The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

Camping is common because it is the only thing a killer can do that is fully within their control

Survivors can hide to avoid being found

The killer starts chases but most can only end them by capitalizing on survivor mistakes

Regressing gens takes too long to be meaningful

Hex placement is beyond their control

Anything other than an m1 has to be telegraphed, anything that breaks this trend WILL inevitably be nerfed

Camping doesn't win games unless you are facing a very bad group of survivors, but is one of the only non-reactive actions a killer can take, one of the only ways they can dictate how the game is played.

If killer control of the game continues to be lost, no matter how "viable" or "powerful" killer is your going to see more and more killers either camp or quit.

i mean yeah, its obvious. If it works, why should they stop it? Same goes for tunneling or slugging. But the more experienced the survivors are the less effective it will be.

Unless its a comp match were camping with noed is needed to secure a kill.

Sure but I get bored doing that, I hit and run everyone mercilessly without hooking for most of the game coz it gives me lots of fun dragging the game out coz they have so much trouble getting anything done XD

Well, I’d like to see you play killer. You’re probably just not good and that’s ok. Keep practicing!

    HAHA! XD

my man, or lady, you still didnt get it, do you? Maybe read my original comment to this thread. The only occasions where i do camp is when survivors play like pepegas and allow me to take advantage of it. Why would i ever camp against good survivors? Its the most dumb thing to do.

even camping isn't in there control. I love running the anti camping build (camaraderie breakdown kindred openhanded) which punishes camping by making it take forever to kill me. so no even camping isn't reliable anymore

That face when I realize I am losing after my first down when no gens have popped. Oh dear, you found me out, legacycolt. I really only drag them to the basement and beat them on hook because I have self esteem issues from my loser mentality. I can only project my frustration on that innocent soul to feel SOMETHING.

Even camping isn't a surefire way to get a kill. The game will just take away your grab and then they all body block and run out the exits. This is why people face camp with Leatherface, because his chainsaw actually gives him the advantage.

Well, if you’re camping without gens being done.. then you need to learn how to play the killer role! Keep practicing!

There is such a thing in the world as toxic positivity. Not only that, but this is pretty hostile for such passive-aggressiveness.

This forum has alot of things in it, but I think we could do without such arrogant behavior.

This forum really needs a way to block people who are just here to troll (granted, I'm sure I'd be on peoples' block list too with a lot of the dumb stuff I've posted here).

A point I think the original post is making, that many survivor-mains don't get, is that killers ONLY facecamp if they're having a really bad time. Period. It's most obvious when a runner-build survivor kites a killer around the entire match while the other survivors do all the gens, and then the killer finally downs that runner and facecamps her. But having a really bad time can extend across multiple matches; if a killer starts a match by facecamping for no clear reason, ESPECIALLY if they do so as Bubba, there's a 100% chance that they got curb stomped by red-rank SWFs the last couple of games, and are furious and want to take it out on the next group which unfortunately happens to be you. (Arguably, this is dbd at its most immersive -- because the killer player is feeling like a frustrated, sadistic monster -- but it doesn't make for great gameplay.)

I hope -- but do not actually believe -- that the devs have some really good analytics on facecamping, and can look and see what causes it, and work to fix it, or nip it in the bud before it happens; for example, if a killer gets completely steamrolled, maybe their SBMM rank can take a temporary dip to give them an "easier" match to let off steam. (I feel like this has happened many times for me purely by chance, and it always helps, and I usually realize mid-match that this isn't the sweat-with-friends kind of team I had the last few matches and play a little friendlier as a result.)

Killers don't need to be having a bad time to face camp; I know people who play exclusively to face camp and enjoy doing it, though I personally prefer to chase after who ever comes for the unhook to force the amount of survivors on gens down to one.

My point is that any action a killer can take that isn't camping or playing nurse is reliant on the mistakes of survivors, and is thus not fully in the killer's control.

The philosophy behind the ads nerf shows this: the killer must telegraph their power to the survivor and give them a chance to react before they can use their power. Most killers are designed this way, with pre-nerf slinger being one of the few exceptions.

Face camping hook does not give the survivor that chance to react or avoid, and is the only aspect of the game that works this way. It will lose you games against good players but you have actual control of the outcome for that survivor until they die.

You’re not supposed to chase one survivor during the entire match. If you can’t catch them, go for someone else. If you get angry, it’s your own fault. No need to facecamp because someone is better than you. That’s just immature.

Also there’s no such thing as „red ranks“ anymore. We now have SBMM. If you can’t win matches, then you obviously need a lower MMR for your killer. Just practice and you’ll get good!
