Question about cosmetics

If I don't have a certain character, will I still get the cosmetics I've unlocked prior to getting said character?

For instance, if I don't have clown but I unlock the rift cosmetics for him, will I have them on him if I buy him afterwards?

I'm pretty sure you do get them, but I wanna be a 100% sure.

probably. a lot of games can have you unlock cosmetics for a character despite not actually owning/unlocking them. i doubt dbd is any different,

Yes, it should be like that if you get a cosmetic through the rift for a character you don't own or buy it in the store, you own the skin. Once you get the character, the skins will be unlocked. I don't own Clown and I just tested it in the PTB by purchasing him with shards and I had the outfits from the rift for him unlocked.

Yes, you can unlock cosmetics for a character you don't own, then wear them when you unlock the character. If I recall correctly, you can also buy cosmetics for characters you don't own.

Yup. I didn't have Felix or Elodie when they did the codes for Xmas sweaters last year or when Felix had outfit in a rift before Anniversary event. When I bought them with shards I had the previously unlocked cosmetics on them.
