As a survivor main i have to say I'm conflicted about deathslinger.
Yes he was really annoying to face against which his ability to zone in on the survivor but I don't want him completely unfun and unplayable for killers he should still be strong yet fair. I still hope that they give him some good compensation for this change and keep him strong and fair for both sides.

Someone in the forums explained a good idea to compensate for the nerf would be to give him more mobility by making him able to grapple himself into stuff and pulll himself faster so he has more map pressure.
They will have to compensate the nerf with something because he wasn't an op killer, just unfun to play against according to many people and this nerf by itself seems unfair.

Survivors don't care if Deathslinger got nerfed. They only care about their fun of running the killer around all game, teabagging at the exit gate, and typing "gg ez" in end game chat.

I'd be fine with him getting buffed in aspects outside of his chase potential, though part of me is happy that deathslinger mains will be suffering for their crimes of playing that piece of ######### killer.
1 -
Not me. I want killers to have fun too.
3 -
As someone said he needed changes, not straight up nerfs.
4 -
hard scoping isn't that bad actually.

Exactly, these changes wouldn't suck if they actually buffed something meaningful about him.
If you remove fluency at one part, at least add it somewhere else too. But all we got was completely useless mm speed buff to ADS which you as slinger should never do.
4 -
He was already not picked, and quite easily countered by just running Spine Chill. Honeslty i think the only good thing out of all the nerf is the TR but the rest should stay the same

Wish everyone is like you, friend.
But sadly, feels like some people just don't care if a killer they like to play gets nerfed.
Not even for being OP.

Tbh I’m happy. I hated going against deathslinger because it felt like you literally couldn’t make a meaningful play against one. He can make 17 mistakes in chase and you could play flawlessly but he’d just quick scope you and bam you’re the one who gets punished. Hopefully thats gone now.

I'm seeing a lot of concerns on Deathslinger posts, please remember this is the proposed changes for the PTB, it's something that will be monitored and is not set in stone at this stage.
6 -
So a killer makes multiple mistakes extending the chase longer and you are upset that he finally landed one hit with his power.
3 -
Please have none of this be concrete.
For the love of god, this isn't even about him being overpowered. I just want to have fun playing him.
3 -
I mean, ofcourse survivors care about their fun more than the killers fun. If a killer is extremely fun to play as, but really boring to play against, you never see those killers try to make matches more fun either.
No double standards.
Personally, the only other change DS needs with this is becoming a 115% killer.
1 -
I’m saying a killer shouldn’t be able to just negate all of their mistakes just by clicking two buttons. It felt like in chase you literally could do NOTHING against a death slinger because even if you out ran him you’d just get hit because of a quick scope.
0 -
DS doesn't need to be a 115% killer imo. He just needs to keep his quick scoping. The CD on canceling ADS is fine and making his reeling have consistent control for the survivor even if the killer walks backwards would give Deathslinger good counterplay around his gun.
1 -
The killer aims well once and hits you is not an issue. He's already made 17 mistakes and should have been punished on those previous mistakes with a long chase. Considering that his gun only does a single health state, 17 mistakes to finally injure a single survivor is a game losing chase.
3 -
I'd rather have the movement than quickscope get as a slinger main imo. Flickshotting will help avoid the warning sound and the speed will allow him to pressure gens better.

He still doesn’t deserve that hit if I’ve made plenty of distance and have capitalized off his mistakes. That’s another problem is his ability to reverse all of his mistakes into a hit. He could miss an attack which causes you to get distance to a window but BAM you’re the one who’s punished. He can instantly remove his own mistakes with a simple two button fast click.
0 -
So because the killer made previous mistakes means he never deserves to get a single hit on you the entire game.
The absolute the entitlement from your posts.
3 -
???no???he deserves to be punished for making said mistake not just have it be a hit no matter what are you even reading what I’m saying?
0 -
Every killer in the roster gets punished for making mistakes as they should. Slinger shouldn’t be any different.
0 -
You are complaining that a deathslinger who made 17 mistakes finally landed a hit with power and that's unfair. No it is not.
If you are unable to make distance with the killer making 17 mistakes, that is a misplay on your part.
2 -
That’s the thing you DO make the distance except it’s all for nothing when he just presses two buttons fast and you’re reeled back into a hit.

This is the extreme entitlement and constant whining that's leading the devs to make these extreme nerfs to all the killers to where a moderately skilled survivor can just run them for the entire game, even though it's a 1v4 game where the killer is supposed to be the power role. It's silly.
1 -
And he landed the hit and you were unable to break the chain. I get it, you don't want killers to have the power to hit you.
2 -
a decent trickster would gank you out in the open 10 times faster than deathslinger could ever hope to, not factoring the obvious huntress as another 110% real ranged because trickster can make all those mistakes and still have the staying power to down you
it's just that unlike those two deathslinger can actually get the drop on someone, but unless you're already injured that whole shtick is a slow reel-in, one health state, a big fat speed boost well outside of his shot range for you and unless you deadzoned yourself a reload + yet further slowdown for him
1 -
Except that there is no counter to quickscoping. Consistent control for survivors would help out, sure, but that still wouldnt make it feel like you could have done something other than a coinflip. You can dodge a huntress up close, you cant dodge a deathslinger's quickscope within 10 meters.
That's the biggest issue why DS isnt fun to face. It's a coinflip at best, and even then, the coinflip is hugely in his favor. Let alone that it's not really a skillful thing either compared to all other abilities since it's very fast and extremely easy. It doesnt ever feel like a Deathslinger has "earned" the hit. Even if he has to trade in precious time to reel you in.
Now, it will take a tiny amount of time to charge the scope, giving players enough time to actually make a play. Flicking will probably become a lot more useful, as that isnt ever needed now. Arguably not even really affecting the 1v1 potential of Deathslinger, just adding a bit more skill to it.

Wonderful idea!

And you are legend for killer mains, because of it. Thank you.

I usually play Survivor, but Deathslinger has always been my favourite Killer to play as. I understood some issues he had in aspects that people complained about, but personally, I never found him to be extremely powerful or bearing absolutely no means of countering. Nevertheless, I did see the changes and they are indeed gutting him way too much without giving him anything in return and I feel it's simply going to make even worse the already lack of diversity on Killers.
They removed his strengths and gave him nothing in return. I will try the PTB and attempt provide any insightful feedback I can offer, but if the changes stick, I am definitely becoming a full Survivor main...
1 -
Have you ever played him?
Deathslinger gets punished a lot for any missed shot (unless survivor is on corner of the map) and chase gets longer, because of it. That's how it is supposed to work. Mistake -> longer chase. That is how it works for him already, so what is your issue?
Nurse, Spirit, Huntress, Blight, Trickster etc. They can make mistakes and then make up for it with using they power well again. So how is Deathslinger different?
0 -
Guess you missed the part that he moves faster while ADS?
0 -
Do not make changes that negatively impacts skill ceiling aiming to increase something's skill floor. That's bad balance game design and what's happening to Deathslinger is an example of that. I know you're not part of balance team, but it's a shame we still have developers making these mistakes.

Every one now that he actually has to do so for longer

This nerf is simply because blood warden and NoED and lack of Survivor's desire to cleanse totems has occurred and people whine a sure lot with a task so easy when 4 people contribute to the side task.
