Trying something kinda unhealthy for the sake of testing.
I'm testing if sbmm will make people try smurfing.
I got a new steam account just to try it.
So far it is the same but without good perks.
I tried 5 matches of killer, still being sent to haddonfield and the game, 2 dh minimum people still body blocking with bt and stuff.
Currently 2 matches of survivor.
1. I only had 2 perks on dweet, ruin undying plaything pinhead.
2. Survivors sent themselves to haddonfield.
Note: I'm trying this for new players to see if they are going to have it worse because of the mmr or not, currently with these matches I would say if you are a new player, the game is 100% not worth it for them.
Now I personally call myself decent to good at the game so I can play around a few things, but honestly new players should not have to go through what experienced players go through I don't think that is fair.
Testing all the way to level 10 in that account, will update if stuff goes better or if new players are going to have it worse.
Now I have around 3.1k hours.

The perk system and copious amounts of paid dlc make smurfing not particularly viable, imo.

I got everyone except laurie and ash so I think that is not really that bad.

In case someone else got curious, so my matches went about the same as in my main account.
From my 3.1k hours to the 2 hour account.
Same perks for both sides.
Nothing different besides me not having perks unlocked.

It's because new accounts start at an average, base value of MMR, I imagine. Which is really funny, because I doubt people will have the best impression of the game when they have to lose several games in a row without fully understanding why.

Yup, hence making new players experience worse than it was before the mmr was a thing.
At least before they were matched kinda evenly rank-wise.
I don't believe it should start at a certain mmr, it should start lower than that kinda like apex at least no?

For sure. Though I feel like then the system will run into the issue that there just isn't enough players to match the new guys with. Most of us are willing to wait for 5 minutes, because we know "it's that time of the day so role X has faster queue times", but new players might not be so willing. It's really good that you've tested this, I was wondering if it'd really be this bad. I can only imagine this is atrocious for the general retention of newer players.

Yeah, new players should not play this game until it is properly fixed and such.
The fact that my 4th game as survivor I went against someone with almost 1k hour is not something new people should play against.
I understand that I was smurfing and that I shouldn't compare myself to the new players but if it is true that you need to lose about 10 games to play against people that aren't as skilled yet then most likely the game sucks for new people.
Hopefully they get what they deserve not what they have.
Oh, I also had some new teammates that had no idea what they were doing.
Must be fun to play against a ruin undying killer as a new survivor /s.

Haven't played in several months, not since before the Blight came out but for a few games when Nemesis released. So my MMR should be at "brand new player" levels due to having no data to go off of. Played for 5-6 hours straight yesterday and in my first hour or 2 of gameplay it is VERY obvious that the new player experience is very much for either new players or those that are just bad.
Met a lot of cross play people, so I couldn't check their stats. But starting out it was obvious, beyond obvious, that the vast majority of people belonged in the low MMR brackets. Talking people that never look around, never watch the Killer in a chase, try to "hide" after being seen, getting stuck on every wall or rock, all the very clear signs of a brand new player or someone that just does not have any real skill. It was only after a few hours that I noticed Survivor skill going up. Survivor skill is getting better, but as an old Killer main it isn't too hard to tell the difference between someone attempting to be skilled and someone that is skilled. It still feels low to mid ranks.
Don't know why our new player experience gameplay is so different. But from my point of view MMR is working. Not perfect, not even close. But it is working as with me not having any MMR data I was matched with others that seemed to have no or low MMR data as well. Then as I gained MMR data by "winning" so many games Iv noticed over those hours being matched with others of ever growing skill.

Could be because of our servers? I play on central so that could be the thing.
I didn't notice any increase in skill for a while and yes I was winning most of my matches because for some reason even new survivors know that if you hold m1 on a gen all separately meanwhile others get chased then most likely they will win.
Weird thing is that I also saw a few prestige players that played like new players, I'm assuming they dropped the game for a while.

It's because it requires less than 20 hours to get 4 purple perks. Unless you judge by hours u can't tell is it new player or no. So hoping to get a no perk lobby is pointless.

US East for me. As said, seemed that I could see the skill of Survivors grow the longer I played.
Went from obviously new and/or didn't even try. Understood the objective and made attempts. Then came the "I watched this on YouTube!" plays, trolls, or what ever. And it was only towards the end and after 5ish hours that I seen proper looping, jukes, or perk usage being more commonly attempted. Not quite there at what I remember "high rank" gameplay was those months ago.
Could just be hindsight being 20/20. But I swear I noticed skill growth over time.
