Theoretically, what would happen to the game If you only died in 2 hooks?
Title. What would happen to the balance, META, etc. Time to die on hook would still be the same, but you'd die on 2nd hook instead of 3rd.

Borrowed Time would be an absolute necessity, Killers would tunnel immediately due to it being easier to kill Survivors by just hooking them again, game would be dead in a month due to the terrible imbalance, and the only remaining players would be SWF SWAT Squads looking to bully Killers. Solo Q would be non-existant.

It would increase the gen rushing and camping meta even more.
No one would save the hooked survivor till the last second of struggle and the killer would face camp.

Borrowed time would be mandatory to use although then again it already is mandatory to use lol

Send everything the survivors have to 2016/2017 DBD and maybe it could work

Would definitely be very unfair for the survivors. Tunneling would be very very effective since the killer would not have to worry about applying much pressure since they can immediately someone

It would be the equivalent of having the old Ebony Mori every match.

It would make it worse. Because survivors would be even more focused on gen rushing and just holding W. We already have that but it'd just amplify it and make it worse. I'd much rather see more objectives for survivors. They added in breakable walls for killers, which just drains more time, but they haven't added anything for survivors. I think that'd be a lot healthier for the game overall. There'd be a lot less 5 minutes gen rush games.

It’s like that in Identity V and it’s very not-fun, especially considering the way Killers play in that game.

Killer nerfs.

Forums would blow up and surv mains would riot. Only real changes that would need to be made are reducing the number of hooks on the map and giving survs a third health state.

Is this just some thought experiment, or do you think that would benefit the game. If the latter, you should elaborate on why you think it would make the game better. Frankly, it would be such a bad idea, it would never even be considered.

It would just be reverted, BHVR’s social would be spammed with hate comments and player count would plummet.
BT/DS/Exhaustion would be absolutely mandatory.

i imagine BHVR would want chases lasting longer, so maybe all killers movespeed would be reduced or survivor perks would get buffed across theboard.

Just a thought experiment. Don't worry.

I'm guessing you didn't play when killers could mori someone off first hook. It'd be like that but every game instead of when killers would bring an offering.

Borrowed Time would absolutely be baseline, built-in ability if so. It's funny how at 3 Hooks it can take forever to "nicely" get someone killed. Take away one hooked state and it (imo) would wildly make it much easier imo.

BT, SB or DH, iron will, and DS would become almost essential to play.
Medkits would also be seen much more frequently as well due to them increasing survivability, and you would also see survivors using styptic agents or syringes more as well.

Do you mean to bring back all the infinite the instant flashlight the 14 sec self care etc...

Literally this. I was okay with Ebony Mori, because it was relatively rare, but I wouldn't have wanted it every match. From the survivor side, two downs for a kill felt way too fast.

They would have to fundamentally change the game's balance, else we'd have very very short games.

There's a reason I specified 2017 in there as well darling.

As one of the people above me said, killers would tunnel one person out of the game for an easy dub due to how unbalanced the game gets after one survivor is dead. This is the major problem to this idea.
I do think 8-9 hooks is around where actual balanced gen speeds with this game lie for a host of killers, super strong one's not withstanding.
I think it would be interesting to have a separate game mode where instead of death after so many hooks it is based on some kind of morale system. Maybe after 8 hooks (the equivalent of 2 per person as op said) the entity comes and kills all survivors. Survivors cannot die before this, but they can be hooked endless times. Also, hook stages would proceed same or slightly faster then they do now but with endless struggling until you are saved or 8 hook stage equivalents has been reached.

Bassically old ebony mori's

every survivor would use ds every match

Finally, it would be balanced! Kind of kidding, but also kind of not. This s probably what it would take to make it even at the highest levels. Anywhere else, it would be so ludicrously killer favored.
