Why do people join lobbies and never ready up?
Maybe I'm just seeing it more lately, but due to the advantage survivors can get by quick switching if survivors do not ready up by 6 seconds left. I leave the lobby.
I don't believe everyone is just quick switching at last second, so why are people joining lobbies even after the long matchmaking times just to not ready up? I only been able to get into a game maybe every 20-30 minutes because every lobby has someone not readying up.

They probably hop in the queue and then either tab out to read/watch something, look at their phone or something else like that.
Source: I sometimes hop into queue, tab out and tab back in when I hear the match starting because I tend to forget to check if I got into a lobby 😄

I study between matches, I only come back to DBD when I hear that sound of loading into the map.

Sometimes I do calculus while waiting for a match lol.

I'll sometimes hit ready to load into a lobby and go off to the bathroom.

It usually ends up being 4/5 ready anyways, so usually pointless. And as mentioned above, just take the time to do other things. That or I’m toxic switching and need to be the last person to ready or wait until six seconds to go.

Peeing, grabbing a drink, making a snack, replying to texts and don’t notice the timer, etc. etc.

I alt tab out all the time with the DBD screen still going on in the background. Looking up stuff online either YouTube video, twitch, or reading Manga.

If I don't ready up it's because...
I'm eating something between matches.
I'm using up some BP before the match starts.
I'm playing with my dog between matches.
I'm taking my dog out to pee (sometimes she poops) quick before the match starts.
I ran to the bathroom myself before match starts.
I'm grabbing something to drink.
I'm playing around on my phone, probably looking at social media.
I'm on the forums typing up a response to something and don't notice I'm in a lobby.

Might as well just wait and see if they last minute swap. You can just leave during the screen without penalty for some reason.

before sbmm, id sometimes be waiting 10 minutes just for my squad of rank 16 potatoes to find a red rank killer. so you may as well go outside and smoke some weed or take a dump.

When I hit the first READY button it can take me 15 seconds to 3.5 mins to find a lobby. In that time I may be doing one or more of the following things:
Grabbing a drink
Eating something
Doing stream shout outs
Running to the restroom
Answering Discord msgs
FYI @Gens_Before_Friends you said "if survivors do not ready up by 6 seconds left. I leave the lobby." and then you said "I only been able to get into a game maybe every 20-30 minutes because every lobby has someone not readying up." - Your wait is 100% self-imposed. Maybe stop being so afraid of items and paranoid that people are out to quick-switch. If items scare you that much - run Franklins because - people who don't bring anything usually check chests and you may end up facing items you are afraid to face any ways.
Personally I don't care what items survivors bring or if they quick switch. I rarely take Franklin's and just try my best to work around them - win or lose.

Like everyone else has said -- it can take a long time, so I queue and then go get a snack, or start reading a book, etc. I only look back at the screen every few minutes to see if we're playing yet.

When I'm playing killer and the ques are really fast like they are at night I give them 30 seconds to ready up. If they don't I leave to find another match. When the ques are fast for killers I frequently find matches faster by getting a lobby in which that all the survivors have already hit ready as soon as I enter.
If the survivors are waiting for 5 minutes or longer for a killer their is little reason for them to not be ready to go as soon as one joins the lobby.

I'm usually in another tab or not sitting down. I'm not staring at my character until a lobby pops.
Sometimes I don't even hear the loud DIIIIIIING. I've never been gone long enough to the point of not being there when I actually load in though.

Reading this entire thread made me feels less lonely when that happens to me. I check my perks and loadout, click ready and then when it's more than a few minutes I start doing something else and only comeback when I get the sound from the match starting, haha.

Because I never know how much I need to wait, so I do side things until I get sound notification *game started*.

I like doing homework or just doing something else between matches. I come back when the match is starting although I'll still at least click the button to ready up. However, I do also just never ready up depending on what I'm doing.

As pretty much everyone else said, usually they're not in the room or didn't notice they were in a lobby.

Well i can take this time to either check profiles (btw killer and night time only player so my queues are less than a minute).
But it's funny when people whine about not being able to play for 2 minutes while getting camped or 4 when slugged but way over 50% of the time i have to first wait 1 minute in the lobby and then again 3 minutes at the end when people without reason (aka already full healed and noone on hook or in chase) decide to not leave without an audience. I don't really care as that gives me time to spam my ability, break left over pallets or walls or find the hatch for extra BP but the irony in terms of pure time waste is quite funny.

Alt tab or spending bloodpoints or last second switch

Just like you said longmatchmaking times.
You really think people will stay in game for that long?
Incidently pro tip for all you all tabbers out there. You can hover your mouse over the dbd program and see when you found a lobby in a miniscreen while watching youtube or something

U have a plane ticket or something? I can spend my BP, talks with others, think about builds/items etc. Why are u in such a hurry?

How can i change to key last second if i ready up?

They could be putting points into their survivors, they could be going to the bathroom, getting a drink, looking at their phone, etc etc. Survivor queues used to take so long I had a friend watch an entire season of a tv show while we waited between games.
Do you think chests should be removed as well? The survivor will have an item you didn't get to plan for, so I guess they should be removed too.
It might be taking you so long to get games because you're choosing to leave lobbies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I play solo and I am very much broke on BP.
Also how would i be in a hurry? The fact i feel i can alt tab and watch some chill youtube means i'm very relaxed.
You are the one who is mad enough to make a forum post for having to wait 1 more minute.
Do you have a plane ticket? Are you in a hurry?

I'm not mad and it's not me who suggests people to hover mouse and press rdy once they are in lobby.

Things I do whilst the timer expires:
Visit the toilet
Watch yt video
Spend BP’s
Check out build
Change cosmetics
Read F1 screens (the character descriptions)
Chat on social media
Visit these forums (I could be queueing right now, for all you know)
Chat with other players in the lobby
Have a sneezing fit
Get drink/food
And the list goes on. I’ve taken up writing as well.
I find it hardly matters. If not me, someone else is going to be tabbed out/AFK. Last minute swaps are not even that common.

Sometimes I can't push the ready button. Ready button is greyed out. Maybe another bug.

Some like to wait to the last second to change to a flashy skin survivor equipped with a souped up flashlight or a key.
They don't want to have the killer use Franklin's or Lightborn. Little rascals.

They ready up, leave the pc, make a Jill Sandwich, come back... match starts.

Once there’s only 15 seconds left, the option’s disabled. Not sure what’s the reason, but I think it’s intentional.

I never ready up unless somebody tells me to.

I used to use it as an opportunity to have a few more swigs of beer. Miss my drinking days sometimes.
