Are they actually getting banned?

Hello

Yesterday i had once again the doubtful pleasure to play with a blatant hacker (speedhack, instaheal, instagen ect ect)

To nobodys suprise, this person was not doing it the first time, since his steam profil was full of that accusation.

I forgot to make a screenshot unfortunatly, but believe it or not, he was rank 1. Combined with his steam profil and the date of the comments, he might be doing this already the whole season. Of course i reported him (and gave the killer the kill, i am SUCH a fair player 😅) but...

.... BHVR, you dont forget to ban these people, do you? This person was extremly obvious and apperently this player is doing this frequently, so how is it possible that the banhammer did not already strike?

Alts exist. No matter how many times BHVR bans hackers they will just swap to another account. What they need is an actual anticheat.

I reported 3 hackers so far with video evidence. I play on PC/Steam and so where those 3 hackers. I reported them via Steam as well as ingame. All 3 of them got banned after a week or 2 of reporting them but I feel like that was Steams doing and not Bhvr's.

You need to make in-game report plus additional report on BHVR site, for fastest result you need video evidence and Steam profile of this person with every information.

Screenshots are helpful too, but you need to catch hacker in mid-air, because you can't catch speedhack, insta-things etc. on screenshot.

It takes week or two and hacker will be rewarded with Game ban on his Steam profile from developers.

EAC is actually like "Welcome hackers, you can do whatever you want". They need better anti-cheat, but another hacked account cost like $5 so they'll keep continue hacking.

It the end, if you have bulletproof evidence it's 100% that person will be banned in short future.

People that cheat and/or hack in the game do get banned, however, if you do encounter them in the game, the usual method is to record it so you can send the additional video evidence to support in a ticket with all the other information they ask to be provided. An in-game report is mandatory at all times though, without one, there is not much that can be done.

You also need to keep in mind that many people play the game and thus report people too, so there are many reports daily the team handling those goes through.

If at any point you believe you encountered someone who might be using those kind of 3rd party programs, I recommend reporting them alongside with a support ticket that includes evidence. The team can the look at it and evaluate the case based on evidence provided and other factors.

Now now that's not fair. Besides, if these forums are anything to go by the real threat out there are these dastardly forum people who "belittle" others by calling them vile, disgusting names like "troll". You guys are fighting the wrong war, the real fight is right here in the forums where the hammer drops quicker than an exposed survivor.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say, to be honest.

They most likely are banned, but there will be some frustrating factors that will be in place. Some might be:

    1. False reports - these clog up the system when people are reporting others because of bitterness. As a result, the more false reports BHVR have to sift through, then the longer it takes to take action.

    2. New accounts - a hacker who gets banned sets up another and the process continues. Unless there's something in place which recognises the place where the account is being made from, it just becomes a frustration for the hacker and nothing more.

    3. Advertisements - by this, I mean videos on YouTube or Twitch which show the hackers in a comical light. It encourages more to give it a try because it looks cool to them.

    4. Reversing a ban - if some people want to protest against the ban, even if it was so obvious that there's no chance, it still goes into the system and likely dealt with by the same team, further clogging up the system.

There are other reasons and this is a sample of what can cause delays and make it seem like nothing is happening. Maybe, with research, they can streamline the process (as they're doing in the midchapter with the killswitch), but to their credit it's a bigger task than we probably imagine.

While this is very unfortunate for your friend and i feel sorry for him, it is also a good sign that they at least get rid of them.

The problem is, that banning cheaters cant be the only way to deal with them. They simply get a new cheap account and start from fresh, no big deal.

Dear BHVR, i know you probably wont read this, but if you do,i want to encourage you that next to optimization a good and reliable working anti-cheat has to be top priority! Too many games died because of cheaters just because the devs took too much time or too little effort to deal with this big problem.

Dont let this faith be yours, thank you!

Does it matter? It doesn't matter at all if their account gets banned, 99% of the time they're a throwaway anyway. What matters is they haven't improved detection to stop these blatant hacks getting through in the first place.

Every time I see threads like this, I think of the countless false reports they are likely getting for dumb things like camping *looks at a certain content creator who will remain nameless*

do you know if behavior is doing anything about the hacking problem? As in trying to get a better anti cheat or anything? or is hacking here to stay?

If anything bhvr probably enjoys hackers. If they catch you, they ban you, they buy the game again. That's more money for bhvr.

There's also the toxic community. I don't need to look at any charts to tell you there's a ton of false reports. I get accused of wall hacking almost every 5 matches. There's so many people who don't understand what they just saw and assume it's a hack. It's not my fault they don't know how bbq or NC works. With all these false reports it's pretty difficult to see a genuine one.

Every hacker ruins the reputation of the game and the company, not to mention that there are mope people quiting because of hackers then hackers rebuying the game. I doubt a few thousend extra blank copies of the game is more profitable for them.

Everytime I've faced obvious hackers they either changed my ui so I couldn't report them post game or crashed my game so I couldn't. The in game system isn't reliable against hackers at all.

  • anarchy753
    anarchy753 Member Posts: 4,212

I doubt they're buying it. They would be far more likely to pirate it or just use family sharing on steam.

Can't they ban their IP so they have to buy a new PC to play the game again? I think I've heard of some games doing that when they encounter hackers.

There's a lot of different steps that can be taken to ban people in different ways, and a lot of ways to get around those bans. All we know for sure at the moment is that hackers are rampant so whatever is being done currently is not enough.

IP bans would ban people from playing using their router; this can usually be circumvented by a VPN though. MAC bans ban the MAC address on the hardware, but there are MAC spoofers you can use somewhere (I don't know how they work), but basically you can get around any form of ban with the right tools

Admit it you guys don’t care about the game, if you did, you’d get rid of the cheaters. I know one cheater who’s been at it for nearly a year. Get a better anti cheat. How many people work at BHVR? 600 or so? Ironic how your anti cheat don’t work on hackers but it banned my friend who used free cam in custom games or whatever it’s called. Nice to know you got your priorities straight. :)

    inb4 post closed.

I hope security gets stepped up but at this point the floodgates have opened to how enjoyable the playground can be to hackers, to be honest I always assumed the hacked perks or items to be much worse than they currently are, it almost seems like the changes made are either influenced by another hacker in a viral clip or word of mouth.

Apparently they can still get into your lobbies, somehow. I do not know much about it, but people who are console only were discussing it and, I believe it was verified by extension.

Yeah I saw that pulsars thread but it shouldn't be that common. At least I hope so.

Your friend got banned for cheating, just like many others have been. If you want the devs to create exceptions for custom matches, that's a suggestion you need to make.

They were literally made for thumbnails on his YouTube channel, nothing more. You aren’t even allowed to join public games with it on.

That's what bhvr wants. People buying the game over and over again. Big stonks

Again, if you feel there should be exceptions for private matches, you need to make a suggestion. However, if someone alters game files, they should always keep in mind that being banned is a possibility.

Went against that a couple of days ago where two survivors were picking eachother up instantly. One of them would body block by turning into a hook and everytime i "would" get them down they would just pick eachother up instantly..

I was upset because i forgot to report them (on ps4 which i dont think reporting on this platform does anything at all). Its more sad than anything, there are really pathetic people out there that cant win normally so they blatantly cheat and make the experience terrible for the killer! Really sad and pathetic these people are!
