Map-Exclusive Chests

With there being so many maps within this game, there's bound to be some secrets that we've yet to discover or find out about. However, one thing that I think was a very interesting thing, in concept, was the Midwich Elementary School Easter Egg when performing certain tasks in a specific order.

This should be extended to all realms (but not all maps), so that there's actually more things to earn and places to explore. Thus I'm introducing the idea of map-exclusive unlockables, specifically Chests.

Map-Exclusive Special Chests

These chests are exclusive to each map within the game and can be found through various means in each and every one of the maps that are listed below. These chests first have to be found by doing specific tasks, and upon doing so, one chest will automatically spawn with the special items that are hidden within, while more chests will spawn in with an assortment of other items that other Survivors can take.

These additional chests only spawn if one or more Survivors have the special item in their possession already. The special item chest can only be unlocked by Survivors who already have the item themselves.

Normal Chests, however, will contain high tier lot, ranging from Rare to Ultra Rare Items.

Map-Exclusive Special Items

What are Map-Exclusive Special Items?

Map-exclusive Special Items are a series of new items for Dead by Daylight that you can unlock within various maps through their specific means, typically by doing Generators.

  • Unless otherwise specified, these items have no real effect on the game aside from being cosmetics you can bring into the Trial itself.
  • These items also do not disappear from your inventory by any means; they are permanent items that you can show as a token of your
  • These items are considered "obtained" after picking them up and cannot be placed down upon initially obtaining them. They do not require you to exit the Trial in order to unlock them, either.

Below is a list of the items that can be found, as well as which maps contain these items.

MacMillan's Phalanx Bone

  • In order to obtain the MacMillan's Phalanx Bone item, you must first complete three out of the five generators in The Ironworks of Misery map, after which the factory will become active again and open up a passage to where you can go down and find a chest.

Azarov's Key

  • In order to obtain Azarov's Key, you must first finish the Generator of Gas Heaven's garage, then finish the Generator on the furthest side of the map from it next. This unlocks an unseen set of stairs that leads to a special basement that contains the key.

Hillbilly's Chainsaw

  • In order to obtain Hillbilly's Chainsaw, you must finish the Generator in the Thompson House first, then remain inside the structure for 30 seconds, after which a woman's crying can be heard in the Bathroom. Upon going inside, you will find Hillbilly's Chainsaw.

Michael Myers' Mask

  • In order to obtain Michael Myers' Mask, you must finish all five Generators on Lampkin Lane while Michael Myers is currently not the Killer being played. Then, go into the Myers House and you will find Michael Myers' Mask within one of the rooms.
  • Unlike other items, this is a cosmetic head item, and thus can be worn.

The Fragrant Censer

  • In order to obtain The Fragrant Censer, you must complete the Generator in the basement of the Temple of Purgation, then descend down a flight of steps into a smaller chamber, where the bodies of many Babylonians are, and a high concentration of the plague stands.
  • Staying for too long in this room will cause you to become infected with the plague and put you into the Broken status effect. This will only happen if you're in the room for more than 60 seconds.
  • Using The Fragrant Censer in this specific room in the Trial will prevent all Survivors within an 8 meter range from getting this sickness.

Jigsaw's Puppet

  • In order to obtain Jigsaw's Puppet, you must complete the Generator in the bathroom of The Game, then the one in the room leading to the chute that leads downstairs, and finally any random Generator.
  • Upon doing so, a room that was previously accessible before and is now locked will now open up to reveal the Jigsaw's Puppet chest.

Rin's Katana

  • In order to obtain Rin's Katana, you must cleanse 3 dull totems in the Trial or activate Hex: Haunted Ground. After doing so, for the next 60 seconds in Family Residence, you can gain access to a hidden room that contains a chest containing the Katana.

Mask of the Oni

  • In order to obtain the Mask of the Oni, you must cleanse 3 dull totems in the Trial or activate Hex: Haunted Ground while Oni is not the Killer and while on Sanctum of Wrath. Upon doing so, for the next 60 seconds, a chest will spawn at the center shrine containing the mask.
  • Like Michael Myers' Mask, this mask can be worn as a head item.

The Legion's Masks

  • In order to obtain The Legion's masks, you must complete the generator in the Mount Ormond Resort main building first, then two generators afterwards.
  • After that, the room with the single bed on it will have a chest containing one of the four Legion masks.
  • This chest can be unlocked four times by the same Survivor in order to get all four masks.
  • Like the other masks, this one can be worn.

The Seal of Metatron

  • In order to obtain The Seal of Metatron, you must complete the same actions like you did before on the Midwich Elementary School map.
  • When using this item as Survivor, you gain the Endurance status effect after being picked up from the Dying State.
  • When using this item as Killer, you gain the Enduring perk's effects. Apply this item to the Killer's add-ons to make use of this.
  • This is the only special item in the game that can be used as Killer.

The Great Knife

  • In order to obtain The Great Knife, you must complete the opposite actions like you did before on the Midwich Elementary School map while Pyramid Head is not the Killer currently being played.
  • Upon doing so, you will be met with Pyramid Head's Great Knife in a chest. Upon picking it up, however, the next hall that you go into will contain Pyramid Head looking at you from the end of the hall without his weapon.
    • That's certainly going to sit well with people.
  • When using the Great Knife as a Survivor, you can use it as a weapon against Killers.
  • The Great Knife has tremendous start-up speed when attempting to swing it, taking 1.5 seconds to fully swing once, and having a 2.5 second cooldown upon swinging it for the light version, and 3 seconds to fully slam on the heavy version, with an 8 second cooldown upon slamming it.
  • The Great Knife also reduces Survivor movement speed to 20% and changes the animation to reflect that.
  • The Great Knife has two attack types; a light attack that stuns the Killer for 1 second (with a 5 second immunity afterward) or a power attack that stuns the Killer for 5 seconds (with a 30 second immunity afterward).

S.T.A.R.S. Badge

  • In order to obtain the S.T.A.R.S. Badge, you must find a special Spade Key that is used to unlock the third floor of the Raccoon City Police Station. This key can be found in one of the four chests within the map, but can only be picked up by Survivors who haven't gotten the badge yet.
  • Upon using up the Spade Key to unlock the door in the Library, you will find a chest containing the item.
  • Both the Spade Key and the S.T.A.R.S. Badge will become unlocked as items.

Lightning Hawk

  • In order to obtain the Lightning Hawk, you must find a special Heart Key that is used to unlock the now-locked Weapon's Room on the first floor of the Raccoon City Police Station. The key can be found in one of the four chests within the map, but can only be picked up by Survivors who haven't gotten the gun yet.
  • Upon using up the Heart Key to unlock the door to the Weapon's Room, you will find a chest containing the item.
  • Both the Heart Key and Lightning Hawk will become unlocked as items.
  • Holding the Lightning Hawk in your hand will change your animation to a gun-holding one.
  • The Lightning Hawk can be used as a weapon that can be aimed and fired, stunning the Killer for 2 seconds if it hits. However, it only has one shot.
    • Hitting Pyramid Head's helmet or any part of Nemesis' body that isn't the chest will not stun these Killers.

Basically, these are really meant to be mostly cosmetic (with some having actual practical effects), but I think that it would be really neat to earn these things since it'd give people more incentive to try to look for secrets on the maps or extend the games a little just to find these cool items and take them for themselves.

Thoughts?

I like the idea in concept, an item that's really just for bragging rights at the end of the day that you need to go through a whole process to get. That part I like. I don't how I feel about some of them actually having effects, such as the GUN. I think just as a trophy of sorts would be better. Maybe there would be rewards for getting them the first time or something, like lore for their respective character, but other than that I think they should just be a fun little challenge more than anything else.

TLDR: Not a fan of them having effects, but it would be cool to see those items as a trophy of sorts.
