I often use Kindred simply because it gives information to my teammates whether to stay on gen or come save me and more importantly, how many of the survivors should come for me when I am on hook. It prevents a survivor from running from the other side of the map for me just to find out halfway that someone else unhooked me already. The same information applies to me as I can see the killer's aura on hook whether he is camping or in which direction he goes, and when I should go save someone or stay on gen.

I used it for a while but people still didn't come to unhook even when it was obvious the killer didn't camp - wasted perk slot imo.

Kindred is actually my favorite survivor perk and i use it on my main build however I like variety so I sometimes don't run it.

Solo q's fundamental problem is that they can't coordinate themselfs bc of the lack of informations. Kindred is one the best perks to give them what's needed. Information -> coordination -> efficiency -> big advantage

My main goal and build as survivor is trying to make sure no one gets hooked at all (For The People to instantly get people up, Dead Hard to extend chases and to not immediately die if using FTP, then the other 2 perks I use vary but do fit when trying to get survivors hooked as least times as possible), Kindred would be extremely contradictory and if I were to use an Aura perk it'd either be Bond or Aftercare.

Yes. "Religiously" is the perfect word to use, it is probably my most go to survivor perk when playing solo.
However, it's not entirely necessary- it's a gigantic help in solo q but if I'm looking to do a very specific build, try something new or niche, or just do a daily or an archive challenge or something (for example to do the "vault a pallet / window 5 times in a single match while in chase" archive challenge I created a build out of Windows of Opportunity, Quick and Quiet, Resilience, and Spine Chill, so I didn't have room for Kindred) then of course I'm going to swap it out. As I would with any other perk.
If I'm on a losing streak and getting frustrated, you can bet your bottom dollar I'm at some point just going flip and decide to run a pure-blooded meta build out of Adrenaline, Dead Hard / Sprint Burst / Balanced Landing, Decisive Strike, and Spine Chill / Borrowed Time / Unbreakable or something.
But most of the time, if I'm just chilling in Solo Q, I'm going to be running a standard self-serving build that helps keep me alive and makes me a decently well rounded solo player that has information, and self sustain. Kindred, Self Care, Adrenaline, and Spine Chill would be pretty standard.
But of course being real- I'm playing survivors that aren't my main all the time and in which case I'm going to be using less optimal perks, or just perks I wouldn't normally use. In which case, everything I've just said gets thrown out the window and I just work with what I've got- but if I've got Kindred, then you can bet I'm likely to fit it in there.

I almost never take it off. It genuinely is a lifesaver in solo que. Only issue is, kindred may give a lot of info to the team, but it can't cure stupidity. If my teammates want to leave me on hook, then you can bet your bottom dollar that they'd do it, Kindred or not. Sometimes, people aren't even being malicious. Some teammates are just completely oblivious to what's going on in the game and kindred does little to help. Nonetheless, Kindred is a staple in my solo que build due to the massively increased efficiency regarding unhooks.

I honestly refuse to run it out of the principle that it should be basekit. (minus killer aura reading) But also because im pretty stubborn with what perks i want to use. A perk that only activates when im on the hook just isn't something i vibe with.

i used to run it regularly but sadly people would ignore it and let me die on hook anyway so i do not see the point anymore...

I recently found out this is surprisingly true actually. I got two friends into the game somewhat recently and they're still pretty new- (but not total greenies anymore) and I've found it's actually pretty valuable to have Kindred on myself, or have them run Kindred if they have it (often they don't- because they're new) in SWF. Despite being in a call together- lapses in communication by virtue of them being newer players can happen, and Kindred helps to create a more concrete image for them about the state of the match and where everybody is.
Also, I'm not gonna lie- it gets exhausting always being the guy making call outs all the time and always thinking during the match about what they should be doing. Basically thinking for the three of us instead of just for me as I normally would in solo q.
But I still feel guilty about running it or asking them to run it because really we shouldn't need it and it takes up a perk slo they could use for something else. They're just not at that point yet where they can SWF properly without it I guess.

I used Kindred from the literally first day I was playing. It was OP back in the day when didn't give you any vision, just the allies. Then it got buffed twice and most survivors still don't care - about literally the strongest perk in game.
Killer camps? Boom we do gens and leave. Killer goes specific direction after the hook? Boom, you know it. Killer disappeared while in the range? Boom, you know they have undetectable, propably insidious or tinkerer.
Oh, noone is going for save? I will. Oh, someone is going for save? Let's rush gens...
There's no more underrated perk in game. Unless I go full meme builds it's always in the kit, even in swf.
PS: Fun fact, if you can coordinate, having 3 Kindreds in team is exactly the same as having 4. You're welcome, free slot for your second chance, not too big peepee perk.

I realised how helpful it was so I switched it back again. Thanks everyone for answering. I was kinda surprised how many don't use it when I took it off. At least in my games.
But it seems a lot do judging by the results. Still I am not removing it again. It is beneficial to me.

Absolutely. It gives so much information when you aren't on comms. I'd never solo queue without it unless I have a challenge or something.
Though really, it'd be better if the HUD showed survivors what action each other is performing, and if you could update it with things like "going for unhook".

Kindred, Object of Obsession, Bond, Spine Chill, Better Together, Detectives Hunch, Open Handed... I always have an info perk or 4. Kindred is probably my most-used, but it's far from the only one I use.

I use it sometimes, but immediately stop using it for an entire month if my three team mates didn't save me when they knew the killer wasn't here, that no one was going to save me.
So I keep using my Sprint Burst build, or Fast Vault build again and again

Yea this happened a lot when I ran it when I 1st started playing the game. Found it useless because of this reason so took it off. Now that I have more experience I gave it another shot.
The 1st part still happens; a survivor 10 meters away that would rather work on a gen than saving me or another teammate when the killer is obviously chasing another person.
But the other more important part is whenever a teammate gets hooked, the info it gives you. Whether you are in a better position to go for a save or a teammate closer is, if a teammate is getting chased away, etc..

I use it, but not religiously. I usually run it if I've had a lot of bad solo queue experience or if I have a challenge, like safely unhooking somebody. I want to see if I can make it in time, or if someone else is on their way and will beat me to it.

When i just started playing i used it every game.
Now i sometimes use it and when i play swf sometimes we combine it with open handed.
It's a really nice info perk in my opinion.

Every match! It's good to know if you should go for the save or not, and when you're on the hook you can see what your teammates are doing. I find it very useful and it can help teams to not snowball.

When I played solo I stopped using Kindred pretty quick. While the information I got from it was nice, when I was on the hook it seemed to screw me over. If the killer had obviously left me and was chasing someone else I would be left on the hook until struggle or die on first hook. Sometimes I would even see the chased survivor lead the killer to the other survivors because they could see their auras, that was awesome. If the killer was camping my teammates would hang out around the hook, unsafe unhook without BT, I would be downed and hooked again for same thing to happen while struggling. My random teammates made better hook plays when I stopped running Kindred.

I used to run Kindred on every game because I don't have friends, and I play Solo Queue almost exclusively. I get left to die on first hook half the time, even when I run it, so I'd rather run something more useful like Borrowed Time instead. My go-to build for Solo Queue survivor is Spine Chill, We're Gonna Live Forever, Borrowed Time and Counterforce/Detective's Hunch/Small Game

yes i use it with my anti camping build
it's camaraderie, breakdown, kindred and open handed
punishes camping by wasting time
camaraderie makes it take longer to die
breakdown makes the killer have to either go to another hook (which may be too far away) or wait 3 minutes for the hook to come back
kindred and openhanded make it so you and your team can see the killer when they are withen 32 meters of the hook (kindred is 16 meters plus openhanded makes it another 16 meters

Kindred and Open Handed so you can see where the killer is going from farther ranges and helps if you’re going to unhook and the killer makes a u-turn so you can predict it. Also helps in chase to where the killer can’t mind game you.

kindred is one of the most powerful perk in the game, I am a main killer and for my experience I get destroyed more often by this perk than any other meta perk out there

I stopped relying on it ages ago.
I've always used Kindred if I have no other better perk to use on a Survivor though, but in general, it's not worth keeping it over the build I would want to run.
