Get RID of Ranks! Cheating/Reporting...? RANT
So, I am a new player of DBD and bought the game for my sister, only been on a bit over 2 weeks-ish.... Well, I am rank 11 and my sister is rank 8. We play to have fun, not focus on rankings... We play every night for 4-7 hours average. However, since playing we run into numerous TOXIC TOXIC people. Like,... Cursing you out, calling you garbage/trash, saying easy kills, etc. ALL OVER RANK. We get chewed out because of our ranks when we are having fun because the group ends up losing?! This rank thing HAS to go. They did that whole "skill based" trial for a bit but that was also failed. We were new-new and we were being put against people that had purple skills and worked on their killer versus us who had just started off, not even level 20. It really wasn't too fair to begin with BUT I would rather skill based matchmaking than ranks... Or at the VERY least turn off rankings so nobody can see. It is pretty exhausting to be attacked by people we play with over our ranks and how "crappy" we are... Yeah, we are kind of crappy, we are LEARNING. Even if you defend yourself, they basically tell you to eff off and get off the game.
Also, I want to try to suggest that to the DBD staff and wasn't sure how I could go about reaching them.
I also had the question of if you report someone, how many reports on that person does it take before something is done? I get that things can be minor and nobody will NEED to be reprimanded, but sometimes I just wonder. I have run into a really awful person today who was talking about how trashy we were because of our ranks and how they weren't cheating... When the killer and one of our survivors were intentionally outing our last person. They were both farming blood points and clearly both being toxic as heck. Our survivor was HELPING the killer and the killer even admitted that the Steve that helped him was his "accomplice" but they weren't cheating? Our friend was the last one other than Steve and Steve was downed INTENTIONALLY only to highlight where our friend was and then he lead Ghost Face to him...
I understand the concept of having people that go easier and can let someone get out if they are last, but going to the extent of using their so called "accomplice" and cheating (but yet he claimed it wasn't cheating because they were farming blood points..) Our killer was a steam player and his "accomplice" was a different console player. My sister, her friend, and I did report BOTH people. Steve because he intentionally threw the game for us and was "spared" getting out. The Ghost Face was reported because he was toxic and basically calling us garbage because of our ranks and told us to basically be better survivors. Like we are new, all three of us... But he went based on our ranks even though we play to have fun.
I normally am not one to really care about things like this, but this was a little much for a match. But for him to basically say that we sucked and the only reason he was killing our friend was because "he didn't do anything"... Which in fact our friend did more than the Steve. Steve only did ONE generator with someone and got maybe 2 people off hooks.. Plus healing himself/escaping the killer the few times he did. The ONLY reason Steve was the #1 in blood points was because he got the 5k for escaping because... He "helped" Ghost Face. had he NOT escaped, his points would have averaged around ours too.
It was just pretty toxic and gross, and some of these players are awful. He even suggested I add him on Discord just to continue the whole argument on why he was cheating, but I told him he "wasn't worth it".. However, it hash tagged that I said that and made it seem like I cussed, which I didn't. He then claimed to report me because I cursed, when I in fact did NOT. LOL I am sure he/she will see this and complain that I complained, but it is what it is and I am just trying to figure things out since I am new.

SBMM will help. Being rank 8 currently means you can verse rank 1s. Just turn off messages and focus on you and your fun. Ignore everyone else

Reports for communication harassment get sent to a community manager along with the entire chat log. Therefore if the chat filter was just being overzealous you have nothing to be concerned about.
If you want to give feedback or make suggestions that the devs will see, post it in the Feedback/Suggestions part of the forum

People will chew you out no matter what. Don't read post-game chat. It has nothing to do with your rank. Rank means nothing.
