BHVR needs to tell people what a win/loss is in the SBMM seriously

Hooks? Killing?Escaping?amount of gens done?getting chased for a long time?

is it a win when i run a killer for 3 gens and then get facecamped and carry my team pretty much?

is it a win or tie when i get 8hooks but 0 kills?

why is it such a big secret?

Their argument is basically the following: the more people know about how the score is calculated, the more easily it could be reverse engineered and abused. So they're deliberately very vague about what a 'win' actually is and tell us virtually nothing about what a good/poor performance would look like from the point of view of the MMR system.

I agree it's frustrating, especially as someone who doesn't even support an MMR system in the first place, but unfortunately, it just is what it is, and I highly doubt we'll ever learn much more about it unless someone manages to crack it, which would be very difficult given it's all processed server-side.

    Because Content Creators.

You have a bunch of anti-SBMMR content creators just waiting for an opportunity to take any information BHVR gives out and use it against SBMMR. Look at the forums right now, it's a giant mess because content creators have been actively trying to sabotage SBMMR.

  • Based on the music that plays I just take any result that isn't entity displeased or sacrificed as a win.

Ah yes It's the content creators they're out to get Behavior. Yes this is totally it totally not people giving valid criticism or anything It's totally them trying to make Behavior a Villain.

If you can't tell I think this is the most outrageous and strawman claim people are entitled to their opinion and the reason Content Creators dislike MMR is because of how boring it makes streaming the game you'd know that if you had the following they do but I'm taking it as you most likely don't since you're on here trying to make them the argument over the fact MMR just isn't fun.

Here's a piece of advice for Behavior and all those defending MMR. What keeps a video game popular is the streamers It's not the player base It's the people who bring eyes to the game If they dislike MMR like a lot of other people do and have valid reasoning which a lot of them have presented. If Streamers find MMR miserable they're gonna be less likely to keep streaming the game leading to less eyes on it a perfect example of this was Evolve and even H1Z1 people stopped streaming the game and It died.

It's fine you wanna defend MMR no big deal but to make comments and blame streamers for having an opinion is a dated mindset. Maybe put yourself in their shoes would you rather interact with your chat and play something entertaining or pull out the sweat rag and be forced to focus on the game versus being an actual streamer. Not everyone is low MMR some people are High MMR and feel the boring effects it brings.

There is no winning or losing in this game...it's about getting points and rank DOES NOT matter. That's the mistake most players make thinking you're supposed to win or lose.

While it is their product to do as they please with and I don't agree with demanding anything from a developer, I always thought:

Why don't you guys tell them what a win is? Why are you, the players making so many posts about what you want or don't in the game say something like:

Example raw post: I think a win is escaping the trial OR running the killer for most of the match (whatever number of minutes you, the player, see fit) OR, what I think is the best answer for a win, having close to 0 seconds wasted in the match, always on a gen or healing a player or the killer chasing you. Of course sometimes you need to hide, but the better a player manages his/her time in this game, in my eyes the better that player is.

For killer, since you are 1vs4, you are solely responsible for the progress you make in the match. For my matches I go for a minimum of 2 kills with as many hooks as possible, but although maximum is 12, I would never go for more than 10, 9-10 is my sweet spot. As long as gates havent been opened, for me that is perfect, regardless of how many gens have been repaired or progress on the gates.

I mean, to me it's pretty clear that a lot of players don't just want to ride the wave of whatever BHVR wants to make the game into, hence the majority of forum posts are negative, but asking BHVR continuously about something until you get the answer you want seems less productive than telling them what you want.

I hope this makes sense, tag me if something is not clear or has logic holes.

i agreed there is no winning or losing in this game! As long as u have fun, i mean even u are Top 3 in DBD, does it mean something? nope~ but if u are top 3 in LOL or DOTA2 that's different story. Just enjoy kill or escape that's it~ Enjoy!

It's a secret because otherwise it would be abused like it's predecessor was. The point is to make the matches balanced and fun. If that information was told to the players it could negatively affect match placement like it's predecessor did.

I mean, either being top 3 means something in both genre or it means nothing in either. Unless you mean top players get on professional teams and make actual money, but that is kind of a different tangent.

Chase time, Match length, Number of Gens when the Match ended, How many hits Given/Received, duration between hits Given/Received, Time not in a chase, Consistency of hooks (calculated in multiple games).

    Something like that.

You know what a good outcome of a match is. If you have any decent level of experience in this game you will know if you have a good or bad outcome, you don't need the system to tell you.

The whole point of SBMM is that it's something that works hidden in the background. You shouldn't have the think about it, at all, because you should always be going against players of a similar skill level to you. Which allows you to focus on your game, on what you're doing, on making good plays, avoiding mistakes, etc. instead of worrying about "is this killer a higher rank than me?" "oh I lost because I went against high rank survivors!" etc.

When matchmaking just works, and you're paired with players of a similar skill, then the outcome of the match is no longer determined by the matchmaking, it's determined by YOU.
