Figured out why Pinhead's voice lines got removed.
NFTs.
They got removed because of NFTs. The things that are helping accellerate the global climate crisis, make no sense, and are essentially a rich person flex to show they're rich.
Those things? They're the reason we don't have the voice line anymore.
And BHVR took part in making this one. It uses their character models. It gives access to their DLC. According to EGMnow, they explicitly helped in the creation process.
This all public information now (since Boss Protocol- the creators of the Masters of Horror NFT) have gotten it up and running; here's a screenshot of their website.
Enjoy.
EDIT: I'd like to clarify I am not saying this is 100% BHVR's fault; it's entirely possible a contractual stipulation to aquire the licence was to work on this. Considering how there's copies of the Hellraiser DLC included, that seems likely.
EDIT 2: it's very likely BHVR were forced into this by the licence holders

Oh I forgot! Credit to @/angelolooTW on Twitter for showing me this.

This is indeed one of the dumbest things I have ever seen
10 -
So nft owners get the voice lines?...
2 -
This all looks INCREDIBLY shady and I'm waiting for any official source (either BHVR or Pinhead's license holders) to confirm it.
It would be awful if it was, in fact, real.
14 -
I hope it's fake
7 -
The flip is an nft
6 -
absolutely disgusting. hate to see NFTs and profit prioritised over the future of our planet. we're all going to die because, apparently, nobody can resist stealing a cookie from the jar.
10 -
According to Boss Protocol all licenses are 100% sourced, so either they're telling the truth or they have one hell of a lawsuit coming their way.
They also have an official Twitter and Instagram page, although these are very new (Instagram page has zero posts, for example, and the Twitter's first Tweet was on September 22nd 2021).

seems it, probably not in game but who knows at this point

Simply put, they're the digital equivalent to a collectable card (like baseball cards).

and in the process destroy the enviroment, most look garbage, you dont get anything physical, other people can use it (save image as/snipping tool/print screen) as you have no legal right to it, and they're expensive as #########.
so they're not the digital equivalent at all. they're the far inferior cousin that nobody likes and people pretend isn't part of the family.
12 -
That's a bruh moment
1 -
... I have no idea what this means.
2 -
you get a token saying you own something when other people can still use it, and the cryptocurrency used to purchase them (etherium) absolutely destroys the enviroment.
basically, net bads all around unless you're incredibly rich then you just don't care and can flex with them.
a mistake in technology people don't seem willing to forget about because it lets them feel special.

So taking copyright laws but even lamer and used by fat greasy internet losers? Cool I will happily steal from them.

mhm basically
4 -
if this turns out to be the case im actually going to scream
8 -
money makes the world go round and also causes mass environmental damage due to serious energy use, yay
2 -
this tumblr post explains it a lot better than i ever could tbf
21 -
im so dumb I can't understand this :((
1 -
uhm okay so basically you purchase a reciept that is very hard for most people to see saying that you own the original copy of a piece of digital media. but you dont get to keep it nor do you get exclusivity rights to it. you have bragging rights and that it is. but you do get a copy of it, at least, just not the original that you paid for theoretically so none of the benefits either.
and a lot of nfts are stolen art, too.

bitcoin and ethereum both are very very ######### for the environment from my understanding, with ethereum being a lot worse than bitcoin.
3 -
so you get a receipt that says you own something but in reality you don't actually own or possess it?
0 -
yeah basically.
1 -
Pinhead lost the ability to come for *this*?
6 -
i don't know what NFTs even are and at this point i'm too scared to ask

it really seems it yeah

WTAF BHVR.
5 -
ARE YOU ######### SERIOUS?!
ohh... BHVR, you done ######### up.
18 -
Because the arbitrary locking of certain cosmetic sets and their artificially inflated prices weren't bad enough. Now you have to engage with a currency system that is based solely on faith just to get access to a character's voice lines.
Clown World is Our World

When are aliens gonna take over earth and limit what humans can do
13 -
All i just wanted was the ######### voice lines man ######### T_T
4 -
Sigh
11 -
Same

Can those that bought Pinhead get refunds? The PTB version and advertised version had voice lines. They then removed them? How is that what was purchased?
2 -
A little iffy on the details, but I understand the gist of it.
That is pretty lame to say the least.
But what is etherium and what does that have to do with this? My knowledge on cryptocurrency is pretty limited.

Please let us all be collectively having a nightmare and we wake up to donkeys instead

low-key love this guys videos

Ethereum is what is used to buy and store the majority of NFTs. Mining for Ethereum, as well as storing and trading it, is also very bad for the environment, as most of the energy used comes from coal power, and it consumes more energy than all of Argentina. I believe in one of the two threads about this someone cited the number that the same energy could power an American home for 602 years.

this describes everyones feelings when reading this

The patch notes had it in that they were removed from PTB to live so I doubt there'd be a case there for false advertising
2 -
I am afraid of the accuracy of this
3 -
Thank you ^^

Oh god, I wish I never knew what NFTs where in the first place.
Are we humans really this absolutely moronic?
10 -
Yes. Yes we are. Your username is the perfect representation of the entirity of human history.
We've always been this stupid and dumb and we continue to be because some of us with more money than sense sadly has more money than sense.
6 -
This is some BS. Disgusting.
6 -
Best case scenario: It's fake.
What will probably happen: It's real, and then BHVR tweets "due to blah blah overwhelming negative feedback, we have decided to blah blah cancel our NFT partnership."
overwhelming negative feedback...wait...since when do they care about that?
What will ACTUALLY happen: the game will lose a massive chunk of it's playerbase. BHVR will not care because some morons will buy the NFTs anyways.
10 -
If this is actually true, I am done supporting this game monetarily
8 -
If this is the reason the voice lines got removed and if this is the only way to get them back I'm done with the game.
Doubt most people will even quit but honestly I can't support this in any capacity but go figure this would come to light after the DLC drops so people already invest in the DLC.
