My depressing rift grind (story)

I cashed out of the rift when I got to level 69, because that gave me all my cells back, but I decided to try to grind out level 70 last night. One of the last challenges I had left was the one where you have to fall from a great height while being chased.

  • Match 1: Loaded onto Yamaoka map and had nothing to jump off of.
  • Match 2: Played Haddonfield offering and killer DC'd on load.
  • Match 3: Teammate played Haddonfield offering & I ran upstairs whenever I got chased, but the killer wouldn't follow me so I only got one jump.
  • Match 4: Loaded onto Suffocation Pit. Jumped off the random hills 4-5 times during chase, hoping that would work. One jump counted for the challenge, and I don't know which one.

At that point, I remembered why I hate grinding the rift and played a different game.

Sad moments out here. I feel your pain, it took me several attempts to do that challenge...

For future reference, try either Crotus Prenn offering or Midwich offering. Much easier to fall off heights in chases than Haddonfield and the Killer is especially less likely to D/C with the Crotus Prenn offering!

Maps that count as jumping from great height, as far as I'm concerned.

    MacMillan State

    • Coal Tower (main building only)
    • Ironworks of Misery (main building only)

    Autohaven Wreckers

    • Blood Lodge (main building only)

    Coldwind Farm

    • The Thompson House (main building only)

    Crotus Penn Asylum

    Disturbed Ward (main building only)

Father Campbell's Chapel (main building only)

    Haddonfield

    • Lampkin Lane

    Blackwater Swamp

    • The Pale Rose
    • Grim Pantry

    Lery's Memorial Institute

    • Treatment Theatre (only the jumps from the staircase in the central area)

    Red Forest

    • Mother's Dwelling (main building only)
    • Temple of Purgation (only the jumps from the hidden staircase in the main building and the one where you enter the underground)

    Springwood

    • All iterations (only two story house)*

    Gideon Meat Plant

    • The Game

    Yamaoka State

    • Sanctum of Wrath (main building only)

    Ormond

    • Mount Ormond Resort (main building only)

    Hawkins National Laboratory

    • The Underground Complex

    Grave of Glenvale (currently disabled)

    • Dead Dawg Saloon

    Silent Hill

    • Midwich Elementary School

    Raccoon City

    • Raccoon City Police Department

I just decided to compile this list in case you'd like some help or someone else is having trouble with it and could get some use of it. I share the painful suffering of struggling with it myself and wished I had something like this at the time.

    * In Springwood, there is also the chance that a window spawns in the house that has the basement and that counts as well, but I did not include it on since it's very RNG dependent and I rarely see it myself.

All maps not mentioned don't have anything that counts and jumping from the tall mounds has never counter for me.

    I also hate the challenges.

I wished they would be more "on your way". Like most killer challanges for ex.: Kick 10 generators , Chase Survivors , Carry Survivors

I really really hate any other challenges. "Unhook the guy who unhooked yo" Shup man this is annoying af...

Or: Get 4 hatchets within 15m range. Like.. Idk how many huntress games I played and I also did them pretty well according to my low MMR on her (thank entity). But I'm never in a position of hitting someone THAT far. Maybe far but not that far. Or I'm getting sent to indoor maps.

    I_don't_like_playing_huntress_forever_

I'm a completionist so I would like to finish all challenges but it always ends with me asking the survivors to help me getting this done bc I just can't anymore at some point. After doing the fun-okay ones the unfun challenges are left. And just after a few days I'm so burned out that I literally take a pause for 2 months straight. And then like I said I ask the survivors to help me out.

But yk. If the devs will do anything, they most likely will do more of them.

Falling off hills has worked for me, but I think the variation in height from the difference edges and boulders is right on the line of "high enough" to count. Basically it has to be the highest part of the hill, which isn't easy to gauge.

For reference I got mine all in one game on hills on Yamaoka against Legion.

Yamaoka has hills which can give you the jump you need.
