Thank you, but this isn't a bug.
This is the Pallet Validation. Basically the server acts on which action it has received first, in this case the server has received the notification that the survivor has dropped the pallet prior to your hit registering (it might look different on your view because you are seeing your own connection to the server). The issue is that the visual feedback to the kill obtaining the hit is instant, so that happens prior to the server rejecting the hit.
The team are aware of this visual feedback, but it's not a bug.
