What's missing from MMR

How can DbD make an effective MMR system? Start tracking the right stats.

Just imagine the game actually tracked killer and survivor stats.

Stats available to the player per killer, such as average time in chase, injures, hooks, kills, power usage, number of gens completed, number of escaped survivors, etc.

For survivor, average chase time, heals and gens completed in decimal form, unhooks, protection hits, time spent injured & in dying state, totems cleansed, etc.

Overwatch is a great example of how tracking the right stats can help differentiate the quality of one’s performance.

If DbD had sophisticated stat tracking similar to what Overwatch does, there wouldn’t be so many “nuances” that make MMR too complicated to refine or perfect.

Patrick’s answer to what the definition of a win is, and how it correlates to SBMM, showed that the devs aren’t lazy or naive… just uninspired and unimaginative.

DbD needs to focus on the so-called Live Design it harped on in the Anniversary roadmap so that the rest of the game can flourish, since features such as said sophisticated stat tracking aren't possible without backend optimization and modernization.

    I mean, you're not wrong.

But you're also talking about company that needed years to deal with keys, only to opt for the simplest solution that could've been done over the weekend.

Survivors definitely need a lot more to track for sbm. Things such as chase time and time spent on objectives, aswell as number of times hooked should be taken into account. Time spent alive should also be taken into consideration to demote players suiciding on hook.

As for killers, see how many times each survivor has been hooked and duration of the match along with what we already have, kills. Maybe also take into account how many gens remain at the end of the trial? That's all that would be needed for killer.
