Fleshed Out Chapter Idea: The Fog (Part 1)
There are few monsters more ravenous than Revenge. Wether it starts with criminal feud or is stoked by tragedy on the innocent, it is all consuming, and swallows even the most virtuous men and women whole. For the residents of 1980's Antonio Bay, California, revenge would bring Hell from the grave...
Introducing Dead by Daylight: The Fog Chapter
The New Killer is The Revenant
Killer Description:
Captain Blake was a wealthy seaman and respected entrepreneur up until the year 1880. Inexplicably struck with Leprosy, Blake lost the respect of his peers to the vices of unjust judgement brought on by the misunderstanding of his affliction.
Blake loaded up his vessel, the Elizabeth Dane, with others who shared his illness and his fortune, and set out for Western Seas, hoping to find decent shores to settle in and establish a Leper Colony in California. Before his ship could make landfall, however, the residents of a newborn town called Antonio Bay, fearing their own reputations, sank the Elizabeth Dane just offshore, before plundering its gold to fund their growing settlement.
One Hundred Years would pass, and revenge would stir the dead crew of the ship. Led by their Captain even in death, the Revenants cut out the price of betrayal on the descendants of their killers, accompanied by a thick and ominous fog. Six would have to die before they would be sated. When their price of blood was payed, Blake and his crew returned to nothingness, that is, until Blake was woken from his newfound slumber by the groaning of an abyssal beast, and the bonechilling cold of the Black Fog...
Power:
From the Deep
After spawning into a match, From The Deep begins charging. From The Deep gains charge passively, but the process is slow, however, the base charge time can be increased by offerings that effect the Dark Mist. The thicker the mist, the faster the charge rate. The Revenant can further boost the charge by succesfully hitting a survivor with his basic attack.
Once full, use the active ability button to activate From the Deep. Once activated, the Revenant will release a cloud of thick fog that stays in place for the remainder of the trial. The fog's size is determined by the Revenant's current Terror Radius when released, and is also effected by perks and addons that change the terror radius.
While in the Fog:
Survivors suffer from the Oblivious and Blind status effects, and their base vision is heavily obscured by the Fog. The effect the Fog takes on the survivors can be altered by the Revenant's unique addons.
The Revenant's terror radius shrinks by 12 meters. Being inside the cloud of fog enables the Revenant to use his secondary ability, Blake's Revenge.
When Blake's Revenge is active, use the Secondary Ability button to become one with the Fog. As a cloud of Fog, the Revenant can phase through solid objects and Survivors to reposition himself. The Revenant's basic attack is replaced with a lunge for 2 Seconds after reappearing. If no action is made within that time frame, or the attack misses, he must endure a 3.5 second stun duration. Once used, Blake's Revenge has a 30 second cooldown.
Survivor's can dispel the Revenant's fog by cutting through it with Flashlights, or by fully repairing nearby generators. The rate at which Fog is dispelled by Flashlights is effected by the rarity and power of the item and its addons.
Perks and Addons
Perk 1: Angler
From the abyss, you strike with a friendly face.
Downing a survivor with your basic attack activates Angler for 15/20/25 seconds. While Angler is active:
- The downed Survivor's aura is hidden from other Survivors, while they themselves suffer the blindness status effect
- While standing still, the Killer becomes Undetectable
- An aura projection of the downed survivor is revealed to their teammates on the Killer's location
Angler deactivates after 15/20/25 seconds, or when the downed survivor is revived, and has a cooldown of 100/80/60 seconds. Angler does not reactivate again until another survivor is downed.
Perk 2: Hex: Revenge
While Hex: Revenge is active, each time a generator is completed, gain a token for a maximum of 2/3/4. Each time a token is gained, Hex: Revenge copies itself to an available dull totem. For each token, a random Survivor suffers from the Exposed status effect until the totem is cleansed.
If healed by another Survivor, Hex: Revenge's effect transfers to them unless they are already exposed. If Hex: Revenge's origin totem is cleansed, the Exposed status effect disappears from all Survivors after 30/40/50 seconds.
Perk 3: Bait the Hook
The most satisfying catch is the one you prepare for.
Bait the Hook activates when a Survivor is hooked for the first time. If the survivor is rescued while two OTHER survivors are within your terror radius, including their rescuer, Bait the Hook takes effect.
- The unhooked Survivor gains the protected status effect. This overrides other perks that grant this effect.
- The other Survivors within your terror radius suffer from the Exhausted and Hindered status effects for 9/12/15 seconds.
The Revenants addons will be numerous, but will mainly focus on the effect his Fog has on Survivors. Some Addons of note:
Iridescent Sabre Blade (Iridescent) - A glass-like cutting edge molded from the fog itself.
Survivors hit with your basic attack are immediately put into the Dying state while effected by the Fog, however, the Fog itself dissipates in return.
Pilfered Plank (Iridescent) - A rotten plank of wood that drifted to shore from the wreck of the Elizabeth Dane. Though it once carried the name of the ship, it now bears the ominous message '6 Must Die'.
Survivor auras are revealed to you for 6 seconds after they enter the Fog.
Rotten Handkerchief (Rare) - An old Handkerchief Blake once used to catch his bloody cough.
Survivors in the Fog suffer from the exhausted status effect.
Desperate Recording (Rare) - A tape plundered from the Lighthouse Radio Station. It bears the panicked message of a mother afraid for her son.
When one Survivor is in the Fog, your terror radius is increased by 20 meters.
(This concludes part 1, part 2 will focus on the Survivor, and part 3 will focus on the new Map and potential Mist rework)

Pretty cool concepts in general, tho I think Hex: Revenge may be a little too strong.

Well, not if you consider its drawbacks. For one, the hex can be removed no matter how many singular totems spawn if they get the origin totem.
2: You also have to complete a generator for it to take effect, so if you think about it, this perk would be most threatening against gen rushers.
3:I didn't state this but it wouldn't tell the Killer which survivor is exposed, so thats my bad.
4: It wouldnt work well with other hexes, because it needs all 5 totems to be unused to reach its full potential.

Come to think of it, those are pretty good drawbacks. The best one being that Hex: Revenge doesn't play nice with other Hex perks, because that means that for this strong effect, you have to give up things like Hex: Ruin, which is an idea I really like.

Exactly. If more perks had strengths AND weaknesses, and not just one or the other, then Meta builds would be a thing of the past.
