Should charms be abandoned?
When they first came out I added some of the interesting ones to my hooks. But now I rarely change them, barely notice them on other killers' hooks and I can't even see them on survivors.
Should the devs stop designing new charms and focus their artistic efforts elsewhere?

Absolute waste of time.
I mean does anyone even notice them? I personally think the whole battle pass thing is a load of rubbish tbh. It only ever contains maybe one costume each time that looks kinda nice, but even then i'll be damned if i play DBD enough to ever unlock it. Even more so with the extremely fun and balanced mmr system.

Charms are decent only for killers, on survivors you can barely see them. Also would be nice having exclusive charms otherwise theire just worthless

Instead of charms, the artists team can design items that we can wear or put on the hook.
It could be a backpack, accessories for leg, head, arm and it can be anything that fits survivors and killers. but this time is not cosmetics but accessories that can adds variety and it will look like we found that item somewhere in the fog. every accessory can look dirty, bloody or old in someway.
I will not lie that i want a backpack that is not included in cosmetics or lantern accessory.
As with other games, accessories that can be customized as we wish are very popular.
DBD have really nice cosmetics and with accessories with the same theme can be so cool.

To be honest I wonder if the people that used to design maps every chapter, are now designing charms. I loved having new maps.

The majority are utter crap. One or two look alright on killer hooks but the survivor keyrings are just turd-worthy.
Those gravestone/icon ones which are the same bloody design but about four different colours and take up four different tiers on the rift: The worst.
And not forgetting we have all the usual starry-eyed squealers yelping on about what latest fad should be a charm. It's all so tedious.
So yeah. Along with Raccoon City and broken eyes, charms need to be flushed down the bog.

Would 100% be on board with axing charms because
1.) They're stupid
2.) It would be comical to see how actually empty the rift is without them
Would much rather have cosmetic tokens in the rift instead of charms (i.e. you unlock 6 tokens per rift, can unlock 6 cosmetics of your choosing for free)

While I actually like charms, I'd rather they focused on stuff like hair textures and repopulating grasses, if not a complete redesign of the ugly floors (note: I absolutely did not say 'ground') which are on all of the outside maps.

I understand rift needs fillers but charms are useless. I never use them

I voted no but at the same time I wouldn’t mind if they weren’t a thing anymore. There’s only a few that I like.

I never liked Charms, I never use them, I still want Country flags BHVR, but... its a little too late to abandon this.
But there is no game I love every aspect of.

They should certainly focus on them less. And for the tier 70 rift charms, they seem to be running out of ideas.
I said it from the beginning that charms were going to become the junk drawers of DbD, and I was right. So, so many pages of charms it's impossible to find anything. It doesn't feel worth the bother to sift through them looking for what you want. And there are so many that are just recolors of a simple design with no variation, they're only there to fill rift spots that would be better spent on Iridescent Shards or something.
I also don't like that the charms aren't universal. All charms should be universal. I can't have Dwightcrow on a survivor and I can't have Mr. Puddles on Clown's hook. No one likes that limitation of killer or survivor only for charms.
tldr: I really, really want them to stop filling the rift with multiple recolors of flat uninteresting charms. Plus, a way to select charms I don't want showing up in my inventory when decorating my hooks would be much appreciated.

I am against it. HOWEVER, they need to rethink the concept of Charms. Which means - less Charms (far less Charms), but better ones.
IMO Charms like the Pride-Charm, the Rift-End and Tome Level-End-Charms, seasonal Charms (like Dwightcrow) and those Dolls you can find in the Rift are alright. But the rest is just rubbish. Seriously, nobody needs the same Charm 5 times with an Add-On or Perk Symbol on it, nobody will use them. And the Rifts are stuffed with those.
So I would reduce the number of Charms drastically so that they are more special. E.g. I only use the Pride-Charm and the latest Rift- and Tome Level 4-Charms. Simply because those have the coolest designs (and to show support, obviously). And I have not seen many different Charms on Hooks. Sometimes I even see the first Charms, which indicates that the player does not care for them at all.
So, I would boil it down to:
- Rift Tier 70-Charm
- Tome Levels-Charms
- Seasonal Charms
- Character Dolls (can be in the Rift, I would just put those into the free Track)
- Special Occasions (e.g. Anniversary, DLCs, Pride, etc.)
Those would still be more than enough Charms (probably still too many), but they would not be meaningless copy&paste-Stuff which nobody will ever use anyway.
The spots which are now empty in the Rift should be filled with mystery Boxes - they contain Add-Ons (for Killers), Items (for Survivors)... Can be a random Item for the Survivor you just played/have selected when reaching a new Tier or who is featured in the Tome. For Killers, it is one of the Tome-Killers, can be anything from brown to Iri. Also, some BPs and small amount of Iri Shards can be in those Boxes (I would also suggest Boosters, but this is an idea I never have written done and I need to do that at some point).
Of course it would still not be amazing to get a brown Medkit or a common Add-On, but it would at least not be worse than getting a Charm with a Leaf on it which you would not use anyway.
tl;dr:
Make less Charms, but make them better so that they are more special. Alternatives to fill the now empty Spots in the Rift would be Items, Add-Ons, BPs and Iri Shards.

They've committed to charms, so I don't think it makes sense to remove them. I agree that a lot of them seem like random stuff no one would want, but we each have our favourites. I also kind of like trying to figure out which charms suit the personality of each character. I just wish so many of them weren't segregated to either killers or survivors. I know the excuse is that killers wouldn't decorate their hooks with chibi versions of the survivors or whatever, but I think we've already broken our suspension of disbelief when they're decorating their hooks at all.

Charms were- and have always been- fluff content. They are tiny little bits and bobs that can be interesting to look at for about 5 seconds but after that they're so small and insignificant they are basically worthless.
It was very obvious from the get-go that charms were created to be filler content for the Rift so as to make it seem as though it had more rewards than it really did and thus give the impression of a more worthwhile purchase / investment. I don't believe there's a single person in the community that would actually prefer a charm over a real cosmetic outfit (or even just a piece of an outfit) that can actually be seen by other players. Even some of the lowest valued common or uncommon cosmetics, are comparably more worthwhile than the highest valued charms.
This would be far more evident if they had charms added to the in-game store, because the sales of charms would likely be woefully inadequate by comparison to the sales of regular cosmetics.
If the devs need something to make the rift more worthwhile, literally cycle existing cosmetics from the shop that have never been in the rift. Even better: add iridescent shard tiles that repeat like the auric cell tiles do, so that players can earn a cumulatively significant number of shards that they can then use to buy a single rare outfit or provide significant progress toward a very rare outfit. Now THAT is a real incentive. Not charms.
There are also those fantastic ideas of the devs creating alternate moris like the devs do Executions in For Honor, having different mori animations for different killers would be amazing and badass and again: provide way more incentive to complete the rift in its entirety than stupid piddly charms. Like- there are examples of QUALITY content and rewards that the devs could have chosen to fill the rift and they went for charms anyway.
