Does reporting actually do anything?

From your experience in DbD does Behaviour take any action (even reading them) on in-game reports?

This question stems from my experience on PS4. Myself, and my friends, regularly report through in-game reporting using the categories and definitions of those categories (like working with the killer for someone pointing out other survivors or taking the game hostage for slugging everyone down and leaving them for 4 minutes). In five years playing the game and using the reporting system I have seen no evidence that it has any meaning whatsoever to Behaviour. However, my experience is limited to PS4 so perhaps other platforms are seeing some action taken on these reports. Also, I'm willing to admit that a sample size of only myself and my friends is quite small so perhaps others on Playstation have seen some evidence of action taken.

In July 2020 Behaviour published a guide to reporting that is still pinned in these discussion forums. In that they stated that they now have a team dedicated to these reports. However I have still seen no evidence of any action.

Maybe, I haven't actually seen it do anything but I believe that Behaviour is taking action due to in-game reporting.

No, I have seen no evidence of action due to reporting and do not believe that Behaviour takes any action based on in-game reporting.

They should have report feedback when someone you reported got a punishing. Only when applicable, obviously.

Agreed. Something similar to Rocket Leagues "Action has been taken against a player that you reported." It doesn't tell you which player or what action, but it at least tells you that something has happened and thus encourages good reporting and discourages doing things that will get reported.

I have seen 2 cheaters way back get shiny new game bans (permabans) on their Steam profiles a while after reporting them.

I've seen someone that went absolutely nuclear and forced a racial slur, transphobic slur and death threat into a single sentence upload a screenshot of their ban to Steam while calling BHVR a "SJW company" in the screenshot description 🤮

I do believe people get punished, but I'd really like a message that pops up saying "Hey, someone you reported got punished. Thanks for the help!" in-game like in many other games. It would improve trust in the system a LOT.
