Becoming a joke now
Last 8 games have been an absolute joke as killer. Flash light bully squads in 4 out of 8 of which, 3 of last 4. Having a few survivors d/c a lot also which again spoils the game for everyone. 4 female survivors (always female characters) just set out to make the match horrible. Ive been flashed light saved about 20 times in my last 7 games and im starting to get really fed up of it. Never had this in the 4 years of playing the game. Always looked forward to playing dbd after work in the evening, that enjoyment in waining atm. I like a challenge swf bring, but every game ain't fun at all.

every tried looking at a wall? Franklins perhaps? Maybe a little bit of Lightborn?
27 -
I play as Oni, its hard enough hitting jukers, but being flashed every time I down and with the rest of them spam vaulting and jumping in lockers. Im litterally playing for there enjoyment, not mine
6 -
Use lightborn if you think it'd help.
4 -
Survivors want you to play for their enjoyment but you aren't forced to oblige.
8 -
just a little bit
2 -
I normally don't mind that, but after 7 straight games of sweating, it gets a bit tedious. Last game wasn't too bad, yet another d/c and 1 flash save.
2 -
Don't have either lol.
0 -
idk what your issue is with the whole 'always female survivors' bit but go take a breather
2 -
I dont want to be mean, but if 20 Flashlight Saves worked against you in 7 games, the problems are not the Flashlights... Nowadays it is usually a miracle if two happen in one game.
6 -
If they're constantly harassing you that means they're not on gens. You'-re clearly making tons of mistakes that can be corrected by recording your games and watching them, find some spots where you could of done better and keep a few of them in mind for future games

A wall is available to every one
1 -
But looking at a wall doesn't work
3 -
I understand your frustration, I just had a couple really rough games. I don't know why I bother playing killer on a Friday night. I got Grim Pantry as Pyramid Head and every single time I hit a survivor, they just held W to run to the pantry because it would be game throwing for me to chase there. I managed to get one kill. My most recent game I played against a Team Oracle SWF. All iri rank 1 players on a different platform. They burned a farm map offering and we got Torment Creek. They all had meta perks and strong items. I played as Leatherface. I got five hooks and legitimately couldn't even use my power because of how strong the map is for good survivors. How silly is that? I couldn't even use my power because of the map. That's very fun.
4 -
Get lightborne, I know you don't have it right now but just dump everything into the getting lightborne bucket then get lightborne.
Seriously it's Christmas every game some survivor tries to stun you.
Failing that just look at a wall and walk at an angle. Flashlights suck.
2 -
damn guess I'll stop looking at walls then

If there are at least 2 flashlights in the lobby, switch to lightborn. Maybe Starstruck too. There are few things as enjoyable in this game as picking someone up right in a flashlight and knocking down their friend. Punishing cocky survivors for their complete lack of fear and respect is so rare in DbD and it is SO enjoyable when you get a chance to do it.
3 -
Lightborn, agitation, starstruck, mad grit.
Picking up a survivor essentially makes you into a very angry blender.
0 -
Look mate I get you hate getting flashlight people but maybe it is a lot better than 4 medkits/toolboxes?
Flashlights are easily available and are considered the weakest item in the game.
1 -
Just finish the game or stay afk and move to the next one.

That’s why I bring lightborn, I always bring it in case survivors last second switch to try to prevent me from doing so.
2 -
you talk like there is a wall available in every situation
sometimes you just can't do anything against flash light saves
0 -
Aside from lightborn.
Regardless the few times you can't defend against the save it'll either be your fault for not looking around or them actually doing something well and earned it. If flashlight saved could be negated 100% of the time without a perk it'd literally make the flashlight useless.
1 -
you can look around as much as you want, vs good survivors and no walls around you will not be able to avoid flash light saves, unless you magically down everyone and the person about to be saved does not get picked up or does not have unbreakable during the time which is very unlikely to happen on high lvl play
1 -
What wall are you going to look at when they purposely get downed in the open? What wall are you going to look at when they sit infront of a window or a locker?
Don't come in here just to whitewash someone's good point. You just look like you don't play the game, and are only adding to the toxic entitled mentality the community already has enough of.
5 -
would be great if we didnt have to have at least 3 gen perks to stop the unbalanced and mathematically impossible for killer to stop gens but then use the 4th slot for just that? we cant afford it
1 -
yes you can? You can bait the saves, angle yourself where some one is the least likely to be.
If they're hungry for those FL saves, use it to your advantage
0 -
If they're hungry for the FL save, bait it, angle yourself in awkward positions. Its your fault if you get flashlight saved more than once in a game, you're just letting it happen at that point. And me simply giving my opinion and saying that you can do something about it ain't toxic, its your choice if you want to know how to deal with it or continue falling for things that are VERY easy to deal with
0 -
You don't need 3 gen slow down perks unless you're playing in a tourney, which apparently every one on this forum is other than me.
So, in this situation they're left with 2 choices. Bring a perk to deal with it, or learn how to counter it.
2 -
if you bring a perk to counter JUST flashlights you lose the ability to bring perks to aid in taking down survs faster than gens get done which is near impossible even with ruin undying
0 -
Then don't bring the perk? Just learn to look at a wall? or bait the FL save? If you think the game is so unbalanced that you NEED to bring 3 or 4 gen slowdowns every game, the problem aint flashlights
1 -
The problem is that these squads are really, really good at swapping at just the last second before the match starts.
I very, very rarely AFK. The only time I'll do this is when I'm up against an obvious smurf stompcomp, a cheater/exploiter or a group legitimately just trying to grief.
It really isn't a big deal to go say hi to the wife, get a bit of exercise or watch an episode of One Piece and let them get frustrated trying to provoke a reaction. Occasionally the endgame chat is spectacular.

1st off, I have played both sides to rank 1 and currently play a higher mmr nurse atm, i dont think, I KNOW genspeeds are bs enough to warrant at least 3 gen perks. The problem isnt flashlights youre right its the one sidedness of this game towards survivors. Killers cant keep up nowadays and its showing but no, spirit and deathslinger def need that nerf????
2 -
I mean if I see a lobby full of flashlights I'm actually happy... since they are usually the easiest groups to deal with
They don't do gens, they just go for saves, which makes it VERY easy to snowball.
1 -
Thats not the game being one sided, ESPECIALLY if you're having trouble as Nurse with 3 slow down perks... also you can't tell if you're high MMR, the moment you've reached your skill level the game balances towards a 2 kills, 2 escapes. So technically every one feels like they're high MMR.
The issue isn't the game, the issue is your lack of pressuring gens properly.
0 -
My chases last less than 40 seconds each and with nurses mobility I pressure almost half the map at any given time. You have 0 right to say I am the one doing bad here when you havent experienced what I have, thats just stubborn closed mindedness. Also those games even with even less time in chases all 5 gens end up being done and I get maybe one kill
0 -
I highly doubt your chases last 40 seconds and you're pressuring gens at the same time, as Nurse, with 3 slowdown. And every one has bad games bud, you ain't gonna 4k every game.
0 -
You can doubt all you want but your only reliable source to that is me, sorry bud. And you can def split off and pressure gens while in chase its called breaking off. Corrupt, ruin and undying. 3 gen perks the undying counts because without it ruin lasts maybe 1 min at best in my matches. also ive gotten 1 kill the last 3 games and still nearly gotten a pip each time because I dont like tunneling because survs cry so hard about it
1 -
I'm aware what breaking off is, I just highly doubt you're doing it as effective as you think, getting even a 2k isn't that hard since thats what MMR is for, and even then the majority of my games I get 3 kills or more. Been playing for 4 years now, about 3 years of killer experience, play all killers and the most gen regression I'm gonna run is Corrupt and Pop. Of course its all dependent on what killer I'm playing at the time.
But never have I felt like a game is completely out of my control. If you keep blaming the game you're creating a barrier and you'll never improve. Think back on matches you've played and lost and try to figure out what you could've done better. Because there are very few, and I mean VERY few games where you actually have no chance. I'm talking going against a full on comp team where all their hours combined are over 20k and you just so happened to play your first game as Trapper.

Listen man, I have said my piece and voiced my reasoning and all you have done is "well that wasnt MY experience so you are WRONG. YOU are obviously the problem here even though you have voiced your experience you definitely lied and its not the game you just need to get gud". I could have a convo with you if you gave me something remotely along the lines of the balance of the game instead of "wasnt MY experience" or "You just arent that good". Until then, thanks for your time, but your arguments are counter productive and not at all receptive of what I am saying. I agree to disagree, have a good one.

I chase a survivor through 4 pallets and eventually down them, only to get flash light saved. What defense do I have and what compensation is there for such wasted time? I don't have lightborn, yet why should I play with 3 preferred perks whilst they can have all 4 - 12? I like a toxic swf challenge every once in a while, but not every single game for the past fortnight.
0 -
But that's kinda my point. Flashlight saves shouldn't be 100% counterable without a perk. If you down someone and it's not safe and there is clearly a click click nearby then go kill the flashlight. The other survivor stays in time out and you hook the other survivor with the light.
Flashlight gangs do happen, but that's what lightborn is for anyways.

Awesome! Just wish Starstruck would get in the shrine rotation

Considered the weakest item in the game by people who have demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of competitive game balance with their horrendous takes. I would take the average opinion on what is strong with a cannister of salt, as alluding to the amount of salt you would need as a grain is something only they would do.
People who think denying a health state is better than denying a hook state are quite frankly not as bright as these flashlights that you can hit from 90 degrees. People who think just because one survivor isn't on a gen, that they are magically getting value despite wasting time trying to zone them away are missing part of the equation.
Do not get me wrong, toolboxes and medkits are good. Especially with add ons. Well, only with add ons, really. But flashlights are far from gimmicks just because your average survivor misuses them.
1 -
If you get blinded multiple times you need to check your surroundings. I normally run doc cause I can't be bothered with sabo and flashlight.
0 -
I wouldn’t say flashlights are weak if survivors are good at timing the aiming.
0 -
First off I disagree that medkits and toolboxes are only good with add-ons. Being able to heal 1 health state by yourself or being able to finish the gen with a toolbox just before a killer reaches you is massive. Add-ons make them extremely strong, but they are already pretty good without it.
The reasons people see flashlights as the weakest item is because your not doing anything for a chance at a save. It's very inconsistent at high ranks whether you'll get any flashlight value or not. Here is the reasons why some consider it the weakest item.
Btw this is coming from someone who uses flashlights regularly.
- Perks counter it - Infectious Fright, Franklin's and Lightborn.
- Survivor gets downed near an wall.
- Generally you'll leave the gen when the survivor gets injured. This chase can either last a lot longer than expected (meaning your wasting time) or they go down at a wall (still wasting time).
- Certains killers are awkward - Killers like Pyramid Head are basically impossible to get flashlight saves on lockers.
- The devs usually make little changes to them every 3-6 months. This means you end up needing to relearn it again.
- General inconsistency - There are just times where they aren't consistent. I've had plenty of times where a 45° angle doesn't give me a beam, but a nearly 90° angle does.
- Blinding at pallets loses distance - no iron will and the killer has earphones, he'll track you quite easily.
- Killers look around and maybe find you.
When flashlights work they are amazing. They can completely change the course of a game. However at high ranks these are few and far between. It's why a 4 man flashlight team usually are not trying to win while using them, and are only messing around.
They are probably the most balanced item in the game. Some angles are dumb and should be fixed but I don't think they ever should change flashlights otherwise.
Aiming is easy. It's getting that opportunity that's the problem.

Looking at a wall doesn't work

Yeah I kept this in mind and stopped looking at walls, experience has been significantly better
