I'm really quite annoyed by the Spirit nerf

I'm an old-school player who took a break about a year ago that ended up being a 1 year break. When I came back, I saw that Spirit, my main when I play killer, had received a pretty substantial nerf, survivors in terror radius can now hear her phasing. This change destroys so much of what I could once do with her. Before, if my power was on a cooldown I would sometimes just stand still beside a window or pallet to act like I was a husk while using my power, and a survivor would climb across the pallet or window right into my waiting arms, that is gone now. Before I could sometimes gen grab someone by using monitor and abuse to decrease terror radius and then phase up behind them from just the edge of the terror radius, that is gone now. Before, players didn't really know which side of a pallet they needed to be on to put it down when spirit exits her phase, but thanks to the directional phasing sound you can often tell now. and put down the pallet in the right direction to block an attack.

While her new Iri is nice and all, it still has a fair amount of counterplay, and many like myself tend to hoard iri's for when they think they are going against a toxic SWF, so it kinds of sucks that you need to use her Iri now for Spirit to be even close to the top tier killer she once was.

    @TheGannMan You know how to handle this better than I ever could, I'm no Spirit main.

    I understand you, in a way.

    I became a Spirit main in the aftermath of Freddy's stupid rework, but stopped maining her when they removed her collision and gave her a vault animation.

    What you are feeling right now might just be the same thing that I felt back then.

    You don't need to use her Iri. It just takes a little bit more creativity and skill now, rather than just fake phasing and putting survivors into coin-toss situations.

    The things that were gutted on Spirit were unfair and 100% needed a change. Survivors now have counterplay and are able to react but you still have understand that you move at 176% movement and this is talking without add ons. Just because survivors have something to react to doesn’t mean she’s a dead killer, all you gotta do is practice her and you’ll do fine.

    1 thing I noticed that she has acceleration when starting to phase. Which make controling her a bit hard in the beginning. Beside that, I dont have a head phone so cant really play well with her.

    Another thing is with ShadowStep & Vigil buff. Unable to see scratch mark & decrease Haunted ground timer. Its can be really hard if anyone wants to adept her.

    though now people are going on about the purple killer instinct addon combined with md ring which lowered the bar for playing spirit quite substantially (which implies there was skill involved in playing her) so that's a tad ironic

    the takeaway is that you're subject to the same 'headphones = win' shtick as survivors only their audio tracking of you is an entire galaxy above yours, even before factoring things like absolute iron will (stridor has zero effect on rank 3 now) or weirdly quiet footstep maps
