still learning how to play him and tho I'm not very good I think he is fun ^^

Jill is one of my favourite characters so I'm really happy they added her!
I have personally always found Leon to be very overrated as a character, same with the RCPD location. The chapter would have been perfect for me if the map was the Mansion from resident evil 1 remake. I also loved the Original RE3 so Nemesis is a win for me.
However, the rocky launch of the chapter with the map being disabled for an entire month disappointed me. Luckily I play on PC so wasn't affected by the console issues.

I am extremely happy. The map is... Beautiful, I guess. I love it as survivor, at least. I didn't buy Leon or Jill, but I get to kill them all the time. So that's nice.
Nemesis is probably my second favorite killer behind Freddy. He just has so many layers and is super fun to play. His music is lit and the games feel really fast paced with all the vision and slowdown built into his kit.
The chapter itself had a lot of performance issues and the event was a little bland, but at least I was able to finish most licensed killers during the event. Still need lightborn on Pig and Michael is only level 34 (didn't want his perk to dilute the pool for Pinhead).
1 -
I liked the Chapter but being a PS4 player the experience was ruined for me to fully enjoy it completely
4 -
Claire is my favorite character from RE so I’m glad they added her as a skin for Jill. The content was great but the performance ruined the experience.
3 -
I think they need to make small tweaks and addon changes. With ai improvements and he is perfect

I don't like it.
Nemesis was a bad pick for an RE killer. Birkin, Jack, and Heisenberg to name a few would have all worked much better.
The R.P.D was a bad pick for an RE map. The outskirts of Spencer Mansion, the Villages from 4 or 8, and the Baker Estate would have all worked better.
Leon and Jill are fine, and I actually like their perks, but that's really the only good in the chapter in my eyes. Everything else is boring to meh.
Not to mention, the actual release of the chapter itself was horrible. It broke consoles, and the R.P.D was unplayable for weeks.
7 -
I'm mostly disappointed with the execution of it all. I think the survivors turned out pretty well, and the 2 picks were good ones. Perks for them were pretty well done. I think RPD map was a good pick for location, and Nemmy was one of the obvious choices for killer
But the map is a nightmare gameplay-wise, and should be cut into 2 or 3 smaller maps. It is unreal that they didn't see how making a near 1 to 1 copy of that map would not translate well to DBD
And this feels like the lamest incarnation of Nemmy. No sprinting, no rocket launcher. Just a worse version of PH with barely functioning AI zombies tacked on. I would've taken literally any other potential RE killer over this version of Nemmy. Mr. X or Jack Baker or Birkin
I guess when I look at the RE chapter, I'm just disappointed because it could've been so much better than it was. The only reason I play Nemmy anymore is to use my bajillion cakes on him. Once those are gone, I'll probably never have any reason to play him again
2 -
I like re but all the performance issues that came with re chapter ruined it for me. And not a big fan of claires model at all.
Also disliking the map and don't think it fits in dbd.
1 -
I'm a tad bit disappointed we got her og RE3 outfit instead of her RE1 S.T.A.R.S. uniform. Hopefully that gets added in the future.

Nemesis has such a lame power,it's just Plague and Pyramid Head slapped together.
The map is horrible, the survivors are ok though.
0 -
Resident evil is one of my favourite games, i useto speedrun the old RE GAMES and this dlc is a big dissapointment to me. The killer playstyle isnt fun to me and the map is literally terrible. i never want to play on it.
1 -
And the console performances... Oh boy.
I like RpD being the choosen map, but I hate its execution. Boring to play for both sides, nulify a lot of killer powers... But it can be fun for sneaky non competitive players.
Nemesis without a rocket launcher, downsized, not sprinting and relying only on its tentacle is a joke to me. Is that umbrella's ultimate weapon to chase down Stars ? Not even close... The AI of zombies is trash. The addons are for the most part useless...
The chase music doesnt even have any OG drums or theme gimmick in it...
Survivors are ok. I dont like Re4 Leon's face model but what can you do, its Capcom s IP. Perks are meh, release performance were awful.
I dont know, feels rushed.

Now I haven’t bought it but I am a huge RE fan so I’m just gonna say not really. It’s cool seeing Leon and Jill and all but nemesis is kinda boring to play against (I dig the zombies) and RCPD still lags at unplayable levels for me. But the content is there and there’s room for additions! *add spencer manor*

I was excited but I literally can't feel by any way I'm playing Resident Evil characters because Jill and Leon are like every survivor with voices that don't belong to them and Nemesis feels kinda weak (compared to the RE3 game)
0 -
i think they choosed the right things but the execution was bad. RPD was my biggest wish, Nemesis is a great choice for me (i played Re2 and 3 back then). But he plays kinda boring, not a really interesting power design and i'm tired of ranged killers. Even though the idea with the zombies is good. He is iconic as is the RPD and i like the sound snippets they putted into some rooms (which has bell sounds like the original RPD soundtrack). BUT the map is absolutely horrible to play. It will need ages to get good on it. They should have got more creative and not just copied the original map into the game. If they would have made it more like Midwich (symmetric, logic design, middle sized) it would be fine.

It's a tricky one. The positives were the choice of character, and some of the perks are amazing, especially "Leathal Pursuer". Nemesis was my prefered killer, and the zombie AI makes for a fun and interesting addition.
However, Nemesis' power besides the zombies felt weak in practice. The idea of mutation was good, but it was just badly designed. Any boost in mutation doesn't really do much, and infected survivors really don't have much of a draw back from it.
Having something like the virus potentially consuming the survivor if not cured, have the zombies just injure or down the survivor instead of wasting a hit for infection, have Nemesis become faster and stronger with mutations, instead of just a whip, or heck, even a "summon Mori", whereby Nemesis can call on both zombies to approach a downed survivor and munch them into oblivion would be something to be concerned with! His power was far too weak for such a powerful killer.
Also, the bugs when the chapter came out and map issues were just a mess.
Overall, the immediate and short-term response was unfavourable. It's felt a bit better as time went on, but really the Chapter was held above water by the perks and AI inclusion. It felt like Nemesis wasn't given justice.

Nemesis F tier...lmao B tier at worst, but I'd argue A.
There are some easy buffs to consolidate him moreso into this spot, too: primarily, a rework of his tiers needs to be done, imo. Tier 1 is just too weak.
0 -
As an RE fan...ngl this ######### was kinda disappointing. I don't really give a damn about the RE survivors since 100% of survivor gameplay is just copy pasted. Once you've played one, you've played them all.
Nemesis on the otherhand...has to be one of the, if not the worst licensed killer by actual performance they've ever put out. The zombies are a great idea though.
1 -
Nemesis wasn't as powerful as i had hoped, but aesthetically i am very pleased with him. Hes loud and brutal as he should be, he honors the true nemesis quite decently.
2 -
I just waited with cravings for Leon and I didn't care who was the killer or not. But that was debated between Mr. X and Nemesis, but in the end Nemesis disappointed me with its Tier 2 and Tier 3. It is basically the same but faster and instead of 5 meters, 6 meters away ??? So I'm happy to have Leon but disappointed with the power of Nemesis.
0 -
Yes and no.
Zombies are a bad addition. RNG has no place in the potential of a killer's mechanics, especially when it can be very oppressive.
Tier 1 for Nemesis is very meh; I'd rather they change the power curve for the tiers a little bit for this reason.
Also I think some of the more pointless add-ons could be replaced to add some range add-ons, up to maybe a maximum of 8-10 meters at tier 3, depending on how it affects balance.
The Claire skin is also disappointing; it looks like she's eaten bees and in dire need of some antihistamines.
Overall, perk options are decent, can't complain, for both sides. Lethal Pursuer and Flashbang are some of my favourite new perks.
Jill and Leon both look great, the prestige skins are also pretty good, although I don't feel the voice for Leon fits, but that's very minor and probably just my opinion tbh (it feels like he appeals to Steve players and we all know that stereotype :P )
I think Nemesis is pretty strong, albeit oppressive to play against (a catch 22 which I'm not that happy with, but at least he's fun and satisfying to play as)
His M1 feels weirdly weak, so I'm not sure where they're going with that, but again, it's a minor audio/visual decision that I just personally don't like.
So yeah, as far as adding a killer I'd play, it's a success.
As for as perks for both sides, 100% a positive DLC.
It could do with some tweaking, but as far as a DBD DLC goes, this was a good one, even if it is hampered by the legacy of the bug ridden patch that it came with.
I got the 3 characters I wanted for survivors, although one of those 3 I won't be getting the skin for until it's been changed.

I liked the chapter. The biggest hype with chapters is the announcement itself, then the reveal via ptb, then you get it in the actual game and it's done. This leaves a lot of chapters feeling underwhelming but this is a DBD DLC we're talking about, so it's not gonna be anything super huge. I like that we got a new map, and I have few issues with its design. I like Leon and Jill getting in the game, even though I prefer their pre-remake looks more. Same with Nemesis. Nemesis is also an addicting killer. Good perks all around. I just hated the launch, because I could barely play the game.
0 -
I hate this chapter.
The map is the worst in the game by far (I can't even appreciate the visuals because I know that they caused the framerate issues for so long and still do), Nemesis is definitely underpowered and uninspired with awful addons and pretty middle-of-the-road perks (apart from the pile of ######### that is Hysteria), and while I like Jill and Leon a whole lot, especially their perks, even they can't make up for the completely horrible interpretation of what is the more important bits of this chapter.
This is the worst chapter in the game, by far.
5 -
It's probably my second favorite behind Silent hill
0 -
Oh hell yeah I am! My boy Nemesis made it and quickly became one of my mains. I remember seeing his tentacle in the trailer while I was at work and trying to keep calm because my hype levels went through the roof. I also loved that we got Jill and RE4 Leon.
1 -
As much as i love RE and the second game in particular, I cannot get past how this chapter absolutely nuked the consoles into the ground. And even though three patches have been released since then, many of those performance issues are still present, putting the game in a worse spot than before RE came out. And the game's performance was already rough then.
0 -
I wish they had done something more with Nemesis. His ability is nice, but feels akin to PH with a tier up system. The zombies are a nest addition, but in the long run are so RNG dependant that they don't really do much if the survivors know where they are.
Jill and Chris has ve always been favorites of mine since I was introduced to them in the original RE game as a kid, but I'm disappointed with how they didn't even give her her OG STARS outfit, and Chris looks nothing like he did in the promo trailer (seriously please fix his eyes, they are way too close together).
The map is gorgeous and you can really tell how lovingly recreated it was, but as others have said, I it would have been far better to have it been split into two separate maps (with the main hall acting like an anchor). I feel it would be way easier to learn the loops and gen/totem spawns, and would promote more interactivity than spending the entire match just trying to find your way around.
Am I happy with the chapter? No, but I am happy it's been included in the game. I hope they revisit the map and Nemesis' powers in the future for some tuning.

jill? STARSSSS!!!

I go both ways with it.
I'm disappointed in Capcom for making RE's 25th anniversary all about the last few years of the franchise and nothing else. Every big anniversary, we tend to get something neat that either celebrates the first game or all of the games up until that point, but not this year. At least the DBD crossover was able to reference RE4 and 5, so that's better than nothing.
I'm disappointed in the really bad lore that accompanied the RE chapter and the incorrect info. Nemesis should've been called The Pursuer over The Nemesis. Leon's RE4 outfit bio is actually Chris' bio post-RE1/pre-CODE:Veronica. Jill's classic outfit bio about "returning to Raccoon City" makes no sense at all. The standard bios for all 3 characters is really pathetic too. Jill was picking a lock in the basement and got teleported? Really? I was working on a text mod that was going to address all of those issues and rewrite the lore to explain why all 5 characters are there. That is until they patched it out lol
I'm also not a fan that there's no RE music present. Naturally every crossover just remixes the DBD music and the RE chapter's remix is at least faithful to the style of the RE soundtracks, but there's no motifs. I really enjoyed how the Silent Hill chapter had Theme Of Laura and Flower Crown Of Poppy in its remix. A little nod to The Night Begins would be great, especially for the anniversary.
As for the pros, I'm glad we got Claire and Chris. Nemesis is a good choice as well. Everyone was expecting it to be one of the Tyrants and I'm happy it was him. Having a perk that mimics the firecrackers is also great and I like Bite The Bullet and Resurgence a lot. I also really like the RPD map, but that might just be because I'm a fan, similar to Midwich.

Don't forget how the new map was either fully or partially disabled for the entire duration of the chapter. Pretty embarrassing.

It seems pretty likely that Nemesis' original power was building up Infection to create more zombies. My reasoning is as follows:
- His Ritual requires reaching rank 3 four times, which cannot be done in a single game, unlike every other ritual in the game. This suggests originally you could reach rank 3 and it would reset to 1 or 2 during play, instead of capping out.
- Half or more of his addons specifically and only effect the zombies. With two zombies (which can be destroyed by Nemesis and survivors alike), it really doesn't make much sense for THAT MUCH attention to be paid to such a tiny force.
- It takes 6 contamination points (infecting two survivors) to rank up to level 2, which provides an incredibly powerful boost. It takes FIFTEEN contamination points to give your tentacle +1 m range (still the shortest "ranged" attack in the game). The wide disparity between these seems to suggest that reaching T3 used to give you a powerful boost (and reset your contamination level)
- RCPD is, by a wide margin, the largest map in the game. It is a nightmare for a killer to try to patrol all over that place and desperately needs some killer feature to spook and chase away survivors in multiple places.
- Devs specifically stated that they TRIED having more than 2 zombies on a map at once, but it tanked performance (even more than having only 2 did) so it was an impossibility using their current code.
- Resident Evil is (at its surface level) about zombie apocalypse-level events. Two slow walkers ambling around hardly counts as an apocalypse.
So, if you accept the premise, then the RE Chapter WAS a disappointment. Making a bunch of zombies would've been a tremendously unique killer. As stands, the two zombies either have some effect on the very, very small stages, or zero effect on the medium-to-large stages. They're more an after-thought than anything else, and considering how buggy they turned out to be, that's hardly a surprise.
Personally, I would've preferred they spent more time getting the code for multiple zombies working and just held off on releasing him until it was ready. Maybe they would've had the time to get some Nemesis skins available for launch, to mitigate the slowed release? Maybe more testing to realize that RCPD is far too large and should've been two stages, not one? Maybe not tanked their own Anniversary event with console-breaking performance issues?
3 -
I would’ve preferred Tyrant/Mr X. Seems like a lot of the players are younger than me but the first Resident Evil was a big game changer. PlayStation was still relatively new and RE stood out among the games available and other games of the genre, like Parasite Eve, didn’t do as well as RE. It left an impression that lasted for years and the sequel was extremely well done. I just never enjoyed Nemesis as much as Tyrant/Mr.X but he seemed to stick out more as the icon for a lot of players.
1 -
I like Jill, the rest is meh.
The biggest licence for sure
0 -
Yes and no, yes because leon, jill and christ look really good. Nemesis look good too and the new map is almost the same as the rpd map in the RE game.
No because claire look like shes got bitten by a zombie and shes about to die her face dont look good at all. Nemesis should be stronger i feel like when you use him its like playing on the easy mode in RE3 and its kinda a joke how easy he is to beat.
I think the next mid chapter patch will be huge for the nemesis player he should get buff that what i expect and i hope he will compete for a spot in the A tier instead of being a mid B tier to high C tier
1 -
Fix Claire's model and the chapter would be pretty good. There are still massive performance issues as well.
0 -
no
awful launch performance wise (that still has game breaking issues that havent been fixed), cash grab sets, an awful map, and one of the most uninspired killers that have been added imo
the only good thing about this chapter were the perks, Jill and Leon
0 -
Eh. Just... eh. As a fan of the RE games, this chapter was... Okay? Cool they added Jill and Leon with Chris and Claire as legendaries. Nemesis is beautifully meh. He's not my favorite killer to play or go against. Mostly because most Nemmy's just camp or tunnel or bleed people out every game (except the bleeding out; this doesn't happen every game, it only happened one time and he bled everyone out while he just watched us all die on the ground nodding so exclude this part from the every game bit) so he's just boring to me. Same playstyle from different players. Only seen a handful of legitimate good Nemmy's. I also can't really... play against him still. I have 0 chance to dodge his tentacle because my game will freeze for a hot second so he gets me either way. I can play against Pyramid Head and dodge waves if I can and if I go down, at least I know I had the chance and messed it up. With Nemesis, I can't say I had the chance, I just go down because of freeze. This improved after the hotfix for like a few days then back to freeze. He's got a cool design though, I like that you can hear his footsteps as he thuds towards or after you.
I wish they'd went with a different map or made the RPD more unique somehow and not a carbon copy of the game's design. The game's whole map was intended to be large enough to evade X and if I recall in the original RE3, Nemesis but I haven't seen or played that game in well over a decade so I'm not sure on that one (I do know Jill is in the RPD in the og RE3; something I wish they hadn't cut in the remake). I wish instead like someone else mentioned, we had gotten the Racoon streets from RE2 & 3 with maybe only the inside of the RPD with maybe the library. Something to please both non RE fans and give RE fans a little essence of the games. The whole game's almost every room wasn't necessary imo. It just makes it a huge ass maze for people who never played it. ######### that map as killer tbh.
I don't see Blast Mine or Flashbang being used much anymore. They're fun perks but I haven't seen anyone in my matches use Flashbang successfully unfortunately. I don't think Blast Mine is used very often anymore as there are just other better more necessary perks as you get higher in the ranks unless you're in a swf and also equipping Repressed Alliance with Blast Mine.
And to top it off, this chapter released ######### my Dead Hard, so.
1 -
I really like the DLC. While the map isn't great to play I do respect how damn good it looks and how close it is to the actual thing. Leon and Jill felt like good survivor choices and they both came with some solid perks, 2 of which I run all the time now. Nemesis was also a great choice for the DLC and while I feel like his power is lacking a little with tier 3 being pretty crappy and the zombie AI being terrible, I actually have so much fun playing him.
So overall it could be better but I enjoy what we have enough to say the DLC was worth it to me.
0 -
i'm happy with everything but gameplay.
0 -
Survivors are ok, Map and killer are literally #########
0 -
Can I ask why you think Nemesis is the most boring option? Because when people usually compare Nemesis with Mr. X I always think that X is even more boring. They'd have even less to work with.
However ye, aside from AI zombies, they kinda missed the mark with Nemesis for me. They could bring some different mechanics but he just feels like a mish mash of older killers. (And I know this sounds crazy ... But why not the rocket launcher? Limited use but could be fun)
0 -
I just prefer X’s design. Neither are great though
2 -
You make good points. It would've been much more interesting trying to build up a small zombie army than just whipping people with a short tentacle... but I could see it snowballing past any reasonable counters for survivors too.
Yeah I was hoping for a more creative killer choice with so many different unique zombies in the franchise. I guess iconic works too but then he should've at least been a powerful iconic character...
0 -
Only salvation for this chapter was Leon.
Map looks great, but it's awful for this game.
Nemesis is boring to face, and the zombies even though it's an interesting concept, work awfully, for both sides.
Perks are meh.
I like Claire's and Chri's skins, but I find Jill to be really bland.
