Changes to windows and pallets??

Have I missed something that has changed with windows and pallets. I used to be able to hit people as the vaulted pallets and windows, but now it seems like there is the noise, but they just carry on running. Then with the time it takes to either break the pallet, climb the window or finding another route, chasing survivors more difficult. Surly if the survivor is on the pallet of halfway through a window, the hit should work.

Of course there is two sides to this coin, as a survivor it is great.
