Do you think competitive survivor teams will make a "Booner" role?
I mean, most teams already breakdown pretty evenly with 1 or 2 runners, someone with gen perks, and someone with unhook perks. I could see comp teams adjusting now to make boons a anchored part of their gameplay. If you have two full boon sets in play on opposite sides of the map, or the middle + the side you guys are working, it could be really slick.
Survivor 1 -Booner-: (Circle of Heal, Shadow Step, Exponential), and 1 utility perk. (Dead Hard, BT, Totem Tracking, W/e the comp needs)
Survivor 2- Runner: Standard runner stuff. DH, Lithe/SB, etc.
Survivor 3- Runner/Unhooker: Runner perks + maybe Deliverance. (Other runner or a booner runs interference if he's targeted before he gets his first unhook.)
Survivor 4- Booner.

I read the title wrong.

Boons are generally banned in most comps.

Gen speed is the most important part of a compet team. The longer you waste, the more time the killer has to win, so no.

They can't stay banned forever though. The game is going to keep adding play and counterplay around them.

As someone already said, from what I understand, boons are just outright banned in tournament play. In a coordinated group, they are just obscenely strong and blind-counter a lot of killers.
Of course, some killers/builds can work against boon play, but it's gets really tedious to build around one feature of the game because it's so obscenely powerful.

Hrm. I guess I just sort of assumed they were banned because they were new and people didn't have a handle on em yet. Not because they were unbalanced in a way that violated the spirit of a comp tournament outright. I guess the answer to the thread is "no", lol.

Boons are generally banned in competitive play. I have yet to see a league/tournament allow them. They're hilariously broken. Not even remotely balanced.
Teams generally can only bring one yellow medkit (yellow add ons) or no medkit at all depending on the killer. Healing speed perks outside of We'll Make It are also usually banned. No chance boons are coming to comp.
Pentimento/NOED combo will also probably be banned. NOED/No Way Out is already usually banned on some killers.

Already seeing this. I incorporated coh into my solo build, but I'm consistently seeing 1-2 swf members running these perks.
Best strategy I've seen from these teams is one sets up coh in a corner/finished gen and the other puts shadowstep in the killer's patrol zone. Killer is force to chase one survivor or they never make any progress.

Bro the fact that there's a tournament scene on this broken game is wack. Lmao.

Yeah, not a fan of tournament scene. I believe they have a part in ruining the game, making it ultra competitive with cheesy tactics.

Thank god for that second "o".

The tournaments I've seen have banned Boon perks. Shows how balanced they are.

Tournaments in DBD are more of a joke than anything. You can have a good laugh, but they are completely different from regular DBD-play. The only thing that translates into public matches are that Killers claim to go against tournament squads all the time (while those mostly dont even play Public matches).
There are tournaments which ban Killer Add-Ons above yellow rarity. Shows how balanced they are.

Even if it doesn't happen in tournament play, its probably a valid outlook for SWF teams that play in public.

I'm happy to know boons are banned in tournaments from reading these comments.
I faced a couple of boon squads on RPD, and I kid you not, I had no scratch marks to follow throughout the entire match. If I ever lost someone one, they completely healed on their own in seconds too.
I snuffed out a couple but you literally can't get them all, and the ones I did get just got relit in seconds because each survivor remembered where their personal boon was. Meanwhile I had to memorize the location of all of them if I wanted to even try to stop them.
Not that I could stop them though. It took me 20-30 seconds to find and snuff a boon on that map, which gave them a total of 80-120 seconds of gen time, only for the survivor whose boon I snuffed to relight it in roughly the same amount of ~20-30 second time (including travel).
It was brutal and strengthened my idea that these perks are just not balanced.
