How sweaty have your killer matches been?

I am currently without much effort at a relativly high 4K streak. The matches i get are pretty much the same as they are when i play survivor. It is like a randomizer is shoveling 5 people together. Joke level of MMR.

Played 2 games, both saw a survivor dc early on so ended up farming with the others. Amusingly, the last 2 survivors last game started to play really sweaty all of a sudden to avoid being the 3rd one out 😅

Survivor games have been really well balanced so far, mostly 2 out 2 dead.

Then try not sweating as much if you aren't having fun? I'm not sure what else to tell you. Sounds like you are getting survivors of similar skill and that is what the system was designed for.

  • I've been having easier survivors. It's been more enjoyable not going against people totally out of my league though.

Sbm and competitive matchmaking is bad for an unbalanced slow to update game with a dev team more obssesed with aesthetic and look then actual enjoyable gameplay. This need to be repeatedly reiterated. Its gonna take likely at least 50 games on each killer to get a balanced matchmaking experience for that individual killer. So many people are throwing around there experiences despite only playing 5 games which as any game dev and they will tell you that sample size is too small. If you play a wide swath of killers its gonna take a long time for each killer to get the correct mmr for each of them. Make no mistake mmr is not functioning now because a lot of people haven't played enough games yet. But don't worry in a week or two you'll see what sbm means for dbd and probably two months from then you will see a low effort balance patch that fails to address the large number of dbd's issues.

Since they implemented SBMM I play more killer now. When I started this game I decided to play more survivor because my matches as killer weren't fun at all. I was sweating a lot with players way better than me. Now I can have fun playing killer. I'm not bullied anymore by pro players. I can get 3 or maybe 4 kills with one gen left. Of course, I also lose them and they can all escape, but if I enjoyed the game I'm satisfied.

"People who want SBMM are like this second group. They don't think they are capable enough. No self confidence. They're not willing to put in the time to get there. They choose the easy path to their trailer park with the other low achievers."

I take issue with this statement. Between work and raising a family I don't have a plethora of free time to devote towards a single game. At best I might have 10 or so hours a week to play games. It has nothing to do with wanting to take the "easy path", or lacking the drive to get better. I want to have a good time just as anyone would, but I don't want to feel punished for lacking the experience necessary to enjoy this game. I play this game because I do find it fun and I do enjoy the (non toxic) community, but sometimes BHVR doesn't make that easy.

The developer update in July stated that we were supposed to get an offline bot mode, but it never happened. For people like myself that would have been a godsend, but I had to continue practicing against far better players, and getting stomped repeatedly doesn't make for a great learning tool.

You stated that you used to win over 90% of your matches, but that's no longer the case. It sounds then like the MMR is working as intended. Not saying it's perfect, but playing against more competent players is what it's supposed to do. Naturally everyone's experience will vary, but if you're winning over 90% of your matches, then it's not working as intended.

I have been getting a lot more map offerings and key + hatch offerings lately. I would say nearly every third game is forsure at least a map offering.

That's pretty much the only thing that bothers me a bit.

Inconsistent, either i get 3 really good survs ( SWF or just good randoms ? ) And 1 potato/Decent surv, or 2 very very good survivor and 2 potatos.

When it's 3, i just lose by default because i'm rusty as hell when it's about playing loops correctly unless they massively fuckup, very sweaty matches when it happens and can be fun or unfun depending on the map / Skill difference

When it's 2 decent players and 2 potatos it's usually a 3/4K, they're usually the most fun matches altho they can be boring if the potatos have no idea what they're doing.

I don't know. Queue times are to long. And I am not gonna sit in a 10 minute queue to then either get potential cheaters, dc's early on or sweat squads. Survivor has also been kinda frustrating so I guess I'll take a break from the game for now.

I've gone from Infectious Fright, Knockdown, Dark Devotion and Bitter Murmur to running Ruin/PGTW/BBQ/STBFL on Pig in the past 48 hours.

The non meta build was fun, but after several days of nonstop sweat or get bullied I decided I wouldn't mind a couple of kills.

Solo survivor, mid-rank, Steam, 700 hours total: Not overly sweaty at all. Well, the occasional sweaty Blight or Ghostface but that's to be expected. My games are as good or better than they've been since before SBMM.

Tons of people in this thread saying how mmr has made the game sweaty and unbearable. Nice to see that I'm not the only one hating the game rn.

Finally played some killer games today.

    Played survivors the days before.

As a survivor, globally i had a better experience with good teammates and good killers.

As a killer, it appears i ended up being ranked on the high side of the SBMM. Played Blight and Trapper, against really good survivors (everytime at least 2 or 3 good loopers, everyone on gens when not in chases etc...).

It's impossible to win on some maps, even impossible to get a kill if you don't camp. As a Blight, if you end up in an indoor map, you can DC, it's useless you won't do 1K.

On open maps, well, if you don't camp and tunnel, you have 0 kill. The only way to win now is to play terribly bad and to kill a survivor early. Then you can get a 4K.

So as a killer in high ranks, terrible experience.

The SBMM will be removed in less than 2 weeks. There won't be any killer anymore in the High skill MMR.

And oh yeah, this great community fulfilled with toxic players always use indoor maps offerings, of course so you play on indoor maps non-stop and they bully you.

Why would I purposefully throw matches. I think that's against the rules.

Consistently unfun, i can play any build i want and pretend that I'm having fun by doing silly stuff but at the end of the day i have to accept that i won't win by playing nice, meaning i won't win pretty much ever again

the game is either going to die or the system gets removed before the end of next year, mark my words

I'm getting pretty close to that. I haven't even played in two days now, which is strange, especially considering it's the weekend. @justad00d uninstalled a little earlier today and is trying to get me to find a new game to play together with him. I can't see sticking with this game in this state.

With my main killers who i'm very good with I get survivors who shouldn't be anywhere near my games I play for & generally get 12 hooks (well 11 I let last one out)

As killers I rarely or have never used I'm getting top rated survivors who are pretty much out the gate in a handful of hooks.

Even accounting for the fact i'm "learning" multiple new killers & I don't care about my kill rate clearly those game matches are completely the wrong way around.

As an Iri 1 Killer. Last match I played as Legion, and used Dark Devotion, Hex: Plaything, Tinkerer's, and Coup De Grace. I got 2 Kills, out of 9 hooks. I am unsure if they were SWF. Most of them had at least 2 or more of the top 6 Survivor perks, the other perks were things like Prove Thyself, or Kindred, so still decent perks, but none were running a memey perk like Slippery Meat, or Red Herring. I maybe kicked gens three times that whole match?

I feel fine running builds like this now, because even when I lose to sweaty 4mans I don't lose rank. It's just I wasted 4-6 minutes, and got told to kill myself. I'll get one of those every 5-6 matches? Not that big of a deal anymore, or I just became desensitized to it.

maybe my mmr is inflated but i keep getting demolished. my last match was pretty casual though, except for the endless flashlight clicking

Incredibly sweaty. Almost every single game is against very good survivors with the same meta perks (DS/BT/DH/UB) over and over. These survivors also hold W incredibly early so it's literally impossible to apply any reasonable form of pressure before almost all the generators are gone considering it takes 2+ minutes to down somebody.

The only relief I get is by switching to a killer I never play, but even then, a few wins and the sweaty survivors are back in my games doing all the gens in 4 minutes.

I'm done with killer I think. Time to be a survivor main and get carried by exhaustion perks and holding W for a minute per chase.

Because it isn't fun to play DBD without intentionally throwing the match.

Does that not seem like a massive problem?

  • Rhe2veja
    Rhe2veja Member Posts: 63

I´m getting absolutly destroyed by swf, most of them with flashlights or meta perks, not to mention that all of them have 6 times my hours played, dammit just found a guy with 8000 hours, how is that even possible??? i only have 600.

  • IronKnight55
    IronKnight55 Member Posts: 2,952

Not really, no. If you sweat, then I expect you to be paired with others that do the same. Don't sweat as much if you're not having fun. I don't intentionally throw the match, but I don't sweat for the 4K either. I'll also usually give the hatch to the last player as well.

I finally played some killer games, they were on Wraith, who is my main. The games were pretty sweaty. Had to play to win for sure. Clicky clicky, map offering in a 4 man SWF on coms using, all meta perks, never ever play killer so they have ZERO empathy type players is what I faced. I'm pretty much done with DBD for a few months at least. I was already taking a break before SBMM went live, but I reinstalled the game to try the SBMM out. I'll come back when the devs can admit they have neglected above average skill level play's balance issues for too long and are now making changes to make the game more fair at that level. If they don't, then I guess I will just stick to watching DBD content on Twitch instead of playing.

People shouldn't have to change how they play so they can have an enjoyable experience. If you are good and win a lot, that isn't a bad thing. It isn't the player's fault that when people are good at survivor that it breaks the little game balance DBD has. Or when they are a good solo they just face Blights with Undying Ruin Tinkerer.

  • IronKnight55
    IronKnight55 Member Posts: 2,952

If you sweat then expect to get sweaty players in return. It's silly to complain.

  • MarcoPoloYolo
    MarcoPoloYolo Member Posts: 508

Moderately. I'm definitely seeing a huge amount of sweaty builds or typical SWF shenanigan's, but I'm not typically having an initial chase and having a 3 gen pop and feeling like the game is over. Whether that's me or the survivors, who knows. Then again, I'm not sure I've had 10 matches with Pinhead yet. I'm also intentionally using a less sweaty build and having a less sweaty playstyle and let the game run its course.

  • Mew
    Mew Member Posts: 1,832

they haven’t been that sweaty, though ive been playing pinhead mostly so that’s probably why

certainly feels way better to play than survivor though

  • solidhex
    solidhex Member Posts: 891

No. I already had to stop playing with some friends because their MMR was probably so high we only got ruin/undying/pop nurses and blights. 2 of them quitted now because playing tournament dbd is not fun. People playing this game together is one of the reasons this game is still successful. Without that I wouldn't be playing anymore, killer becomes kinda boring after 2 or 3 matches and solo is too frustrating.

Taking the medium of all players is perfectly fine. If you chase the best looper for 5 minutes it's your own fault. Having a very weak player on your team is more influental (dies fast and does not much, 3v1 is ez for killer) than having one very good player on your team, who maybe doesn't even get chased until the end.

  • solidhex
    solidhex Member Posts: 891

You will get better matches after some matches. I also main Wraith and I played against fog whisperers and tournament players since sbmm got enabled. Killers were used to get 4k in 2/3 of the matches, these times are over. The new reality is sweating every game if you want to be top level. If you want to chill, the only solution is to play chill. You will get chill survivors after a while, then you beat them easily and the circle continues...

  • SweetTerror

I too watch DBD streamers more than I play the game. I've had far too many bad experiences playing killer that I had just accepted that DBD wasn't the game for me. I didn't want to sweat. DBD wasn't made to be a competitive game, but professional teams like Oracle show just how broken SWF can be within this game, and just how much a well coordinated team can completely destroy any killer that doesn't camp or tunnel.

  • DaWeezerd
    DaWeezerd Member Posts: 256

So what you’re telling us is that SBMM is working as intended? Great! Play more chill if you don’t want to face your skill level every match.

  • GaussUnit
    GaussUnit Member Posts: 1

I don't play sweaty builds and the SBMM has turned into the "Brutal Killer" simulator. Can't have any fun with your build and it's boring. So many 1 kill games unless I were to choose to tunnel early, which is the major survivor complaint of SBMM.

  • SweetTerror
    SweetTerror Member Posts: 2,695

Wow. You guys were right. This has been an absolutely abysmal experience. I was hoping that the SBMM would put me with people of similar skill, and I just played two matches back to back where the survivors just walked all over me.

First match as doctor and I only got two hooks and everyone escaped. My second match was with Pyramid Head and I only managed three hooks with one kill. Screw the SBMM.

And to add insult to injury I just bought Pinhead. If the game can't even match me against similar skilled players with killers that I rarely play, then I have no chance for a killer that I've never played with before.

    Great job BHVR.

  • SweetTerror
    SweetTerror Member Posts: 2,695

I decided to change things up and go back to survivor and I went against the most sweatiest Spirit that I've ever seen. She had three hooks before a single generator was even completed.

    Screw this game.

    Agonizing, horrible experience so far.

Tried to play Trapper for a daily and I may as well have been AFK for most of the match with how little impact anything I did had in that match. Every trap gets disarmed pretty much immediately, everyone knows their loops, Dead hard/BT/DS/Adrenaline + Flashlight gaming, that kind of thing.
