Do you think DBD will lose players?

Not at all. There might be some playing both but they really don’t capture what DbD makes so special.

    Of course.

From what I can tell VHS is PC only for now. If they release on all platforms maybe...Doubt it tho.

    No.

People thought other dbd-esque clones would provide competition but in the end, they never really capture the essence of what makes dbd special.

I am looking forward to VHS, but i would rather DBD were better. It is unlikely anything will come to be meaningful competition to dbd

VHS looks promising assuming you can't just gang bang the killer. Propnight looks meh...

    Never even heard of Propnight.

VHS has potential, but PC only? Eh.

I think they will take away from Dead by Daylight's playerbase... For one week.

Depends what the players want out of a game like VHS. The game is focused on teens having to confront the monster, not slam gens and leave. There's bound to be a good portion of DBD's player base that would enjoy a game can't be won by gen rushing or tunneling/face camping.

If people think playing Killer in DBD is frustrating, where all the Survivors can do is flee from you, they're going to have a much worse time in a game where the Survivors are actively encouraged to relentlessly gang up on you.

That's exactly what happened in F13 and Last Year, to endless complaints.

Yes, but it also seems like killers have better potential in that game relatively speaking. It all depends on the balance and interactions.

I've never heard of Propnight so I can't speak for that one, but I have seen footage of VHS and I don't think that game is going to have any impact on DBD's playerbase because it seems like a pretty significantly different game.

In order to be effective competition (which btw it's wildly overblown how important that is) I'm of the opinion that a game should play similarly to DBD, which VHS only barely seems to. Seems like the "survivor" experience is vastly different and the "killer" experience is only kinda similar.

Propnight looks funny as hell lol. You can turn into anything on the map, jumping around as a corn or cabbage is hilarious.

Also you can even fart if I am not mistaken. Lmao.

Vhs has potential but i dont think itll take anything away from dbd i do hope however it gives behavior some ideas to incorporate into either dbd or dbd 2 if that ever happens in the future with of course ray tracing so the lighting feels extra creepy.

Vhs has a good chance of succeeding dbd but that depend on how the game goes and how to dev treat the game and their playerbase to do so.

I do think some people will lose interest in dbd if bhvr doesn't fix the problems dbd has.

i am very hopeful with vhs and i don't dbd has anything special other then licenses and being very lucky.

Prop Night looked really interesting, until I saw the survivors just turn into crates and vegetables and then bounce around. What on earth were they thinking?

VHS is just another "kill the killer" game. At least when I lose as killer at DBD, I usually have some mini-win conditions I can take heart from. I think a few hard defeats on that game will be enough to draw people back to DBD.

Possibly. Ive seen barely anything, but they definitely have potential too. But even though we are on the forums curse the devs name will we really abandon the game 😞

    some of us would yes...

  • No.

VHS has potential. People complain about the Teens being able to gang up on the Monster, but they have to build up to do that. It's not something they can always do. Imagine having to do a 40 second gen just to drop a pallet. That's not "ganging up". It's a different gamestyle with its own merits. That said, I'll take it over camping and tunneling. We'll see how well it does.

Propnight probably not since it lacks any depth from progression, its good for a bit of lighthearted fun but its aimless which really draws away from replayability value but its an interesting concept, it has the same problem of early dbd where there is nothing to protect survivors at hooks so you can ignore the saving survivor instantly down the saved survivor and get another hook (I know they aren't called hooks im just putting them into dbd lingo for a sense of the people who don't know)

Vhs seemingly could provide decent competition to dbd since its just a player vs monster game where the pacing is set by the players and their interactions with each other with plenty of depth from progression systems, ingame voice chat, ping system, system that tells you where people are (but not auras) with labeled areas of the map of quick call outs, it already has more quality of life than current dbd since they are less serious on realism, and has interesting gameplay for people who prefer the interaction between players more than the m1 on generators with no interaction since the only way for either side to win is interaction

Everyone was like, Home Sweet Home: Survive is gonna be a good competitor for DBD. I didn't heard about it for months. Last time I checked Twitch, no one was watching it.

I've heard of Propnight earlier today. I watched a stream of the beta. It's probably only my opinion, but it looked far from being fun. The graphics were fine, I don't mind a cartoonish style. The gameplay was questionnable to me. Seeing players turning into object to jump around like gravity doesn't exist... It got me out of it.

VHS sounds fine, the graphics looks fine. But I don't think it's enough to draw a whole player base. Maybe some people will leave DBD for it, like players leave games from time to time because it's how it works. A playerbase moves: you have people who leave, people who start playing for a short time, people who come in for a long time...

DBD will lose players as other games lose players, but will earn new players as well.

I don't think any of these games will outright kill DbD. That's like saying Siege would kill CSGO. Instead, they will compete and give an alternative with a different set of pros and cons. I figure VHS will basically be like that. The Siege to DbDs CSGO status in the genre.

VHS is F13 Game 2: Electric Boogaloo, and anyone with half a brain will probably already have seen the writing on the wall.

Propnight is so badly designed, DbD looks the most finely balanced game ever, in comparison.

Both of them are just bandwagoning pisstakes, and will meet the same fate as all the other DbD clones: catatonic on arrival, and then dead and forgotten in a couple days.

I feel DBD has a strong enough base that no single game in its ballpark will be capable of doing so. However, neither would they actually be focused on that. They'd rather focus on how their game will evolve.

VHS seems to have a team who genuinely are passionate and they've come up with some interesting ideas. I'm not a fan of the art design, but that's purely my taste. It's very much a game which also focuses on the 80s nostalgia, so when trends change into a 90s nostalgia or some other flavour, they will have to adapt moreso than DBD. But it has the chance to make its own niche.

Propnight feels it's just focused on playing tribute to 2 games. I doubt it will have longevity, but at the same time may have some initial interest. Doesn't look as fun as either the 2 games it wants to emulate.
