Stranger Things is (partially) leaving DbD

I'm weirdly sad about this. Demo is one of my mains, I like the hawkins map, and we've never "lost" a killer or survivor before have we?
5 -
Man...I really liked the Hawkins Lab map, It seemed like the only indoor map people didn't out right hate either. At least I still got Steve and Demogorgon but man this really sucks.

Are the perks staying?
0 -
yeah, they will be made generic and chucked into the shrine of secrets
1 -
Just found it, that would include Adept's as well, no need to rush them then if you don't have them.
0 -
Demo gonn have a playrate lower than the Plague.
But yea, sad news.
3 -
the adept ones might litterly be given out for free

I'm honestly starting to believe this with McLean also leaving I'm wondering if our days are numbered on this game and if in the next two years it will still be here, they might stop releasing content soon and leave the servers on

Right???
So those characters, perks and the killer will be unavailable to new people after Nov... and we lose a beloved map. That seems very sketchy. What does that mean for our other licenses in DBD?
I am not familiar with how this stuff works but I thought once a company agrees to a license being shared that is it. Dbd has whatever they agreed upon for the remainder of DBD.
I wish we had more info :< That tweet alone is very depressing without any reasoning.
1 -
I know people are happy because Hawkins is leaving-- but in reality this is sad for BHVR to lose a license.. even if that map was poorly designed. I hope other licenses do not follow suit.... and perhaps in the future something can be worked out with ST and BHVR.
1 -
This sure is some weird viral marketing for Stranger Things season 4....
10 -
It's such a shame they couldn't come to an agreement; especially given how much they've cooperated in the past.
At least they were able to give the community an advance warning so people who want the characters can buy them. And at a discount.
Still it's sad to see Stranger Things go.
-
Also, there go my hopes and dreams of Hopper and Robin Legendary skins. T-T

EVERYBODY CALM DOWN!
They will add an original killer and survivors with the same abilities and perks. Demogorgon, Nancy and Steve will be just special legacy skins for the new original killer and survivors.
The map will exist as a recolor. So the layout will be the same, only the colors and name will change, so that it is not "officially" Hawkins.
1 -
Will they, though?
6 -
They never said that. They will add the perk as ''New'' perk on the shrine like they did with bill on console before he was added. As far as the Demodog or the maps, they won't be coming back in another form as far as we are aware
2 -
I am pretty sure, because it is easy to do. Everything is already programmed, they just need to create 3 new skins: one original killer skin and two original survivor skins.
For the map they just need to change the textures a bit.

Never and technically they aren't being pulled but in November the wont be available for purchase the map is being pulled however
0 -
waw, no stranger thing has happened to dbd
I wonder if it's because the licence got pulled back or if dbd isn't doing so hot as i thought it was
2 -
You mean even less.
2 -
Yeah, they didn't tell because it is relatively new that they didn't manage to come to an agreement.
They will announce this replacement later, probably after the November deadline. Most likely they want people to panic and buy Demo ASAP.
0 -
I seriously doubt this happens.
0 -
You are stating this as if it is fact... when it isn't. We do not know that BHVR is allowed to reskin other survivors or killer using ST intellectual property.
I am speculating the perks will be treated the same way as Freddy's were before Switch got the license. Generic perk names not associated with any character - but still available on bloodwebs.
2 -
idk man i have doubts
0 -
Also the MOST IMPORTANT question is will Demogorgon's Chase music be changed, or do they get to keep that? Cause that theme is awesome and I will be super sad if that's gone.
1 -
That is good at least. But I dislike this even if it is probably not on them.
1 -
im not upset about the characters not beain buyable again, its that were losing such a amaizing map
0 -
I highly doubt that. There's similar powers and then there are the same powers. BHVR's not gonna make another killer with the exact same power as demogorgon when loads of people already own the killer. The only thing getting re-skinned are perks and maybe survivors. There's not going to be a replacement for the Demogorgon. Why release a killer with the exact same power as another one when loads of players already own that one.
1 -
If there are some reskin limitations:
They can just add a new original killer which works the exact same way as Demo and survivors with the exact same perks.
0 -
Well... I guess many players don't own it and new players will not be able to own it.
All the code exists, they just create three new skins and release the whole Stranger things chapter as an original chapter. Players who already own Demo could get it for free for example. So they could play using the new killer and also using Demo.
0 -
The map is actually surprisingly accurate in several locations. They would have to redesign some key rooms. I really hope they do, but I will miss the Stranger Things atmosphere.
0 -
But that's the thing. The money from that new killer is going to make a lot less money because if the new killer has the same power as demo why the ######### would they buy the new killer. Stranger things probably brought the most people in if not then it's close so loads of people will already own demo resulting in lacking of purchase of the new killer. If they did that it would just be a massive ######### your money to all who own demo
0 -
Yeah, they need to remove those things and replace with something different so it is not "officially" Hawkins, but still has the same layout.
0 -
It will not bring a lot of money, but the costs for creating it are also very low. Almost just creating three new skins and sounds. All the programming, testing, etc is done.
They will announce this later, because first they want everyone to buy Demo because of FOMO (fear of missing out). And if someone didn't buy it, they will still be able to buy the clone version.
0 -
Why will they do it? It's a waste of time. If you want demo and st chapter - buy it now. For new players that will join dbd after deadline it's whatever they won't be having any memories or feelings about that chapter. perks will be available in bloodweb as general perks. Map should be reskinned for sure

I think one of the saddest parts about all this is the dev's work on the map and characters as well as skins. We got a ton of brand new ST skins this year alone and they'll no longer be purchasable from the same year. I feel really sorry for the dev team :(
1 -
This is a very sad situation. I will cherish the memories I have with this Chapter, regardless of how annoying some of them are.
0 -
Again, I hate to dash your hopes, but you really need to stop with the "They will do this" wording. We simply don't know if they will. They may very well not.
Also, what you're suggesting requires:
New models (for the character, and their portals)
New animations (walk and carry loop; basic interactions; attack hit, whiff and hit obstacle; mori; etc. AND from both perspectives.)
New voice clips
New misc. sounds
New lore (yes, this matters)
New add-on names, descriptions and flavour text (yes, this matters too)
That all combined is not cheap.

I’m celebrating. While tragic for the characters(minus Steve). The map sucked for balance and looked ugly. And eliminated some powers my Hillbilly side says good riddance.
1 -
Oh Second Wind will still be a perk.
See, perks don't get locked out. They'll just be thrown in the pool of free perks
0 -
We already have confirmation that the affected perks will be put in the Shrine of Secrets as generic versions.
1 -
Yeah. So, no reason to freight over the perks. Hell, they may even be in the blood web randomly, like Fire Up was on the Switch or Bill's perks on the console until he came to dbd
0 -
I’m surprised that players that own the dlc can use it even after the licence expires.
1 -
That there is another legal document save. You already purchased the product, it's yours to keep.
You bought a one of a kind baseball card that's owed by a company, they retake back all their cards, except for the one you have. It's your property right now.
They just won't refund it if you lost your account or misplaced it.
I hope that makes sense
3 -
They should pull Freddy too seeing as how he's a joke and nowhere near as threatening as he should be. Good job Stranger Things. Demogorgon was very weak anyways.
This is my opinion. No disrespect to the devs.

Sure, but if you buy a digital movie on Amazon and the rights expire you can no longer watch that movie even though you have paid for it.
I’m surprised this is different, but I’m not complaining.
0 -
That... doesn't sound. Why would a rights end on a one time purchase on a movie, unless you're renting it?
0 -
Time to rally the gamers and play 4man scoops troop before he's gone forever
0 -
Amazon’s streaming rights do expire for the digital films that they sell, as do albums from the iTunes Store. Here’s an article about it:
0 -
Oh they getting sued for a legal loophole they tried to exploit. That is different than what's happening right now.
They're the exception, not the rule.
I mean a company can try to remove the rights completely, but that might cost more money than just saying "yeah I don't want to sign this anymore"
