Your thoughts on SBMM?
I've been watching from the sidelines as this whole debacle unfolded, but because of college I haven't had the time to actually play DBD in a while nor test out SBMM myself. I keep seeing conflicting narratives about what it's doing or how it's affecting the game, and I genuinely and just looking to hear what other people are experiencing, because I'm considering hopping back into the game!
- Do you think SBMM is making the game more competitive or more casual?
All I gathered from watching it from a distance was that it was a neutral system that simply aimed to match you with players of your skill level, and if you got better, so did your matches. I've seen some people say that it's been making the game lean from one side to the other- from my personal experience, DBD is only as competitive as you make it, and I'd imagine that this system would bolster that for people and satisfy both ends, but that doesn't seem to be what people are saying. What has your personal experience been? I'm genuinely curious about hearing your theories as to how this whole system is working at the moment!
2. In the given moment, would you rather continue testing out this new system, or would you prefer that we return to the old ranking system?
I enjoyed the old ranking because it was sort of a catch-all and I never knew what or what I was going to get, but as someone who definitely runs meme-ish builds, I can see how my perspective on the game would GREATLY differ from someone who enjoyed what was "meta". I didn't mind that there wasn't really an incentive, I suppose, since for me, my incentive was just getting to the next game and getting better, so I'm more inclined to give this a shot as well.
3. Is one side suffering more than the other?
I've seen people say this in regards to both killer and survivor. I play both, so I'm genuinely curious as to how you guys are faring.

1: Dbd always was competitive. And is survivor sided as it stands, Makes my games boring when they just pre-throw / camp pallets and show no skill in gen rushing when i'm trapper or wraith even,
2: Go back to the old ranking system, SBMM can Shove it for all i care. i can atleast do meme builds and have some enjoyment, now i can't do any of that..
3: Killer sucks for SBMM...i'm moreso tempted to walk away if this ain't removed lol

I never played meta builds and never sweated for the 4k. If it happened, fine. But most the time, I would allow the last survivor to get the hatch. And since I like to play Myers, any Laurie's in the match got an automatic escape from me in the end.
I liked to do a rotation of 10 killers, and I did whatever perk build struck my fancy at the moment in the lobby.
Since the second day of SBMM, I am tossed against team after team after team where I have to sweat by balls off and still can't get more than 1 or 2 hooks. This went on for 20-30 games (all on Myers), on the 9th and 10th, and my MMR never did go down. Every match was just the same level of survivors.
The 8th (launch day) was fine, and the matches were balanced and close. I don't know what happened for day 2 and 3, but it was a nightmare with no downward adjustment.
Look, I'm casual. I never played enough in a month to ever hit red ranks, and many, many of my games were not 4k's. My MMR was never going to be high by any stretch of the human imagination. Yet, SBMM apparently tossed me into that end of the pool as of Day 2 and won't fix the mistake.
The old system, as bad as it was, was better than this debacle. I haven't logged in since the 10th, and don't know when I will again with SBMM in the game.

It’s a raging dumpster fire, like I said when it was first tested, like I said when it was tested after that, like I said when it was tested after that and said ONCE again the 2nd day after it went live
BHVR could have spent those 2 years actually fixing the old system and it would have been a better use of their time

1) More competitive, at least for me, because me playing casual in the old system put me here where I am forced to play sweaty or not play at all, in the case of Pyramid Head.
2) Return to rank until they can either make this actually work or have SBMM used in ranked games and make a casual queue based on ranks.
3) Killers. Survivor gameplay is mostly unaffected, in my experience. My killer games have been sweatier, and where I was once getting near-instant queues I'm now waiting between 5 and 30 minutes for most killers, and over an hour for Pyramid Head.

1) People really think now they are in somekind of tournament that they HAVE to win.I've seen so much more tournament wannabes with MMR on both sides while trying to play chill which complete killed my mood to play
2) Old system was definetely less awful imo
3) Playing on both sides feels awful most of the time

1) It's getting rid of all the sweaty players and for ing then to play against each other, so probably more casual. But the game itself was never and could never be competitive, it's just the players that cannot for the life of them understand that they were never really welcome.
2) Stick with MMR, no question. With no MMR, my killer trials were nothing but pseudo-deathsquads no matter how much I lost. 4-minjte trials aren't fun for anyone and I'm glad they're locked into their own hell now. Serves them right.
3) I dunno, I've been getting nothing but good results.
