Boon totems on multi floor maps

Boon totems on multi floor maps should have effect only on the floor where they are. I.e. the area of effect should be: sphere intersected with floor.

Otherwise boon totems are too OP on multi floor maps.

I don't think they can do it. It's just how it works in this game.

But yeah, you have basically double range.

Why wouldn't it be possible? They need to add an additional condition that the effects start on the hight of the totem and ends e.g. 3 meters above the totem.

(If there are totems in odd positions then those need to have custom height values.)

Range going through floors cuts both ways, it also helps any killer ability with limited range. For instance, Killers can hear generators and survivors through floors, can see auras through floors, and their terror radius goes through floors for abilities that work in that (e.g. Unnerving Presence). So it helps Boons and survivor abilities with limited range and also killer abilities with limited range,

Yes that's true, and I also don't really like that. With terror radius it is a bit difficult, because if the killer is above you then he could drop down on you through a hole. So terror radius must go through floors, unless some complex algorithm is implemented which calculates the shortest distance the killer is able to get to the survivor.

My problem with boons is that if it is above you it is often very time consuming to go up and find the totem.

But unless you are nurse how do you benefit from that? You still have to go through that staircase and the survivor could be on the other side of the map the moment he realizes he is coming. Plus sound is 2D so the killer doesn't really know if the steps and moans he is hearing are in the same floor or the one above him, it almost hurts more than helps.

I agree- multi-level maps and elevated catwalks are definitely the biggest sticking point with boons right now. I'm hesitant to say their elevation should be changed, though, but mostly because I'm still on my "totem spawns need to be changed" bullshit lmao

Good point! It's clearly double range on these maps.

I can tell by context which floor they’re on most of the time. Especially if they sound close but I can’t see them it’s obvious they’re on the other floor. Or I hear a gen being worked on, it’s obvious which floor that is. And terror radius abilities like Unnerving Presence or Coulrophobia or Legion’s Killer Instinct work through floors too.

Also it’s always useful to know where the survivors roughly are. I don’t see people complaining about BbQ and Chili’s aura much even though by the time you get there the survivors could have left for instance.

True but now it makes me at least tolerate indoor maps more which I hate with a 100% passion cause its sure as heck not survivor friendly, oh you can just forget it if its a nurse with bbq on midwich.

Survivors finally get an equal opportunity with multi-floor benefits.
