100.416 peak players the boycott failed, DBD still rules!
I am so glad that all the negativity of the very small vocal minority did not hurt the game.
Dbd is close to an all time peak, thank you BHVR for many years of fun, the VAST MAJORITY still loves you <3

Ngl, fully expected this.

so happy :)

Can't say I'm surprised lol the average player probably don't know about NFTs or don't really care.
44 -
Well 8-10 on this forum were talking like dbd was doomed and bhvr had a real pr nightmare, 2 days after dbd is closed to its all time peak
5 -
U miss the part where they lost almost 7K players on average, so this peak is most likely is for few days and then everyone will leave.
41 -
There wasnt a boycott of the game from what I was aware of...?
People are being a bit more cautious with their spending but if there was supposed to be a boycott this is the first i'm hearing of it... Can you state your source?
(And btw the last boycott, which was like 4 months ago, was just related to purchases and not stopping play)
27 -
Yeah theres going to be a "peak" due to the event tome but I dont expect it to last very long...
13 -
To be fair, a boycott was always the wrong move, so this isn't too surprising. Boycotts only work when there's an actionable resolution the company being boycott can take- BHVR weren't responsible for this and have no ability to stop it from happening, all they can do is make a statement saying that they won't do this again.
They did technically already do that, but a more firm one would be nice- just unlikely to see it due to the realities of operating with license agreements.
5 -
There wasn't a boycott though... people were generally upset about the NFTs, but they weren't demanding to do a boycot. Hell, I quit too, but I didn't say boycot dbd. No one did
39 -
the dbd average is the 5th best result dbd has EVER have. The boycott is a COMPLETE FAILURE
0 -
"I'm happy people continue to support a game run by developers who deceived their community and are in support of objectively harmful technologies, such great people :)"
55 -
Youo keep saying there was a boycott but nobody else is... Can you state a source? Or is this just a poor attempt at gaslighting?
31 -
There is a live event right now, too. As well as a new tome and a new character. Plenty plenty reason to play right now
1 -
I am VERY happy to support BHVR and even happier that your negativity failed to damage the company
3 -
A boycott was an unlikely dream, the idea was to raise awareness and get people to know about DBD's offensive lies and damaging connections to an ecologically ruinous pyramid scheme.
9 -
Maybe they mean the group that was demanding to boycott dbd a couple of months ago.
0 -
U sure everything is fine? I'm very curious what we have in November
27 -
What is wrong with you?
37 -
Massaging the ego of a company that doesn't even know you exist..... Why? To what end?
40 -
Peak players doesn't mean average active players. The daily average playerbase is half of that. And it was a SHOP BOYCOTT not a DON'T PLAY. People were still playing while not using the shop. Regardless yes the Boycott was dumb and it accomplished nothing.
11 -
if you like being lied to, more power to you ig. Also how is wanting to raise awareness of the harmful impact of NFTs negativity? I'm curious. Or do you like to label anybody who has an opinion as negative?
15 -
Do you realise 45k is the 5th best result in the HISTORY of dbd?
1 -
I never thought any kind of boycott would succeed, all I ever stated was that I am personally not going to play the game anymore. I never even said I was advocating for a boycott, people like you just took it that way. If you wanna continue to be BHVR's lapdog, then go ahead.
Hope you have fun with the game.
2 -
So if people keep leaving it's fine cause it's not 0 right? :D
5 -
you say lapdog I say supporter, but the real point is that dbd is going VERY strong despite all the negativity of a tiny minority
2 -
Also let's see if this keeps up after all the hype dies down- 2 week Halloween event, lots of recent BP codes, new Survivor and big balance Midchapter. Will a boycott (which is about Pinhead and buying w/IRL money, not playing the game) make massive changes to the playerbase? Probably not. But if you want results just check the reviews of the Hellraiser chapter. There's your boycott :)
4 -
Again, who said there was a boycott? At this point youre obviously just avoiding the question because you know nobody did...
Also, to be clear, I cant imagine anyone - even somebody who endorsed a boycott - wanted to damage the company. The people who were upset by the actions of BHVR were upset because they like the game and want the company to succeed, but in the right way.
4 -
The numbers don't support what you are saying, dbd is doing extremely well and no amount of bitterness willchange that
1 -
Let's look at numbers after the free trial is over and then again after the Halloween event. 😂
9 -
You realize BHVR does not care about you, right? They do not know you exist, and they never will.
Your 'positivity doesn't matter, just like my negativity doesn't.
27 -
sure, lets see. I predict a growth
0 -
I find it funny that at this hour the player count of DBD is among the highest its been since the summer and you can't even get into a match without a over 50% chance of ending up in an infinite loading screen
5 -
and even so? I can still be happy that a bunch of people, a tiny minority, tried their best to attack BHVR and DBD and they failed and the game I like is doing very well, close to its all time peak
0 -
Can you clarify who said there was a boycott? Whats your source? I havent heard anything about this. Are you... lying...? On the internet? No, no... Couldnt be... Nobody would do such a thing!
13 -
And the people that think know about NFTs don't either because they just read a post from tumblr filled with misinformation.
3 -
Then be happy, but don't act all high and mighty.
People are allowed to dislike the game and 'attack' BHVR for their scummy business practices. If you like the game, fine, I'm happy for you.
But don't act like people who complain are just there to be negative. I love this game too, maybe even more than you, and I'm disappointed to see it in this state.
23 -
You say supporter I say apologist. It seems like in your mind Bhvr and the devs can't do no wrong
18 -
The boycott was expressed on this forum by some of the people who commented on this very post as a way to attack BHVR. They failed
1 -
Can you link it? Or quote it? If only one or two people said it then no wonder nobody was aware and participating.
This is like cheering on a donut company because only one person was on a diet. Nobody else was dieting...
6 -
No one was boycotting to begin with? Also dbd boycotts usually have zero impact when they have happened in the past because the game has sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide and has such a large player churn that people who do boycott get immediately replaced.
I wouldn't take pure player numbers as statement of overall happiness. People like playing during events and getting the free items that come with events. Not to mention they're giving players 666,666bp just for logging on during the event. Of course the player count will spike.
9 -
They might be talking about me and a few other forum users who decided to leave the game recently. Personally, I never saw anybody talking about a boycott, and I never mentioned one myself.
I guess OP took offense to people leaving this perfect game from this perfect company and is trying to act all high and mighty about #########.
14 -
Meanwhile I'm happy that several articles were written about the negative reaction towards Boss Protocol (Which also contained a general negative attitude towards NFT's in general), a general negative attitude towards Boss Protocol on Twitter (who only have about 250 followers). Which will hopefully help quash future partners from trying to use such cash-grab tactics (especially using blockchains as inefficient as Ethereum)
Still wish that BHVR didn't openly endorse Boss Protocol though. And if they're involved in the Saw or Texas Chainsaw Massacre's NFT's (Should they also be using Ethereum) I will probably drop this game for good.
7 -
I don't know that anybody literally used the word "boycott", but I definitely saw posts from people saying things like "I've uninstalled the game" and "People should leave negative reviews of the Hellraiser DLC on Steam".
Really, though, I think the most common comment might be "Can someone explain what an NFT is? 😕"
3 -
Yeah I think OP is either making things up completely or has no understanding of what people were saying or doing.
Even if there was a similar boycott to the last one, player numbers wouldnt decrease. The last one was just about not making in-game purchases. Either way OP seems to be deliberately wrong and I'm at a loss as to why...?
14 -
Who knows.
I guess I'm glad he's enjoying the game when I can't, though.
3 -
I honestly hope this game fails, at this point.
The game is much less fun, way more competitive and the company making these decisions is way more scummy then when I started playing in early 2018.
I know it won't, because the average person doesn't give a #########, but I wish it would.
28 -
This has to be a troll, right!? Right!? That's all I'm gonna say because if I posted my thoughts on here I'd get banned. That is all. Lol
9 -
I don’t think a lot of people realize what a small percentage of the total player base actually contributes to the forums. And this small percentage is not representative of the player base as a whole - it’s just mostly the really pissed off complainers and the occasionally moderately pissed off ones like me 😂
2 -
Youre not missing too much. Survivors will rush gens and killers will tunnel and camp. Its how DbD always is during events.
Stay strong brother.
7 -
Thanks, Gimli :)
