Make the Hatch spawn in again when the Generators are almost done.
I know I'm not the only one who thinks BHVR has pretty much nerfed the Hatch into the ground. The fact that the Hatch ONLY spawns for the last Survivor isn't a good thing, and I know that even Killer mains are complaining about this. So BHVR, please fix this.

At the very least, when all gens are done.

why lol no more big hatch escapes, it is pretty great.
15 -
I'd be okay with it.

Let's answer your question with another question. How often have you seen all four Survivors escape through the Hatch?
3 -
very rarely, because it could only happen when all 5 gens are done, so they could just leave. How often did I see 3 man escapes? Extremely often, if one survivor is dead the moment only 1 gen remains they could leave, if you play good as killer and secure a 3 gen and start pressuring good, they could just find a key and leave lmao
9 -
Because it’s a lot more fun to be hostage to a three gen on either side. /s
0 -
if the survivors 3 gen'd themselves they deserve to be punished for it and not have a deus ex machina device spawn to let all of them escape despite messing up. Hatch change was a good thing.
13 -
The last 2 survivors need to see the hatch
0 -
It's fine now, it became more of a gamble. The survivors always had more opportunity of looking for hatch near the end. The very hatch itself is a way of winning by accomplishing nothing in the match.
3 -
having survs escape before their main objective of doing gens is done is annoying. i do see hatch as a fail safe for a scenario where the gens could not be done, but how do you implement that without allowing groups of survs to escape at once?
the egc also started upon shutting the hatch when a key was used and the hatch stayed open for 10 or 30 seconds dependent of key (i do believe). a survivor leaving early could've been a bad thing for surv and killer alike.
there are suggestions of the hatch spawning when all 5 gens are done, this gives more possibilities to the killer to counter the key before it comes into play. it might limit the number of survivors alive at the end. other than it is pretty similar.
i dont have any ideas to the hatch, but im sure someone somewhere might have a better solution.
4 -
It was 10 seconds flat for Dull or Skeleton Keys, the time usage on the different keys is for their aura reading add-ons.
Bringing back hatch spawning after five gens are repaired is a great start in the right direction. Or just reverting the whole hatch nerf altogether.
0 -
why?
1 -
No. Leave it as is.
Keys and early hatch spawns encourage selfish play even more than MMR does - not to mention SWFs being able to use them disproportionately; they're a detriment to survivor cohesion.
4 -
Rare and ultra rare items should have powerful effects, otherwise what’s the point? Just look at some of the game-changing killer add-ons still out there, yet survivors aren’t afforded any chance to escape apart from gates or the hatch for the last person now. Even if they did contribute a lot of effort in the match.
Keys keep me from having to die with rank 20 potatoes the mobile team pairs me with (the hatch and key nerfs aren’t live yet on there). Guess they prioritize quick lobbies over fair ones. So I just do my gens and go if the team isn’t working out (or working period).

Watch the intro videos. Sometimes self-preservation is the right choice, especially in solo queue.

Hatch is fine now
5 -
Ever since this hatch change, I get the hatch almost every time when I'm the last survivor left alive. It's great.
I wouldn't mind if the hatch still spawned once all five gens are done, I thought that was an unnecessary change, but considering that change required altering an achievement (which is a huge pain with Sony) I doubt the devs did that lightly, so they must have their reasons.
1 -
nah. if they did this i would accept it if they nerfed keys. like alot. so 1 key= 1 escape and then it closes.
2 -
You still have a chance to be the last person and leave through hatch. If you have a key, you can still leave after the killer closes it, is it not powerful?
Do you think it was fair in the old days when they could make a 2 or 3 escape with keys when the killer sacrificed 1 or 2 people?
6 -
A 6,000 or 7,000 BP item just to possibly use as the last person all the time is rather pitiful. Not to mention the expensive add-ons that go with it. No, it’s really not that powerful in that scenario. It just means killer went to patrol gates while you snuck back to hatch. Whoopie.
Posted prematurely. Yes, I am in the minority I’m sure but I do think it was. Killers don’t need to 4K every game.

How is it fine now? There is LITERALLY no point to bring a key into a game, now. Yes, the Hatch is supposed to be a last resort escape, I'm not disputing that. What I am disputing is that it's now damn near impossible to find the Hatch because it ONLY spawns when there's one Survivor left, and that's not really all that fun.
I do think the key having a bar to unlock the Hatch is pretty nice, though. Gives the Killer time to stop Survivors when they have a key and are trying to escape that way.
0 -
if you want to escape through hatch so badly maybe bring Left Behind lol
1 -
Hatch is fine how it is. No need to return it to it's old state which was op
3 -
i would've gone with that as well, but looking back at it, would it insta start the egc?
because if it could it could leave either side in a bad state. possibly ruining a good escape game or a good kill game.
and that would suck
0 -
Save the perk slot and just run a blueprint offering. Heh. Only risky if it’s an indoor map or one without a shack/main building though!
Also, this hatch change really puts a lot of strain on the Rift challenges associated with hatch. More so for killer than survivor. So there’s that.
0 -
It doesn’t surprise me that survivor mains want hatch reverted back to it’s old broken state. Y’all actually gotta escape the way you’re supposed to now.
3 -
Not just Survivor mains. I main Killer, and I want ot to be back to how it was. Should tell you how bad this Hatch nerf is.
1 -
No we don’t need to go back to giving survivors a free get out of jail card after they 3 genned themselves.
4 -
First of all: It ain't a get outta jail free card.
Second of all: What does 3 genning even mean?
Third of all: Even if the Survivors do find the Hatch, more often than not, they don't have a key.
0 -
3 gen is when the last 3 gens are close to each other.
I’m fine with one survivor escaping if I got a 3k already.
It wasn’t fair that multiple survivors could escape through hatch because of one item when there was still gens to be repaired.
6 -
Agreed.
I think removing the hatch before all gens are done is the right thing, but having it only spawn for the last survivor is a bit too far. It should spawn when all gens are done, regardless of how many survivors remain.
Those survivors still need to make it to the hatch and use a key, which only opens it for 10 seconds, chances are multiple survivors aren't escaping at that point in the game, but if they do, that's a feat they've earned.
2 -
Overnerfed hatch. Overnerfed Moris.
0 -
Hatch is a pity win, why add it back so some shmuck with a key and his friends can all escape for free?
No, hatch is FAIR the way it is now. A way for the last Survivor alive to escape by being lucky. THAT is how it should have always been, your friends are sacrificed, you have lost the game and you are lucky that you even get a chance to escape without all gens even being done.
2 -
Lol no, a 4 man group of Survivors escaping via hatch and a key is not "fair". Thank GOD this was changed.
2 -
Keys were BS. You are crying over not being able to use BS anymore.
1 -
Multiple survivors escaping before all the gens are done is infuriating I agree.
But once all gens are done, you don't need to patrol gens anymore. You only have the hatch and the exits to worry about, three locations, just like the last three gens. You can defend the hatch in that situation.
If you can't, then yeah, four survivors getting out is earned.
I'm not suggesting they revert all the changes. Having an unlocking animation that takes time is brilliant, and if anything makes defending the hatch even easier. They can't just all run past you and slide down the hole in an instant. It makes that hatch just one more exit, that takes time to open. THAT is what would make the hatch and keys fair and in line with Mori's.
In that scenario, the hatch is just another exit. Would take just as long to open, requires a survivor to bring a key. Still requires survivors to complete their objective by doing all the gens.
Meanwhile Mori's remove a hook state, after you've earned it by clearing the first two hook states.
One more exit, one less hook state, after completing prior objectives. They're finally equal.
The current situation is beyond pointless. If the killer finds and closes the hatch, then they're not just going to let you open it with the key that they saw you bring in, and as the one sole survivor remaining you have no option to do anything else.
0 -
We are not complaining about that at all.
Also 3genning is when survivors do gens in such a way that the last three gens are on the same side of the map and close enough together that they can be patrolled and watched easily by the killer. When that happen it makes escaping require more effort.
1 -
Recycle the hatch so that it appears when there are only two survivors
0 -
No because than survivors will wait for their teammates to die so they get their pity escape.
4 -
This can be done with or without the hatch being visible. At least when it is visible the killer can plan to get there first, as they have priority in closing the hatch.
0 -
I'd love, if the hatch was changed back to how it was before.
There is that challenge to escape through the hatch. I had now two matches, where we managed to open the exit gates, but the three other survivors didn't leave...
Very frustrating...
EDIT: 3 matches..

If you complain about getting 3 genned then the issue isn't on the killer's side, but your own. You and your teammates decided to do all the gens on the same side of the map while lacking any thought of macroplay/late game map manipulation. If you were better at the game you wouldn't have to EVER worry about a 3 gen because you and your team played smart instead of trying to rush through all 5 gens. Or maybe you should just bring a boon like every other swf and stop caring about the 3 gen. Then you just force killer into a lose lose situation where he either is forced to commit to a chase and lose the 3 gen, or stay in the 3 gen and let your team constantly reset every 8 seconds or so. You have options to play around it
If you think that keys and the hatch need to go back to their previously unhealthy state then you're mistaken. Under no circumstance should any amount of additional objective time be nullified by in game mechanics, survivor perks/toolbox addons, etc because it leads to an unhealthy environment. Prove thyself is already an obnoxious perk that in itself can potentially save 30 seconds worth of gen progress while active and while coupled with toolboxes and brand new parts, quickly can add up to the equivalent to an entire gen worth of progress. Getting a 3 man out despite your teammates screwing you and popping 4 gens on the same side of the map and causing a 3 gen should not be rewarded with a hatch escape, period. So in other words, yes it is a get out of jail free card. A delusional player would say otherwise. Keys and the hatch in their previous state were not healthy for the game in any meaning of the word and led to matches that had no business being anything less than a 3k ending prematurely. I'm sorry but a survivor main who only plays survivor is the only person who could ever suggest such a silly idea because anyone who only plays a single role has 0 grasp over the concept of game balance.
1 -
survivors don't deserve a reward after playing poorly either
3 -
I've had some time to go back to this thread after I made it, and I had a thought. I think having the hatch spawn when the last Generator is fully repaired would be a fair thing to ask for. Just have it spawn near one of the Exit Gates. Ultimately it doesn't really matter to me now, but it's an okay idea I feel.

Hatch is fine now. I dont have to tunnel the person instantly who brings a key or use franklins just to make sure they don't all escape.
Before i used to do that or i would just skip lobbies with keys. Now if people have keys they still have a chance for the hatch but i dont have to worry about all of them or 3 of them escaping after gens are done giving me no chance whatsoever to kill anyone.
Survivors have enough crutch perks in this game they dont need the biggest crutch which was the old hatch back.

Killers should be able to ATTEMPT to 4K, instead of Survivors be handed a free escape because they never want to die.
I love this Survivor entitlement of 'Killer should not 4K all the time'. I sure as hell should if I'm out-playing the Survivors. But Survivors have been coddled for so long that now they think Killer should just NOT win if Survivors don't want them too. 🙃
Hatch is fine as it now is.
3 -
Then you should understand that survivors don't need to escape every game, and that's why the hatch was nerfed.
This game is ridiculously survivor sided right now. If your escape rate is so bad right now, then link up with a swf. If you're still not escaping often I don't know what to tell you.

I completely agree. I have dropped millions of points to get keys in this game and now I feel it was all wasted. The hatch change was beyond wrong and unfair for survivors. When I found out this happened I literally leaned back in my chair and regretted putting as much time and investment as I have into this game. I honestly couldn't believe they did this. The hatch should not have been changed this much. It should still spawn based on the number of gens done and survivors alive. That was never a problem. And also the fact that the key doesn't instantly open the hatch now is another unnecessary and unfair thing for survivors. The fact that the hatch was literally the only way anyone was going to escape in many situations if you had a key was already annoying. Now you can only use it if you're the last survivor and it has a delayed open animation now? You have got to be kidding me. Keys are worthless now in my opinion and I wish I could get all my BPs back I ever spent on them. I'm never going to use them. Whats the point?

Your wish is granted, but now killers can mori on first down
The monkeys paw closes

"It should still spawn based on the number of gens done and survivors alive. That was never a problem."
Stop and think about that. If you can't see the problem, you never played Killer and you relied on overpowered mechanics to escape the Trial
EDIT: Why did I quote the wrong post smh
