Think a Original killer [Inspired/based by] Jack the Ripper would be cool?
Before anyone of you start the "Glorifying Train" let me explain.
Unlike most killers in the world Jack the Ripper has been used in a lot of media.....and I mean alot.
You got anime, comic books, Tv shows, and movies. Heck even some video games like Assassin's Creed and Identity V which I love both designs in the video games.
I would just love to see how Dead By Daylight make their own version of Jack the Ripper because I have strong feeling they would keep what makes him iconic but throw in their own lore of the character so he is not really connected to real life.
Just make up their own lore but keep the design, date/time, and theme of the character.
Some examples of what I mean of "Design"
What the Devs should do is to make sure he always wears a mask. No one knows what his face looks like nor who he truly is so having a mask would make the best sense of design and lore in dbd.
Now lets compare the video game versions of him
This one is Identity V. Looks like if Slenderman decided to steal Freddy's weapon and dress up extra fancy.
Now this one is Assassin's Creed version. Never played the game but I watched cutscenes and I loved how they always avoid certain shots that would reveal his true face which will ruin the mystery.
Why I would even consider this as a killer
It's because at this point even what he did was real, it feels like he was always an urban legend. Because how little information we have on him, every version of him feels like an adaptation of Jack in all the media.
I do not want real killers in the game but Jack the Ripper could happen if done right if we avoid everything real life about him. The idea of a killer hiding in the shadows, stalking his victims, no known identity, no one ever catching him feels like an ideal killer.
His power could be similar to Ghost face or Myers but make him as deadly as Pyramid head or Legion.
Jack the Ripper feels like a legend and is pretty old just like Vlad the Impaler which was the Vampire we seen in the Observer cutscene.
They can go by the witness statements to create his DBD identity. A white British male, notably clean and charismatic, with a somewhat skinny build, but again it's important to never show his face because no one ever saw his face and lived to tell in most cases.
An example I would do to redo his lore is make him a killer that taunted the police in London. Leaving clues and calling cards that lead to nowhere but just to tell the police "You can never catch a Shadow". Killing anyone just to cause chaos and fear into the city. Than later, Police start to chase after him but before they could the Entity steps in to take him into her realm because she is impressed by the mass panic he has caused since she feeds on emotions.
This would be an interesting DLC because it would basically be a Victorian/Crime DLC. To add a more kick have a survivor as an FBI agent. FBI agent or Detective would be interesting due to who would win. A killer legend or the intelligent and modern FBI agent in the game of cat and mouse.
Again DLC would be original and INSPIRED by Jack the Ripper so we are not actually copying and pasting the real life version into the game since that would be 100% wrong.
This DLC would be a hit for people that are into Crime shows or old mysteries like Sherlock Holmes which actually faced Jack the Ripper in one book.
Also again, not glorifying and I do not want the real jack the ripper in the game but would be interesting and fun on what Dead by Daylight's twist would be if they make a killer inspired by Jack like how Assassin's Creed and Identity V did.

Again I mean a killer inspired/based on Jack the Ripper as an original killer.
That means not a copy and paste of his known information since that is all thrown out except his known look and date/time.
So again, Don't want a real killer. I just think would be cool to see Dead by Daylight's version of him due to seeing many versions of him in the media which some don't even make him a realistic being.

I never thought of Jack the Ripper for some reason but yeah, I'd be 100 percent on board. He seems like he'd be a natural fit. True, I can see how people wouldn't want to glorify an actual murderer, but a game that's all about killing, featuring a bunch of licensed killers, is ultimately inspired by real-life murder in some way or another. A lot of popular media does. Dracula has roots in real-life killing. Hell, I've stood on the actual grave of the lunatic cannibal murderer that inspired Leatherface. Doesn't get a whole lot more real than that.
I think most players of this game are at least well-adjusted enough to know that it's not trying to actively celebrate real killers or make light of the victims. No one knows who Jack the Ripper was, no one who's alive right now knew any of the victims. The story of what transpired has become just that, a story. A legend. A tale of mystery upon which hundreds of books, movies, plays, and other things have been based. I could be a calloused minority on this but I think that a character based on Jack the Ripper would be really cool. Especially if he looked the way he does in the first and last images that you provided.

I don't think it's appropriate considering he murdered actual human beings. He shouldn't be celebrated in a game. No. Absolutely not. I realize it's been a long time so for all of us living today, there's a bit of a disconnect. But no, he butchered women and shouldn't be in a game.

Exactly what my thoughts are. I know Killers should not be happily shared or shrined but Jack the Ripper is a very unique case. In all the media over 90% drop the "Real life version" and go for a unrealistic version or some version that is different from real life counter part.
I still remember a Super powered Jack the Ripper fighting some guy in an anime book with flying knives everywhere.

No one even celebrates or enjoys the actual killer but just the concept and mystery of Jack the Ripper that transforms into different fictional version of Jack the Ripper.
Like inspirations of LeatherFace and Ghostface. No one ever celebrates the actual source but loves the creation that came from the inspiration.
If basically every company or person can make their own fictional versions of Jack the Ripper like Identity V and people from a giant company Ubisoft that made him into Assassin's Creed than Jack the Ripper should be given a chance for an original concept of Jack for Dead by Daylight without involving the real stuff.

Would not be appropriate to have a copyand paste of the real killer ingame but an inspired version of the killer can be okay.
Can't tell me some DBD killers are not loosely based on actual killers or resemble some of them.
Even Marvel did it combining Jack the Ripper and Ghost face into Spring-Heeled Jack.
If Identity V did which is similar to Dead by Daylight I am pretty sure Dead by Daylight can do it better without involving the real stuff.
Jack the Ripper is so much used in the media some people forget he is real because of all the things we seen him in. I still remember him in DC comics when he found Venom.
Jack the Ripper would make an awesome Crime Mystery DLC. We can even just call him "The Shadow".
Lot of people would love the end result once they can see how Devs of the game can involve their own story of him and I could even be better then Assassin's Creed and Identity V's Jack the Rippers without involving the actual story.
Also fun fact he made an appearance in X-Men: The Animated Series which is a cartoon kid's show.........I don't think I need any more evidence how widely he is used in media.

Well, Spring-Heeled Jack is a character from British Folklore. If DBD went this route and made Jack more supernatural, I think that'd get over the issue of him being a real person that killed real people.

Oh crap forgot to mention the supernatural part my bad.
Idea is to have Jack the Ripper idea and design but have his name "The Shadow"
His power is more supernatural than realistic.
Able to travel through shadows, hard to see in dark areas, able to use stealth for a ambush attack but has a brutal power when it comes to chases.
Idea was to cause fake illusions of the killer walking around and possibly attack the survivor but gives them a status effect instead then vanishes as a passive power. The more shadows attack you the more effects you get. To reduce the effect you have to find a oil lamp and light it which removes the effects but gives Jack slightly more power.
Its a supernatural killer that involves with shadows and stealth.
[edit] That was based on a original inspired Jack the Ripper killer I made long time ago even though bit complicated. Just an example how he can be a supernatural killer. I would actually prefer his power be supernatural and have his m1 just the knife.
