This Is Becoming Exhausting
Beating a dead horse on this one, I know (sorry Maurice).
I've been getting constant not-so-nice messages for weeks now. Considering MMR matches me up with these same Survivors every day, it's been getting exhausting.
I'm in a good spot mentally-speaking, but I am terrified for the people who aren't because I remember when I wasn't. A message like the one's I've been getting for weeks now easily could've triggered a downward spiral and I desperately don't want that to happen to anyone.
Either way, messages like these are all too common and they've really been weighing me down lately.
I'd just like a "you played well" every once in a while. This ######### is pretty much routine at this point. Play a match, get some variation of the above. I'm just tired of it.

Yeah, there are some toxic players out there, nothing new.
But it is first time I see "unalive yourself" and it seems quite funny to me, but I have ######### up sense of humor...
I usually have none, or good experience as PC killer, but that's because of way I usually play, of course I get toxic SWF time to time.

They say that to skirt around Xbox's ban system.
I'll gladly take the abuse if it means someone else doesn't have to, but Jesus Christ it's getting old.

If you tunnel I have no sympathy for you.. simply put those types of strategies are considered underhanded and can cause frustration and bring us down. It can cause us to loose interest in the game and take away the little fun we have. What they are doing is basically what you did in the match. You put them in a bad place mentally so why should they not do the same to you. Honestly only killers who are not very good at the game do I see camping and tunneling. But if you are doing that then you deserve everything you dished out here. I rarely ever camp a survivor I main pig and if I see someone being really toxic to me I will camp them but not often. Also this seems like if they seen it. It might mentally mess with them. I find it irritating that you think others should look out for your mental state but you don't seem to care about others.

What if I told you I didn't tunnel, they just think I did?
They were just upset that they lost of Fractured Cowshed. One got grabbed out of a locker early and they never really recovered from that.

Why not make messages friends only when playing dbd?
Unless you really like that ocassional gg I don't see the reason to keep it open.
I either bait people like that and make them banned (the one from your screenshot would be permabanned on psn if you reported her messages individually) or just straight disable messages altogether.

Oh trust me that stuff doesn't get around the xbox communication ban had a case where I was banned for a day for saying your favorite food must be white bread because your insults have no substance in a text message

I honestly don't know what happened, but I know what it's like to get bogged down with these kind of players sometimes. I used to accept invites and try to talk with them myself a couple years back. I learned that a lot of people are just really ignorant, and do my best to prevent talking to anyone in-game anymore. Even then, I can still get dragged into it on occasion.
Sympathies.
Judging from his reaction though, I'm sure you did play well. Gj

Just hit the report message a couple of times followed by elaborating on what they meant in the can you explain further box and if you see the message deleted from your xbox inbox you know that the report worked and that they got communication banned

The issue with that is that I don't play just DBD.
If I disable messages/voice for everyone except my friends, I can't chat in-game or with half the people I play with. It's a massive inconvenience but I might have to at this point.
I used to meet a lot of really great people on DBD and maybe I'm stuck in the past with that.

If you weren't tunneling or camping then I don't see the need to worry. Maybe you feel bad that they think you were doing those things? But either way you shouldn't care what others will think of you. I say close your messages so only friends can message you block those that have wronged you and report if it gets gross or dangerous. I hate tunnel/camping, but since mmr Im quite content with it because I know killers will get 'penalty' from it. Though its amazing that someone spent massive time just to insult a stranger over a single match. And call them low life.
For human's behavior, everyone wants to "dominate" at some thing, some where. So its certainly easy to understand many wants to "dominate" over a game because they cant in any aspect of their real life. I was there, never again.

In a perfect world we wouldn’t have to deal with messages like that.
There are too many other interactions you are missing out on because you give energy to these people. I know sometimes it’s hard to just look the other way because you wanna get to the bottom of something or whatever the reason may be.
However, You have to stay focused on who YOU are and what kind of person you are. These people do not determine that, only you and your actions do.
Trust me I’ve had my fair share of encounters , some that were embarrassing and I can’t believe I let them get to me, and others where I just simply tried to be as rational as I could and even that didn’t help.
Nothing justifies their behavior, and to me many of these people are just looking for an audience. So anytime you engage just remind yourself you are giving them exactly what they want.
I know you’re on a different platform, from what I have gathered and it sucks that they do this when all you wanna do is enjoy the game, but my advice is to just ignore them to the best of your ability.

This is getting ridiculous and extremely frustrating!!! We have been trying all night. For about 6 hours to play a game. Almost every match we get in the killer either leaves or will ready up just to dc. Why????

Freaking amazes me how most of these comments place the blame on OP for getting harrased. "You have the option to turn off messages." Shouldn't have to! Full stop, end of story.

But it's so frequent now. It's legitimately every other game and it really does start to weigh on you.

I think it's the principle of it.
Nobody should be harassed over a game, much less in such a terrible way.
I guess I'm just in denial that the community has gone so far downhill since I started playing. I never used to get hatemail, maybe once in every 20 games. Infrequent, but still unpleasant.
Now, it's legitimately every other game and I guess I'm just hoping that it'll return to how it used to be. I suppose I need to stop that and take steps to protect myself, but it really scares me that these people are still out there likely doing this to other people too.

I don't know. I always got nasty messages since I started playing games online decade ago.
I am not saying it is fine (I dislike toxicness with a passion) but we can only do so much.
You either get them banned or turn off the messages. Or you stoop to their level and let them annoy you. Or I dunno.
I just adapted to it I guess. What else am I supposed to do? Find their address and mori them?

Well one of my suggestions was to turn off messages so it could have been meant for me.
I don't see how wanting someone to experience less pain is lack of empathy. It makes zero sense.
I am not blaming the victim by giving them a realistic suggestion that could prevent bullies to harass them.
But ok if you didn't meant me I will take your word for it.

This is horrible and I hope that these people will get banned for good. Those messages are clearly something more than just the usual flaming post match or the "lol noob baby killer using NoeD" and other funny things.
Some tolerance to "bad messages" is required to play PvP games as is a tolerance to taunting and "bad manner" as those are way to get your opponent to loose his nerves. But this is nothing like that especialy as it is post game where everybody should be a good sport and either write "gg wp" or just leave.

Truly a scumbag. Sorry you had to deal with that. Had a fellow survivor tell me to kill myself because I "wasted" a pallet recently. I don't mind some game related trash talk but saying "#########" or anything similar is an instant report from me

Like people need to be careful about using issues with serious historical and systemic contexts as allegories for comparatively minor issues such as internet toxicity because it detracts from the gravity of something as serious and deeply rooted in society as sexual assault

I agree that people need to be careful.
However, I still think it fits, even if the original comment was tone deaf. What if they hadn't of said this to me? What if these people had said it to someone who wasn't in a good place mentally? What if they pushed them over the edge?
Saying that it's the victim's fault for having harassment and abuse thrown at them is pretty awful.

Surprisingly I’ve found dbd to be pretty tame compared to other games. Picked up for honour again recently and the salt is 10x more than dbd’s

Why is it that every DBD players background is either Overwatch, For Honor or Dark Souls? Do we desire pain and suffering or what?
