How To Guide #1: How To Boop The Snoot

I'm not anywhere close to a Pig Main but I play Pig somewhat often and in my past handful of games I've had a lot of Survivors comment that they "Were trying to boop the snoot" and others say they "Didn't get the chance to boop the snoot" but, well, of course you didn't! You ran away every time! Just like you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat you can't boop the snoot if you run!

Listen, I get it, you're a Survivor and I'm a Killer, running from Killers is what Survivors do. But if you want to boop that snoot you've got to overcome that urge to run. Also to help out I thought I'd give a "How to" guide on proper snoot booping.

I think of snoot booping in three stages; Stage 1 is Getting Together, Stage 2 is The Main Event (no not you Ji-Woon, go back to your locker) and Stage 3 is After The Boop. Lets break them down.

Stage 1 involves you and the snoot The Pig being in the same place at the same time, this can come about in one of two ways. Way 1A is you find The Pig and Way 1B is The Pig finds you.

Now, 1A can be surprisingly difficult at times. Some Pigs are shy, they only feel safe while crouched and hiding behind corners, waiting for a perfect time to dash. It's sometimes hard to find this type of Pig. Your best bet is to try out 1B below and if another Survivor succeeds at 1B before you do then head to where they got downed and slash or hooked and you should find your Pig near by. But watch out! If you've got the Camper breed of Pig I DO NOT recommend trying to boop that snoot. Camper Pigs are a mean, sweaty breed and are highly unlikely to respect the snoot boop. But if your Pig isn't of the Camper breed and you do find them then move on down to Stage 2, but first lets go over 1B, getting The Pig to find you.

1B is easy enough, all you have to do is get on a gen. Most Pigs, being Killers, have a natural instinct to patrol gens looking for Survivors to chase (remember that whole running thing above? It goes both ways; Survivors run, Killers chase.) so if you're wanting to be found so you can boop the snoot just sit on a gen for a bit. It might be a good idea to do so with a friend! Discordance Pigs are a bit rare these days, being somewhat of a dying breed, but they are common enough. Also if its a Ruin Pig they may also be a Surveillance Pig as the two breeds have good synergy with each other and often intermingle. It helps that Surveillance is in all Pig's blood even if it doesn't always breed true. Another way you can do the 1B method is just standing out in the open, but this tends to get other Survivors mad at you for not being on a gen. Ducking into and out of a locker might be a good idea to, Iron Maiden Pigs are a thing after all, but don't do it too much! If you keep going in and out of a locker you're liable to anger The Pig and they won't be in the mood to allow snoot boops. Same goes for clicky-clicking your flashlight and vaulting something repeatedly, you're being too needy for attention and probably won't get in any satisfying boops.

So, you finally meet up with the snoot The Pig, time to move to Stage 2. Now Stage 2 is a bit easier if YOU were the one to find HER, most of the time 1B starts with you getting hit once because The Pig was happy to have found someone and she get so excited the wrist blade come out before she could really think about it. But it doesn't matter too much if it was 1A or 1B in the end, the key point is you two are together now! If you're uninjured your best course of action is to crouch and slowly approach The Pig, don't spook them now! If the Pig doesn't move then you can proceed with booping. If 1B worked out for you and you got hit then all is not lost! Walk a step back and crouch, if you're not attacked again then approach for the boops. If you do get downed and given a party hat then you've got a Mean Pig! Mean Pigs don't respect The Boop so you're just out of luck this game I'm sorry to say. Get your hat off when you can and do gens to move on, hopefully you'll get a nicer Pig next time!

OK, so, boops have happened, we move onto Stage 3. Stage 3 varies from Pig to Pig. The majority of Pigs tend to growl during and after boops, as long as they are short little snarls then they are happy ones! But if the snarls go long then you may be annoying the Pig and it's a warning! Sadly this is hard to determine from Pig to Pig, you'll just have to use your best judgment. That said there are some clear signs that The Pig has had enough boops! Just like The Pig respected your boops you need to respect The Pig that boop time is over.

The nicest of Pigs will just move on, lookin for another Survivor. Be aware that this Pig might not always be a Farmer Pig, if they find you again then you'll probably be downed and given a party hat and you may still be at risk of getting a spider hug, and no Survivor wants a spider hug! Just keep it in mind and try booping again later to reinforce the bond and hopefully get a Gate or Hatch.

If you've got a less nice but still not that mean Pig they'll give the long roar and hit you with a dash. This is a very clear sign that boop time is over and you need to run! The Pigs in the middle of this scale will stand and swing at the air, this is their signal that you need to run and they are being fair and giving you a head start. Killers want to chase Survivors after all! They respect your boop by giving you a head start but still want a real chase so don't hold back! See how many gens you can loop them for! Remember to try mind-games and not just holding W and pre-dropping! Make the chase fun for the both of you!

Offerings of items are not needed but always appreciated, just make sure not to pick the item back up again for use later! Or even a new item of the same type you find in a chest, as it may be mistaken for the item you gave up before. There is some lee-way here if you're just moving the item(s) to a better area for an offering shrine but it's a bit risky, you don't want to be seen as a taker-backer by mistake after all!

So, I hope this guide is helpful to someone!

Now you too can boop the snoot.
