PC vs Console Survivors
Just a bit of a mini-rant, slash sorta question.
What is the deal with console players? Like I switched back to cross play today, no reason, and I quickly was reminded WHY I turned it off in the first place.
In the past 10+ games I've played, the console players were the most selfish survivors I've ever played with in waking memory.
I just got out of a match with a Pig, I did 3 gens, looped, unhooked 2 and healed 1, and as the last gen was being done I was looping the killer, and I finally go down and get hooked--almost right next to a door. So I'm like oh this is perfect, I got breakdown so if I get saved, I can wiggle free NP, I just gotta wait for someone to come save me. ALL THREE of them are full health, ez pz.
Oh, they opened up the other gate across the map? Oh, well no biggie. I'm sure NOW they'll come to save me. Pig is nowhere nearby, and even if they are theres tons of coverage for at least 2 to come get me and we can all get out safely...
They all leave. Like I literally put my freaking SOUL out in the game doing over half the gens and saving 2 of their sorry butts, and they dont even TRY TO COME SAVE ME. All 3 of them just crouching in the gate, sitting there, as I go into 2nd phase... and then run out like little.... you-know-whats.
Not to mention before this I had a Jake last game, Console, who hid in a locker the entire time I ran killer for 2min. Literally 2 min. We had ONE gen left. Homeboy was in a locker. He'd occassionally get out to touch a gen so he wouldn't get crow'd, then go back in. (I could see him cross map because I had Jeff's Aftercare on). So the second I got hooked, dude just jumped into hatch.
Before that, had a Leon, console, who was fortunate enough to not get hooked all game. It's end game, right? We got a door at 99%. There's literally 3 of us slugged, I got Unbreakable I just need the killer to get a LITTLE bit away from me so I can get up and pick up the other 2 survivors. What does Leon do? He's across the map. Full health. Doing god knows what. Like heaven forbid he face killer and run him away from us. I was also running Deliverance, so even if I got hooked I could get off and save the other 2 and we all get out. Like we needed just TEN SECONDS of breath and we literally ALL could of gotten out. Nope. Thats not how console players do it apparently.
So if you, reading this, are a console player--I'm sure you're a lovely person, but on the whole, 0/10 I would rather have 20min queues than play with console players ever again.

Low MMR experience be like

You see, I'd think that--except for the fact that IMMEDIATELY after switching back to PC, literally every survivor is healing each other, doing saves, and when it was down to just me and 1 other survivor a Cheryl, I'm hooked on 2nd phase, the other survivor saves me, we still got 2 gens left, she shows me she has a key. Huntress finds us and chases her, and she gets hooked and is on her final hook, dies, and I managed to get her key. Huntress closes hatch, but since I had key, I got out and escaped.
A console player? Deadass woulda just waited for me to die and then ran outta hatch. 100% Wouldn't even think about saving me.

The Leon did the right thing, if I were him I would have left too. There is just no way I'm risking it for the sake of 3 intellectuals that somehow managed to get slugged at end game.

We didn't get slugged doing a conga line you dingaling. Our Jake was slugged for nearly an entire bleed out while I ran killer. The Jane got knocked when she crossed paths with me and the killer's chase. Finally I got slugged as I was opening door. The Leon was an absolutely useless survivor who did all of 1 gen and didn't do anything more than th at.

So the 3 of you were basically recreating the swat raid meme.

At least the title sounds about right.

This again?

Thank you for the us vs them post.

I play both. This is me literally noting that PC players play way more altruistically than console survivors. Why, no idea, but its dramatic enough to where I'm really glad we can switch off cross play. If it was an us/them thing I'd of just titled the post "why do console players ____"

Oh so this is normal? Because I'm only at 250hrs in this game

I'm a console player (mostly Solo survivor) and I've had crap experiences with PC SWF's/players.
Like being in a game with a 3-man SWF of matching Feng Mins. I just play like usual, do my best. I'm a team player, and never let people go to struggle if it can be helped. Always try for the endgame save etc.
I unhooked them all at least once. When I was being tunneled (Wraith), I managed to slip away, and not a single one of them would heal me. They acted like I didn't exist. It wasn't because a gen was almost done or anything, just flat out ignored. See, they had a key i didn't know about and were planning to leave me behind the whole time. Which they did.
Then they sent me messages telling me "UR BAD LOLZ".
In fact, when I was brand new to DBD I learned to turn off my messages at times because PC players would message me after a match when I was still learning and insult me for "being a console player haarrrr u all suck". And asked why am I such a "poor loser" that I can't get a gaming PC?
Moral of the story is that there are crummy people regardless of what platform they play on. It's not exclusive to any one in particular.

You're probably having better teammates when you turn cross-play off because a lot of competitive players queue with cross-play off on PC. When I say "competitive players" I mean players who play in DBD tournaments. So cross-play off is not always used to avoid console players for many players but to simply play with/against other "comp" players. So you probably play against really good killers too.

No.
For the sake of everything that is good, consider putting your concerns on SBMM, rather than something so small, like others’ platform.
Ever since the developers implemented SBMM and explained its function, almost everyone has been playing selfishly to get high MMR.

It's literally titled "PC vs Console Survivors"
That's an us vs them post BY DEFINITION

I play on console... and I play as altruistic as possible... which gets me killed
But I'm am also the fist one to die... through no fault but my own

I honestly think its an age thing not that there arnt adults on console and vice versa but console typically has a younger age and while some kids might be helpful they usually just want to win in their mind.

I play very altruistically as well. I always equip BT. If I have a syringe I save if possible to pick up slugs during endgame collapse shenanigans. I really try hard to get everyone out.
I don't think players on console are more selfish. Even if it were true to a degree of tendency, it might just be a matter of a younger player base maybe. If I'm playing on my day off, I notice a stark difference between playing in the morning, and after 3-4pm when school lets out. Or Fridays after 10pm with a full moon, stuff starts getting cray cray with trolls lol.

This. Your fellow PC players do this to me all the time. Especially the 3 man SWF. Don’t even get me started on the sub par PC players that the MMR throws me in to carry against a decent killer for “balance.” I’m not even trying to be funny. Very serious. Some matches actually have me saying “PC master race my ass,” out loud. And then there is the cheating/hacking problem when you’re in upper mid to low high MMR.

i doint really care about someones skill level, i dont think console/pc makes a difference in how good you play. i just noticed the actual play style tends to be WAY different in terms of teamwork playstyle or solo survivor playstyle.
0 -
how so? because i literally play BOTH. i play BOTH console and PC. if you see it as us/them then you must be someone who only plays THIS OR THAT. because i play both im legit sitting here asking WHY are console players playing like this, and WHY are PC players playing like this. im part of both communities.

Why are you being selfish when you turn your console on and play dbd?
Maybe you get possessed by a demon?
0 -
again, still pretty new. idk what SBMM is. and i wasn't sure where else to put this because its a general discussion. there wasnt'e really anything that matched the topic of playstyle based off of gaming platform.

I dont. I play the same way I always do--I aim to get my whole team out. If all 4 survivors dont make it out, I feel like its a loss. Thats how I like to play, and I noticed when I'm playing with console vs playing with PC--its "you on your own" in console world, and I don't get why.
0 -
no idea what that is. i dont do a lot of memes
0 -
I am usually altruistic myself and go out of my way to save people. Yet I play on console which must be a paradox to you.
0 -
It all depends on the player not the platform
but like I said before I'm usually the first to die
1 -
ohhhhh okay so that at least explains this a little bit. i cant say i care about my rank as a survivor because im pretty dog at chases and stuff but i really just wanna make sure everyone makes it out, thats a W for me--and if its a really easy save its like "why not?" that last game with 3 healthy survivors and NO ONE came to help--like legit made no sense to me.

yeah i noticed a lot of weird cheats lately, usually killers just running some sort of movement/attack spam thing. but i really dont think playform makes for a difference in skill. my friends on console and pc are all pretty good, better than me at least. these games today were all solo matches for me and i turned cross play back on, idk why, and just had consistent results of non-altruism plays to the point where it was starting to make me not wanna help my fellow teammates anymore, which isnt how i like to play
1 -
i had some like that today. had one today where i swear i basically spawned WITH huntress and i was like "welp. hi." and i got to 2nd phase before anyone came to get me, needless to say i didnt make it out alive.
0 -
you know i play both console and pc right? and me noticing that console players play WAY less altruistic on avg isn't a bias, its me literally noticing playstyles between platforms. and as mentioned, 0/10 id rather play this game with pc players.

From what I understand: SBMM is Skill Based Matchmaking. The more you escape, the better teammates and Killers you’ll get.
The more you die, your chances of getting bad teammates and bad Killers increases. This is also dependent on the order that you die, (if you’re first, second, third, or last to die).
People who play competitively in this game, are more than likely going to play selfishly to ensure their own means survival. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it just gets tiring after a while.

Tldr:
"I think console players are terrible because I generalize them based on my own personal experiences."
