Very odd disconnection and "matchmaking locked"

Was playing as survivor. Maybe one minute in to the match. Black DBD loading screen. End lobby screen with "disconnected from host" notification. The killer was shown to have left (0 bp). I go back to play another survivor game....4 minute "matchmaking locked" mini-ban.
I mean what the heck? Surely the killer left but why did I get punished too?
