Trapper pretty much got the Wraith treatment
Wraith: Base-kit old Windstorm (speed boost after uncloaking) in 2.3.0, True invisibility in 4.5.0, later gets Windstorm (faster movement speed while cloaked) base-kit in 4.6.0, soon to get add-on changes in 5.3.0
Trapper: Faster trap setting in 2.1.0, Trap RNG rework in 4.5.0, later gets darker traps base-kit, soon to get the sack (trap limit increased to 2 traps) base-kit as well as add-on changes in 5.3.0
I'm really happy my two OG boys got the changes they deserved after 5 years. However, I'm really hoping the 3rd OG, Billy, gets his well-deserved changes to his kit. He's getting a new add-on pass, but he definitely deserves other changes as well, particularly fixed animations, Punctured Muffler base-kit, etc.

I hate how people are being very negative towards these changes saying they will still suck. Be grateful we actually got the change we asked for!

The Trapper is getting the Clown treatment:
Making a single low rarity add-on baseline that doesn't truly address his issues and nerfing the rest of his add-ons.
I mean both purples they have shown are actively detrimental to the trapper.

It'll be nice to have the killers they've ultimately shied away from become better contenders for play so we get more match variety.

We haven't seen the rest of his add-ons yet. Also, Tension Spring doesn't give Trapper any downsides. I agree Trapper Sack will need to be looked at again.
Clown's treatment was different. He was given a minor yet useful buff in 4.0.0 that removes the slowdown after throwing a bottle, and then they expanded onto his kit later on. Trapper was given buffs to his kit, with the only new thing given to him was the ability to reset traps.
The Trapper change is what many of us have asked for and we should be grateful that they listened. Keep in mind they also gave us base-kit dark traps in a previous patch.

Think about it like this for the tension spring:
You blocked off a long narrow path with a bear trap.
A Survivor gets trapped in it and you go to down them.
They escape then the trap resets blocking off the path FOR YOU THE TRAPPER!
Aka if you ever use it on maps like haddon it will be an active detriment.

Eh, the last part sounds like the issue being Haddonfield, and that's about it. Maybe they could increase the duration for the add-on.

Its still an add-on that makes it so even though you successfully trapped the survivor your own trap can still stun you mid chase.
That is an inherent downside to the add-on as survivors never have a reason to go back to where they just escaped from a trap.

So if you run that add on and you get sent to a map with a lot of narrow hallways that can’t be easily bypassed, you shouldn’t set a lot of choke point traps. It’s an add on that you would use to assist you with traps near loops and vaults, and you would trap accordingly.
Traps that block off an area like that are already detrimental due to that little-known survivor perk, Dead Hard. You won’t see many experienced Trappers using them a lot for that reason.

Yep - A lot of people are overlooking this is basically what all Trapper mains have been asking for since I can't even remember. Pretty much the last time Trapper got a big update so a couple of years I believe.
I feel this is the push he needs to make him a bit better but not overwhelming.
If anything it's a miracle it's almost exactly what everyone wanted for Trapper. There are a few more things players have been requesting but this is a nice step for Trapper.

Trapper may become identical to hag now now that i think about it I guess it was needed but they wont feel very different anymore aside from hags traps being a bit more hidden.

Ranged trap reset. Imagine if trapper could re arm a trap from medium to long distances. Put the ability on a cooldown and suddenly you can give the trapper more presence. Huntress can be top tier all it requires is some creativity and a willingness to do something nuanced.
Was a really bad idea to feature trappers sack. The add on screams i have no idea how this killers works. Since the trap moves out of position when stepped in.

Naturally. What else you wanna do? Most things you can do to buff him will also break him.

His start all traps addon only work good with either Bloody coil or Iri stone (Iri stone is better to pair). Traps reset 2sec after trapping, I also cant think of a good use. Most of the time you want to place somewhere else after a success trap. Or some worse scenario that survivor trapped in a narrow place, they escape the trap and when you come there, the trap already reset itself and you have to pick up.

Love upcoming trapper changes, all but the new Sack,
That downside of not being able to pick up bear traps feels like a bit much. But, guess it could be used for some certain playstyles

They fixed the ‘trap moving out of position once stepped in’ thing months ago. It now stays in the exact place you put it.
