Why are we getting pinhead first and not candyman?
the candyman movie is coming august 27 but we getting pinhead first and the hellraiser reboot isn't even coming yet.

To be fair people have been wanting Pinhead for awhile now I remember when chains of hate trailer came out people thought that was Pinhead.

Hellraiser hasn't seen a new movie in years, so most likely the rights to the character is probably dirt cheap which is why we're getting that before Candyman.

One of those is iconic, the other is not. I say that as someone who loved Candyman the movie and thought Hellraiser was pretty meh. It is kind of obvious that one is more notable than the other, however.

I've known who Pinhead was for years. I only heard about Candyman when these forums exploded last year.

Because PTB (possibly) starting this week would most likely have Candyman spoilers just before the movie releases. Hellraiser has no current movie to spoil.

Looks like the Hellraiser rights transfer over to Clive Barker at the end of the year, maybe BHVR just like their negotiating odds better with the current license holder so they wanted to get it in while they can. I figure the people who are about to lose the license won't charge so much for longevity since this is one of their last chances to make money off of it.

I don't understand the hype for Candyman. Like I only heard about him in this forums...Before that I never even heard his name. And I watched the original movie just because I heard about him here. And honesty it was nothing special, not at least something that I would watch again.

There was a movie 3 years ago that wasn't too bad, at least compared to Hellworld. Hopefully the remake isn't too bad.

I don’t think licensed chapters work like this.
they bring the licenses they want and can get. In this case they might have reached out to Hellraiser license holder way sooner as we know some of the devs are fans and Candyman is more unknown generally. But they could very well already plan the chapter and wait for that release until the movie actually is out and the chapter can’t spoil anything.
but generally this is really not answerable. Why did we get Silent Hill before Resident Evil? Why did we get Saw before Stranger Things?

In all honesty, Pinhead is a terrible license to go for at the time being. Clive Barker is regaining complete rights over the franchise at the end of the year. If he wants, he could pull the plug before Pinhead even found a footing amongst the other killers.

I figure they either worked out a long term deal or just want to make money with it while they can. Copyright law is weird, so I'm just making guesses at this point really.
