How to check if you are banned

My brother's account got perma banned for some kind of DLC hack for skins, bought my own copy of dbd but doesn't get past the cutscene. Does his ban have something to do with it? If so, does that mean my account (that used family sharing from his account on the same PC) also got banned? or is it just the pc that's tripping

If a ban is permanent it will show on the Steam profile as a Game Ban.
