100.416 peak players the boycott failed, DBD still rules!

Ok, you want a pat from BHVR or something?
1 -
Also the game is literally on a free trial right now... numbers until the 25th aren't reliable.
10 -
There was no boycott, nor do you have evidence to the contrary. This is all conjecture with no facts.
And it certainly hasn't helped the Steam score of the Hellraiser chapter which, as it sits right now is "Mostly Negative". The Hour of the Witch is "Mixed".
Hurting their score is going to hurt far worse than their player count. Those players are costing BHVR money to play. If they're not buying, BHVR is losing money.
Your point is moot at best.

Isn't the game free on Steam right now?
Pretty sure that's going to boost the numbers...a lot.

I may have mentioned WANTING to boycott, along with mentioning how I've deleted the game and such. But me wanting to boycott and actually boycotting are very different. OP doesn't seem to realise that however.
10 -
I would wager that is because:
-New Survivor
-New Tome
-Halloween Event.
I'm enjoying it too...but the infinite loading screens are HIGHLY annoying.

Last time I checked, there wasn't a real boycott except for something, like one user posted. Many just had it with the company, and by extension, the game. Victory, in this case, is just walking away.
Also, these numbers mean nothing. DBD's playerbase always surges during patches, and this is one of the bigger ones. There's also only 2 real sources of information for why people are ticked. Twitter, and the forums, so this isn't exactly a popularity context of whether BHVR is right or not. As for me, I haven't been consistently playing before the controversy, and am not exactly feeling like coming back.

Also, the game is free on Steam until the 25th
13 -
There wasn't a boycott though. Just a lot of upset fans. I feel like you view criticisms of DBD as some kind of personal attack, which is deeply concerning since this game should not be a focal point of anybodies personality.
12 -
I hope the devs see from this that everyone wants monthly events, 2 events a year is just not enough. The game gets very stale without content updates
1 -
Clearly, saying you want something is a clear indication that you're trying to bring down the game. No no, not allowed to be upset with how the game is being run. You're just a dirty hater then.
10 -
gotta hate on the people who are worried for the future of one of their favourite games. Clearly they're only out to tarnish the good peoples work at BHVR
15 -
not to mention that the game is going to be free for a limited time(not sure if already started), so, seeiong the numbers increase, shouldn't be a surprise.
5 -
Those saints? How dare they! The devs only want whats best for us and always make the best decisions when it comes to balancing, community outreach and marketing. If you disagree at all, you should be banned and blocked on every form of social media for being a toxic anti!
8 -
I can tell you now, I never intended to boycott the game. I stop playing for a few days, but I decided I'll continue playing and just not buy anything for the foreseeable future.
2 -
It's free for 3 days.

Somehow people always find a way to defend disgusting business practices like their life depends on it. Also how can you look at the player count just now when the game literally just went free to play so of course there are tons of new people trying the game but that just temporary boost.
12 -
How people can act all hunky-dory about Behavior right now is beyond me.
16 -
ignorance is bliss
10 -
I’m not surprised tbh. The event and mid chapter helped contribute to this
0 -
It's free to play atm lol
8 -
The deliberate dishonesty of this take won't make senpai notice you, OP
10 -
I would wait until after the event, free trial and hype from the Tome and Mikaela have passed to start celebrating. It's possible that a lot of those people will leave after everything is over.
12 -
Why on Earth would they make the game free to play now? The game has never been in such poor health.
I know, Halloween and all. But still, not exactly the best first look for future new players, wouldn't it?
2 -
you do realize that only a small minority of the player base is actually on the forums.. right?
0 -
I’m supporting DBD too and I’m glad the 10 players from this forum that quit are spreading negativity towards a different game now.
1 -
"Behaviour can do no wrong!" Come on man.
3 -
Not everybody said they were trying to change DBD's numbers, just the company's actions and choices. I don't think anyone wants the game to hurt.
However, If no one had voiced their concerns and they didn't think it was at the very least "heard", BHVR wouldn't have posted about it on their twitter, and no changes would ever happen.
4 -
A horror game doing well at Halloween, who would have possibly foresaw this happening?
Good for the game to get players but just be responsible with your money.
4 -
Too bad we cannot see console numbers. I personally would like to see the patterns following various patches and chapters, like when RE came out, and the last few days.
1 -
People can play the game and still boycott. You do realize that player activity doesn't correlate to revenue being generated from the latest chapter right?
6 -
whos this .414 percent of a person?
2 -
Isn't it literally free to play right now? With an event?
5 -
Oh man I really hope this post is satire
4 -
Yeah, it's great because it further hammers home that caring about people who have played this game for years and people at the levels where balance matters simply don't matter. You could do everything wrong and your casual and new playerbase don't care.
1 -
Does it have anything to do with the fact that free play is taking place?
1 -
There was a boycott?
3 -
I'm not so sure why you are so excited.. either you keep playing the game or you don't. Just because you think the game is the best game ever, doesn't mean that others do not like it. And just because there is a huge peak for the YEARS BIGGEST EVENT, doesn't mean people aren't leaving the game. seems like a lot of cope tbh.
7 -
I remember all those apologists for world of warcraft. now look where it is
9 -
I feel genuinely sorry for OP.
Thinking BHVR or any company for that matter would care enough to hear these words they're spouting.
I'm sorry you've become such a consumer who only consumes, I can only hope you'll understand better one day.
14 -
The boycott is about not buying pinhead. Try again!
9 -
Only in the OP's imagination.
11 -
Imagine supporting a game who uses us and releases constant game breaking bugs every patch
7 -
Well I don't love BHVR, but I do love DBD. Couldn't care less about what they do as a company as long as the game stays alive.
1 -
The game is free right now and there's an event LMAO nice try
4 -
Boots for dinner again, eh?
2 -
Between the BP codes, the tweet about NFTs and the free weekend, I think there might be some damage control going on.
4 -
Plus they're still down about 20k players since July so something is going poorly lol
2 -
A boycot was never the right call anyway.
Trying to screw people's job just because their boss has choose to work with planet destroying companies isn't really right.
Mc. Lean, a developer that recently left made it pretty clear that most employees did not know about this.
So if we were going to boycot bhvr a lot more innocent people were getting punished then guilty ones.
The ones who made that deal would live comfortable lives if dbd would die the next day with how much they already made.
The employees not so much. But people didn't think of that.
In the end we are all monsters.
