It is an unfair advantage a survivor can have for free
*an unfair advantage survivors On PC have.
P.s, please give consoles the ability to adjust their brightness and quality. We wanna be able to see through the grass and corn too.

The killer equivalent would be if you could double your FOV in the settings. Much like how stretched res can render some killer tactics useless (red stain mindgame/moonwalking etc.), super shadowborn settings would render some survivor strategies useless (360ing, stealth etc.)

The best way to solve this would be to make graphic settings customizable in-game for FoV's or they should ban it comepletly. Either everyone has it or no one does.

If it isn't in the default settings, quit doing it. Its such a simple concept that nobody seems to understand, if it isn't in the default settings the devs do not intend for you to do it. Thusly, its cheating to do so.

Doesn't matter as this game is not balanced or even meant to be balanced
I like that one guy who selected that it just looks better xD. Common argument of people who use it and need any kind of justification. It doesn't look better, especially on recordings. Just admit you want any advantage you can have.

Oh it's unfair alright. But the Devs encourage SWF teams on comms, so clearly there's no real expectation of a self-contained game that is balanced around what all players have access too. Third-party advantages have official sanction, so everything's fair game.

I think there's a small chance someone out there has a legitimate medical reason why they can't play the game unless they see it on stretched res, but 99.9999% of the time, it's just people trying to cheat.

What exactly makes you think stretching makes something look better?... It looks ugly af + with the nvidia freestyle clarity mask at 700% and playing with low graphics and gamma? That ######### so ugly.

The real answer to this comes with a question of its own. Can people on consoles perform this as well? If the answer to that is EVER no, then it is cheating. Stretched res is not available to consoles, so it is cheating, but Discord is not, as EVERYONE can use it (evidence being my friends are all console while I'm on PC, but we communicate JUST FINE through Discord).
Color filters also constitute as cheating, as consoles cannot do them (this also applied to color-blind filters before they got added. It was unfortunate, but not everyone could do it, so it was cheating).

The Devs probably cannot or will not do anything about it though.

I would stop playing this game just for this

It's simply an unfair advantage, no matter any (laughable) excuses.
And to be fair, it also benefit to some killers like Nurse or Blight or even Ghostface (?).

Couldnt care less about it. I will never know if a Survivor or Killer is using Stretched Res, as long as they are not streaming.
If they are streaming and I see that there is a Blight on the Screen which is wider than his height (yes, have seen that one already), I have a good laugh for someone having to resort ot this measures in a game like DBD and keep on not caring about it.

@Aven_Fallen Hmm are you aware that stretched resolution does not benefit killer at all? It's just survivor thing that can actually be useful, like seeing over medium height loops and such.

Not a big deal and it just looks better
It does give an advantage if it's really stretched on certain loops, but given for some people like myself it's pretty much a necessity to play at a smooth FPS without lag, you don't really have much choice.

Not a big deal, but I don't think it looks better. The advantage you get from using stretched is that it simplifies vertical FOV at the cost of horizontal FOV. There's next to nothing that you couldn't see with non-stretch that you can with stretch. Stretched makes it to where you move your mouse less vertically to see the same things.

On the lower end, where people used to classic FPS games sit, it's not a huge deal and doesn't give much of an advantage, if any. It's just a thing that they do to make the game look prettier to their insane eyes, because they do it with every game. And they're also extremely rare and most people claiming to be this kind of Res stretcher is ######### lying through their teeth, thanking the gods for the anonymity of the internet.
On the higher end, it's absolutely broken and no-one is doing it because "it looks better". And it's also where most Res stretchers sit.
Edit: Also, killers can use it too, especially Nurse and Blight.

Turn up your screen's backlight and play on Low graphics with killer. World of difference.
