Self care vs Circle of healing
Pros of self care: you don't have to find and bless a totem, and you don't need to worry about all totems getting cleansed.
Pros of boons: if you know where a totem is, and get to it quickly, self healing is almost the same time of using slef care, and from now on everyone can heal there infinite times, and the killer doesn't know where the boon has been placed unless he sees you, and if he wants to snuff it he must waste time before chasing you if you're near it, or don't waste time but go to the other side of the map with you and then, after a hook/slug/chase lost, snuff it.
At this point my question is:
why is self care still a perk in the game if even for solos it's much better a circle of healing, and if for swf with boons and coordinated perks you can go completely nutts?
Even using the combo self care and botany it's still much better a boon, which is such a positive investment of time

or, better yet, inner healing, which is a generic perk now.

I disagree, I think Circle of healing is just stronger.
1 person can have it, and the entire team has infinite healing.
Also, at the start, unless the killer has lethal pursuer if you coordinate, bless a totem, hide corrupt, you just got an advantage just hiding.

well, yes, running both boon perks is a good combo, especially for a swf, but for solo-Q, running inner healing is a good alternative for clutch healing.

Lucky break is massively stronger than shadowstep unless you're using no mither, because you still leave blood pools.
if you combine it with iron will, good luck for the killer in indoor maps, and most times it's a free escape even in open maps if you pre path the best escaping route.

The time investment is roughly equal for the first heal, but is between 8 and 16 seconds saved per heal past the first per blessing.
There's almost no time actually lost, survivor-side, for that first heal, because Self Care is slower and you'd be using two survivor's time without.

Well, why are like 80% of perks useless in the game when everyone relies on the best ones/meta?!
I don't see a point in SC now too. But at the same time, if SC is super slow, at the other hand you need the preparation for a boon to work, and also need to move to another location which I think balances a bit with SC on time wasted (but it also depends on map RNG and totens spots). But the winning factor for me about boons it's because they work in a relative big area, applies more than one effect and there's 5 of them which makes for a considerable pressure to the killer to find/waste precious time. I play solo surv but I can't imagine how a coordinated swf team efficiency might go over the top with these.

Self healing perks have come to be questioned because of how good med kits + add ons are in general.

It's called 'Power creep' and it's a real concept among a lot of things like card games and video games alike
A lot of newer content will outshine older content. Funnily enough, DBD doesn't suffer too much from Power Creep since some of the strongest perks are, to this day, still free (Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Adrenaline and so on)
They obviously want people to buy the new shiny content though

I do, from experience as a survivor and as a killer. A well-placed CoH can heavily mitigate even 3-gen pressure, as I've been experiencing in SoloQ and killer - and it can get downright oppressive when used by SWFs.
My conclusion, as I stated, is that CoH is conditionally the same or better than Self Care for time investment - but with bad placement or choices by survivors it can be made worse.

Circle of healing is just straight up better than 4 medkits, 100%.
Now instead of 4 medkits, you just need 1/2 circle of healing in a team, and all of you can just use massive toolboxes with tons of charges/keys with blood amber to see the killer. You don't need to worry at all about healing, and if the totem is snuffed...you replace it!

Will outshine because the devs didn't think about rebalanced older stuff, which is possible sometimes in seconds just buffing numbers.
There are still perks like this is not happening still being hot garbage

I'm convinced This is not Happening will remain unchanged until the game dies, whenever that is

Easy answer. Cost.
Self-care can be unlocked with the base game from Claudette.
Boon: Circle of Healing has to be unlocked by either hopeing it shows up in the Shrine of Secerets or buying Mikaela from the shop with shards or auric Cells.
If you want to use shards you need to grind for them if your new or if you don't have enough now, grind for them still.

There are 5 totems, almost always equally distributed around the map, with usually one in the centre.
If the totem is in an angle of the map, and you're there, the killer won't know probably where it is and you'll get a heal out of it. Not much time wasted if you know the totem spots
If the totem is on top of a building, like it can be on ironworks of misery, you'll have to consume more time going up there, but that totem wil never ever get snuffed unless you go there WITH the killer, or get downed there close enough, because the killer going there completely wastes all his pressure

Also, with circle of healing you just need 1/2 per survivor in a team, when self care needs every survivor to use it to have/use medkits to have the benefit

Excuse me, I'm a bit tired, could you repeat what you mean?

Ok but at that point the match is over, gg

I do agree in a swf. But getting even basic coordination in solo is like herding cats. You cant guarantee what your totem user is doing or if they know how to loop or not because if they die.. either from tunneling, camping, team sabotage or just stupid plays, your med kit is gone
Vs all four of you carrying a med kit and maybe the killer using 3 perks if they want to slot in Franklin's. In thise situations, they dont need to traverse the map to the totem stop and hope the killer also isn't there chasing someone else. Instead, they just run to the closest safe location and start healing.

Give it time. Boons are not always going to be as popular as they are now. I’m already starting to have consecutive matches when they are not in play. It can co-exist with Self-care. I just wish more players would recognize when it’s best to use both. One gen left, it’s 25% done with someone on it, get on that gen. Don’t hide around the corner self caring or blessing a totem to self care. You cant mess around in a world with Pop Goes the Weasel.

They both have some super obvious reasons as to why you would run them...

I honestly prefer Self-Care over Circle of Healing. Is that weird?
0 -
No not at all I prefer to use self care especially in solo queue as people has tendancy to want you to heal them and after they heal you, they run off and your giving that big ######### look. I only use circle for SWF not solo. Potatoes be in circle and not healing themselves XD.

It comes down to playstyle... IMO

As someone who often runs Bite The Bullet, I prefer Self-Care, just because it gives me stealth healing mid chase if I think I can get away with it.
I’ve actually been pretty successful running an Adept Claudette, with BTB as the fourth perk, since the REmake DLC came out.
Although the upcoming Unbreakable boon totem might see me running a 3 boon build, provided boons don’t see a another significant nerf.

Slow down. Who's been cleansing totems since the release of boon totems? Personally I basically seen Hex perks become non-existent, and cleansing totems became detrimental. Have seen more NOEDs more often.

The Chad OG Self-Care vs the virgin booner totem COS.
The answer is obvious.

Tbh Self Care has always been a questionable perk. It has the advantage of being always usable though, which in combination with some other perks (like Bite the Bullet, or Lucky Break) can make it very useful, while Boons are more situational especially in solo Q.
