What is a crutch killer?

What defines one and which killers are “crutch” killers?

    There is no such thing.

Put the "best" killers -- Nurse, Spirit, etc. -- into the hands of someone just learning the killer, or the game in general -- and they'll get stomped by even halfway decent survivors. Put the "weakest" killers -- Legion, Clown, etc. -- into the hands of someone who's been playing the game forever and is really, really good at what they do, and they'll still do well against all but the best SWF teams and survivors.

Agree with the above statement that nothing in the game is crutch. The strongest killers and survivor/killer perks still need a good player behind them to be effective.

As long as survivors are the power role (especially SWF), no killer is crutch.

I don't see how any killer could be seen as crutch. Nurse is the only killer that could be seen as op but she is also the hardest killer to learn and master, so she is definitely not crutch.

Maybe Spirit, but she isn't as easy to play as some people seem to think she is. And she certainly won't be too strong after her nerf either.

A self.. defense weapon? I know sumner would disagree, but I guess the literal blade on it would say otherwise

Crutch killers? None. Several killers have crutch strats aside from the camps and tunnels people resort to out of desperation, but no killer is inherently a crutch - same as I'm moving away from calling certain perks crutches: I'm calling some 'safety nets' or 'training wheels' because that's what they are. Less negative stigma, and a clearer overall message about what they do.

Well crutch defines if you get carried by a ability, weapon or whatsoever in any game without doing something for that.

In dbd there is no such thing as a "crutch" killer cuz basicly every Killer has their own way to be played, if you dont use the ability then you will get no results simple as that.

However there are crutch perks, perks that can give you a advantage without really doing anything for that, cuz that is literally the meaning of a "crutch" in gaming. Therefore we would have for example:

    Noed and Adrenaline

Both these perks can give you a clutch moment without you doing anything to gain it, you just slap the perk in and thats it. If it works then it works if not then not, simple as that.

Survivors do have crutch things. Assume someone gets farmed off hook with no BT in endgame. But they're right next to an exit, so they can crawl out unless you pick them up. You pick them up, and they DS you. Nothing you could have done in that situation. This is just one of countless scenarios in which survivors messed up, but their perks alone got them out of it.

How is NOED a crutch is survivors can cleanse it before or after it's active? A crutch should be any thing you can't counterplay at all, like Adrenaline when you know all the gens get done almost guaranteed most matches.

A crutch has nothing to do with counterplay, its only about something that gives the player some kind of help or advantage without anything doing for it.

Yes but these are objective-based perks, and the survivor objectives are leagues easier than killer's. Survivors have more than enough time to do all the gens and totems, and that's how they get their Adrenaline. Killers can't really stop the gens or totems from being done, so they're dependent on NOED which can be destroyed in the hopes that they actually get to use it. Adrenaline is practically guaranteed these days.

The chance of countering NOED before it activates is slim because their are only 5 totems so there hard to find, yes you can counter NOED but not Adrenaline, but the the point the other guy was making is that you don’t work for NOED nor Adrenaline.

Only one is Myers with a Tombstone addon. You only need stare at a survivor before you can instantly kill them, making them the easiest killer to kill with. But good luck actually catching up with the survivor.

I use Leatherface as a crutch, not going to lie. He just makes a lot of situations that would be difficult to deal with as any other killer a lot easier.

Post rework, he is really strong as a dedicated camper. Otherwise, he's really, really map dependent.
