Banning Realms
Simple suggestion.
Every survivor should have the option to ban one realm.
Killer should have the option to ban 4 realms.
Offering would trump the ban(s).
Should not be any problem at all since it has no impact on queue time.

Just give us a specific anti-offering rather than a general one

Not talking about an offering, just straight up banning realms from the roster so we can completly avoid a very disliked map. For me RCPD and Haddonfield come to mind.

And I'm saying "nifty concept, I'd prefer an offering"
Merely banning a realm from the roster might work, but I think free banning would encourage people to pick 'bully maps' even more than they already do. Offerings would make those picks at least a consumable resource

As killer I would just ban the 4 strongest survivor realms and as survivor I would just ban the strongest killer realms,
that doesn't sound fun for either side not seeing specific realms unless you bring an offering to go there
rather keep the current system of no system

They won't allow you to ban playing with a toxic turd they'll never give us map bans.
case dismissed

Banning 4 maps =/= picking a bully map.
And dont forget, the killer can "elimnate" those bully maps by himself.

what is this, ranked?
oh, wait...

Banning the 4 most op maps for the each side is not a good thing? The game would actually get closer to a ballanced experience. How is this not great?
And if you dont care about overpowered maps, then dont use your ban. Or simply get rid of a map that is fair but you dont want to play that round because you had it 3 times in a row already...

Kinda ruins the experience doesn't it. I mean I'm all for not going to maps I don't like, but that would get pretty old really quickly only going to the same map(s) every single time

These bans would basically put every game on coal tower and if I wanted that I'd just go play fighting games where you only get to play one or two stages cause every other one introduces too much lag. It would be better if maps were just made more thoughtfully, I would pay money for one good medium sized map with decent lighting, minimal special effects, and balanced tile and pallet budget.

Definitely not. I enjoy playing on all the realms, even the ones that frustrate me (Coldwind Farm).
People who don't want to play in a series of maps can just go to KYF and exclude maps there. There are Discord servers for finding random people, too.

4 realms, with that i mean 4 specific realms, not the whole set. 8 out of ~40 maps is not "Every match will be coal tower".
On top of that, everybody has his personal preference. I personally would just ban an indoor map like RCPD and 4 indoor maps as killer. Other people would rather go for something like Haddonfield.

Not everyone wants to play in a SWF with voice. Especially not if you wont gain any bloodpoints.
0 -
As survivor, you would get rid of 1 map out of almost 40 and as killer 4 out of 40. That is not exactly "always the same maps over and over".
0 -
40 maps? When it's said ban a realm, I'm assuming that means all variants of said realm.
That would just be an inconvenience for everyone playing and is very unnecessary.
1 -
You don't need to play SWF with voice if you don't want to. The Discord servers are just a way to find people to play with.
0 -
Why would this be an inconvenience?
0 -
Because I'm not going through 40 different maps and variants just to pick 1 or 4.
Even now the chances of getting a map would be 1/40 so the only difference is now you can't get that map. Henceforth unnecessary.
Its a inconvenience because it just adds something that doesn't need to happen and serves really no purpose as it's a low chance anyway.
2 -
Not sure what you mean.
For example i hate RCPD. Whats so bad about it, if i get the option to simply ban it? Because its 1/40? 1/40 is already to much. Its a game, it should be fun

I like RCPD. Not playing it is not fun for me, and constantly having to use an offering to (maybe) be able to play it isn't fun either. Now what?
1 -
If a map is so hated that it gets banned all the time, there might be a reason why this is and we should be happy we actually have a way to get rid of it. Who cares if one person misses it if everybody else is happy?

Hopefully the developers care to ignore childish pleas from people who get outraged by a map. But then again, we aren't getting Hawkins reskinned, so, I wouldn't bet on it. We might totally get tons of maps removed in the future. Why not?

The problem with that is that you could feasibly ban up to 8 realms which are over half the realms in the game and depending on which realms get banned that's up to almost 80% or more of the maps in the game. Im fine with an offering that would disable a map or realm or make it so you can only ban specific maps.

Good god no

If player can ban a map, its understandable. But ban a realm? You know ban Macmillan, Auto heaven, Cold wind, badham means banning 20 map of total of 36? And thats only count Killer. Now having 4 survivors can ban another 4 realms...
The game will be so much fun repeat in playing 5 maps
Edit: if each player is allowed to ban 1 map (not realm) I would pick either 3 original maps with no main buildings (Shefter wood, wreck yard, rotten field)

I just think Sacrificial Wards shouldn't be consumed if a map offering wasn't played.
0 -
I think map offerings should be eliminated for both sides, altogether. Just keep the algorithm fair and truly random.
2 -
Agreed, though I think they need to actually reduce the true randomness of the map selection.
The problem is that a truly random choice will inevitably create lots of duplicate results. In my experience, most nights of playing it almost feels like there's a theme (e.g. keep getting farm maps, Lery's / The Game on repeat, etc). They should add a control that flags the last map played by each person in the current lobby and eliminate those maps from the current pool, or even the past two matches worth of maps. That would actually increase the freshness of the maps in the current lobby's rotation (and would make the map choice feel even more random to the players in the lobby) because they would see fewer times where they play the same map in a row.
Then, just remove all map offerings and leave it to chance. If people want to play specific maps, there are private matches and discord servers to join for that.

Is that’s what causes that?? Same thing used to happen to me for the past year. It stopped though, after the Pinhead DLC. I think I’ve only received the same map back to back a couple of times since then. Just happy it stopped.
0 -
Yeah, it does seem to have gotten better recently. Maybe they did add a check around the Pinhead release. But, yes, truly random generation will make things seem less random.
2 -
That's the human brain for you. No understanding of statistics, always searching for patterns, even in random data.

Yep, exactly. :)

The reason is that people don't know how to play on it and refuse to learn. That's all. Every new killer, map, offering, perk, and so on, gets hated on for that exact reason.
1 -
Childish? Disliking something is childish now? Especially disliking something we have payed for? 🤷♂️
And this is said by someone with 2500 posts and not silent with his complains.

8 maps are 20% and not half of the realms.
When i say 1 realm, i mean 1 specific map. So its not "Coldwind Farm banned" its "Thompson House banned"
0 -
Fair point - then it should not be bannable the first 2 weeks (like it is in other games).
If it is still (or even more) hated after 2 weeks (hello RCPD), then there might be a very good reason which has nothing to do with "refuse to learn".
0 -
Okay that's an important distinction cause thats not how the game distinguishes between the 2. A realm is like coldwind farm and maps are the specific maps in those realms.
