Huge Pig Nerf with 5.3 patch
So, the iri add on video tap remove all her 4 traps and put them on survivors head. The problem with that is that most of the time survivors can remove them very quickly, it is very hard to even have 1 traps activated. So this is very bad and she cant even put more traps... This is terrible. Why not keeping her 4 traps. This is not iri add on
They nerfed tampered timer and they nerfed the box search...
I am so disapointed she will be now a z tier killer

Tampered Timer needed a nerf, without a doubt, but I still think the Iri Video Tape shouldn't deplete your traps.

This isn't a nerf. It supports a different playstyle. It uses all your traps for delay at the beginning when you need it most but it does make head pops very unlikely. To be honest, all Iri Addons should be playstyle shifts instead of massive buffs.

Its just a different kind of corrupt intervention basically. You basically just have to decide if you want your slowdown all at once at the start, or intermittently throughout the match.
13 -
That would be way too strong. Maybe it can have an extra effect but Pig having 8 bear traps with no downsides or conditions for the first 4 would be too much.
5 -
Just use it with Rules Set No. 2.
1 -
As someone who played Pig with all her possible variants, this is completly a nerf at her highest potential, pretending otherwise is being dishonest. They nerfed her best build without buffing her base kit.
10 -
I have to question your definition of the word huge.
2 -
Easy solution: don't run those add-ons. Nerf removed
8 -
Pig gets nerfed every update. Wdym?
8 -
Her best build was stupid. Tampered Timer + Crate of Gears + Large Map = Dead Survivor if they're unlucky with their boxes. That feels cheesy for the Survivors and honestly I've never felt that Head Pops were all that interesting or fun for the Killer. However what they have done is massively increased how much you can buff her Crouch and Dash through add ons, which is pretty fantastic since that's the part of Pig's power you're actively using.
Also, I don't see why they would have buffed her base kit if they didn't nerf it?
4 -
I hope you realize using this with another addon will start the match with 4 Traps on their heads and the inability to see Jigsaw boxes.
2 -
8 or 9 traps is not okay. That's extremely not fun.
5 -
I don't care how cheesy or unfair you feel it was, you admit it was her best build and it was nerfed, so they nerfed Pig. If you can't admit it you are just being disingenuous.
3 -
Anyone who says this isn't a nerf doesn't play Pig to a significant degree, and anyone saying "it's like a Pig-exclusive Corrupt" has no idea how survivors or RBTs behave. A trap is around 15 seconds (divided among 4 survivors) of guaranteed slowdown, and often not significantly more. That's one reason you want to spread them out as the game progresses - multiple survivors not on gens is nice, multiple survivors working on removing that slowdown at the same time is not as nice.

Maybe 1-2 extra traps but we'll see how it goes.
1 -
What if Pig brings one of the addons that gives her a extra trap? She had two, maybe three, get this extra trap feature.

No this is not a corrupt. Even with set rule 2, they can easily find the box, while you chase one survivor they remove all traps. The game is slowed for like 30 seconds and you lost all possibility.of activation a trap.
8 traps would be just fine and a real iri add on
4 -
Unless you're a god tier chaser who slaughters most teams before half the gens are done, you pretty much never want all of your slowdown to happen at the very beginning of the match. If your slowdown is evenly split out through the entire match, you never truly lose pressure.
2 -
Honestly they should bring back her traps activating when EGC begins.
3 -
Seeing as running 2 purple add ons every game isn't really possible... Pig'll be just fine. Did her most powerful and broken setup get nerfed? Yep. Did it need it? Also Yep. Did they buff a whole lot of other stuff Pig has going on in her add ons? Looks like it. Do I think Pig will be overall better with these changes? Also Yep.
If you can't see that the Survivor dying after only 1 down and some bad RNG rolls is not OK, then I don't know what to tell you.
3 -
Bruh, you're supposed to crouch afk bodyblock one of the boxes and hope that RNG jesus will grant you 2+ head pops.
It's hilarious actually, devs really didn't think this one through. I'll have my fun while I can with this.

I haven't given an opinion on wether it was good or bad, i just stated a fact that they nerfed it and it was the best she had, therefore they nerfed Pig. I don't know why is this so hard to understand. Wether you liked or not those addons doesn't matter, it is still a nerf.

Yes but also no

Is there a hope they keep her 4 traps with the iri add on or they dont like this killer?

"Even with set rule 2, they can easily find the box"
Maybe after the timer starts, but not before that.

I just had a game where 2 traps where removed in about 40 seconds..jigsaw box are easy to find.
Whsts the point of a iri add on.that make you just loose all of your power. Its better to.put traps one by one when you.know a gen will pop
0 -
No this is easy to remove. Survivor starts with jigsaw box on their side and it is not hard to find. Just had a match where 2 traps where removed in 40 seconds..
Even if a gen pop the other must have a least searched for 2 or 3 box so they will find the key.
Its better to set traps one by one when a gen is about to pop
0 -
Again, not before the timer starts. That's why the correct move against RSN2 is to just do gens until the timer starts.

You clearly dont play pig. Use video tape and set rule 2. You will see when you find a survivor, 2 traps will be already removed.

"15 seconds" is a gross underestimate. It takes a minimum of 12 seconds for a survivor to use a single box, and it will take them a minimum of 3-8 seconds to find a first box at the start of the match, so absolute worst case a survivor will spend a bare minimum of around 15-20 seconds getting off their trap at the start of the match assuming they succeed on the first attempt. Of course the chances of success are only 1 in 4, so in reality the average time wasted getting the trap off per survivor is about 43 seconds per survivor (ie. 2.5 * 17.5 each).
I don't have an opinion on whether 43 second slowdown per survivor at the start of the match is good or bad, but either way it's definitely more than "15 seconds".

Clearly you dont plsy pig. I dont say that in a mean way.
But play 1 or 2 match with video tape and set rule and you will see that 2 traps will be remove in about 30 seconds to 50 seconds and no.traps will be activated before a gen is done
0 -
15 seconds of guaranteed slowdown is what's supported by your own maths, per RBT. Anything else, including the RNG of second, third, or forth boxes, is not 'guaranteed' - unreliable numbers for an inconsistent power.
0 -
The video tape takes all your traps and just puts them on the survivors heads. That is quite the nerf. It would make more sense to have them start with a trap on and you still have the four.
1 -
They nerfed her good add ons... So, yes, she was nerfed.
2 -
"Guaranteed" isn't as relevant as "average". You're talking about four different survivors, it's extremely unlikely that literally all four of them will find a different box within 2-3 seconds of the game starting and all use them for 12 seconds to remove their trap on the first try. It's even extremely unlikely that all four would do gens for a bit and each, when they chose, get off their gen, go to a box in 2-3 seconds, and use that box for 12 seconds to remove their trap on the first try.
12 seconds per player is a woefully unrealistic underestimate of how much time the perk actually forces survivors to spend removing the traps.

Ok so firstly, that post was in direct response to what the new Iri video tape does. Honestly, that add on looks intriguing at the very least.
Secondly, Pig was only nerfed if you consistently ran Tampered Timer + Crate of Gears. If you did literally anything else with your add-ons besides going for head pops... she wasn't nerfed and you have a bunch of new options to work with. I don't know how strong or not those new options are because I haven't had a chance to try them, but saying Pig was nerfed overall is premature.
0 -
'Guaranteed' is all you're absolutely going to get, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. The average will be affected by a number of factors, up to and including the known disrespect toward RBTs as a threat by a large proportion of the playerbase. In real play, sure, there's the potential for even up to a few minutes worth of slowdown: but at no point is the Pig in true control of that.
Unreliable slowdown is just that - unreliable. Plenty of ifs, whens, mights, coulds, but nothing is guaranteed except that 15 second window - and 'considerably' good slowdown isn't good enough lingo these days. Whether you want to engage honestly with the reality of that is on you.
0 -
I do not entirely disagree that it might be a bit premature. But at the same time, it is relatively obvious none of the new stuff is nearly as effective. They might still be her best add ons, actually, unless you want to do the Plaything trick.
Whatever, they can nerf her again if this didn't work.
0 -
"Guaranteed" on all four survivors is irrelevant when the odds of that happening are insignificantly small. Even assuming all four survivors start right next to a box, which by itself isn't likely, and assuming all four are uninterrupted for 12 seconds while opening that first box, which again isn't likely, the odds of all four getting their trap off on that first try is only 1 in 256.
Assuming that you're only getting the bare theoretical minimum amount is folly. You're not. Whether you accept the math or not is up to you, it doesn't change the numbers.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm just optimistic about it because I never went for head pops so Tampered Timer's nerf doesn't matter to me. Meanwhile, the new version of John's Medical File might make a stealthier Pig work better. Same with Last Will + Workshop Grease potentially enabling a more Chase oriented Pig to be more lethal. Or... if you just want all the slowdown, the max number of Traps you can bring has been increased to 6 which is pretty nifty and has some extra effects on top of that. Then there's some other extra shenanigans of Ruleset No 2 + Sketch which encourages Survivors with traps to do gens but then gives you aura reading on them. Or new Video Tape which is a bit like having Corrupt Intervention as an Add on. Video Tape + Slow Release Toxin + Lethal Pursuer could be really good.
I guess what I'm saying is that Pig has more options now and I'm interested to see how they play out.
1 -
It should remove 2-3 traps at least, having a match with the pig having 9 max traps even if 4 are used right at the start seems like a bit much
0 -
It is not, trap are removed very quickly and it barely slow down the game
0 -
I play almost only Pig.
1 -
That's a lot of numbers to say you didn't read what I'm saying and prefer your narrative to good faith argumentation.
0 -
Rethinking it, I sort of agree. Maybe 1 trap base-line with that add-on, sort of like Amanda's Letter.
0 -
Even if they are fast to go on the early traps 8 (or 9 with addons) total traps is overly oppressive especially since they are in effect at the start of the game without requiring anything of the player just because they equipped an addon
0 -
Agree with this.
0 -
she can have 6 traps, why not 8 ? Iri add on are supposed to be strong no?
0 -
Did people forget the survivor team is in complete control of when a trap activates? It's not that hard to 99 a gen for a bit to give a teammate time to at least search one box.
But I guess its easier to demand another nerf. Poor pig mains. I barely saw them in matches already :c
1 -
I did read what you said, I'm just backing up my argument with actual numbers. It's ironic you're saying I'm arguing in bad faith when you're not actually presenting evidence to the contrary.
