Is it me or the global killer skill level has decreased ?

For the last few days, i have noticed a huge decrease in the skill level of the killers i face even though i don't rank down MMR wise as i'm winning 70% of the trials. And of course, every day it's getting worst...

Do you experience the same thing ?

My queue times are really long, around 10 minutes during the evening, and ye, average killers now. I rarely see a good one.

Depends on what to you mean by "decreased skill". Do you mean like more people are tunneling / camping? Because if yes, then no surprise there if you see the recent changes to meta and new stuff Survivors have.

Nope, just asking if you have the same feel that good killers are leaving.

Nah, tunneling/camping is okay i guess, i mean it exists but i have seen less campers the last few days. But for looping/map control, i see more and more less experienced players.

Matchmaking was very poor for me yesterday along with my brother. It wasn't just killers that were inexperienced, it was survivors too. Hopefully that was just a few unlucky games.

Yes. I knew it would be the results of the last updates. I mean i'm playing killer as well and yes some trials, most of them, are unplayable as the game design favors the survivors way too much.

But honestly, i didn't think to see such a huge change in such a short time.

Especially when i have said in some previous discussions that the boons + MMR were about to kill the game... well i guess it's starting to kill the DbD's high level scene.

Killers are gods at pallet now, and killers have it easier than ever, so they used to 4k. Now with the new sbmm skill matters, and you can see a lot of bad killers. You can see a lot of killers that only do 2/3 hooks after 5 gens are done, and those ones 100% have noed

Nah, the first weeks with the SBMM, killers were good and there was a good competition during chases, even though they couldn't win any trials.

Now they are not even good in chases...

And most pallets are around safe loops, how can you say killers are gods around pallets ?

There are more players, so more new weak killers. It's not global decrease it's player total count increase.

With ten minutes queue times ? i don't think so unfortunately :<

There are maybe more survivors but not enough killers.

I have instant matches as surv in Europe. 5-10 min waiting as killer

A lot of killers who heard that kills is all that matters for mmr started to cheese their killers by heavy tunneling and camping.

Strategies that work really well against lower experience survivors but fall appart against strong ones.

So they kept raising their mmr while not actually getting much better themself. End result is that there are a bunch of low experience killers stuck in high mmr now.

Who then proceed to come here and say the game is so impossible for killer. Good killers didn't leave. Good killers still win 70+% of their matches

People just need to realise that mmr isn't a reward system and that higher mmr isn't nececarelly better for them.

Tunneling and camping are good tactics when needed but overly relying on them is shooting yourself in the foot

Yes i know how lame it is, i'm playing killer at high MMR as well, against many sweaty team.

I don't think they use any cheat, i mean not that much. When you know a killer is trying some mindgames, just hold W during the next possible mindgame momentum and the killer is looping alone 😂.

If you run 3-4 slowdowns every game on every killer you're not getting better.

Player count has nothing to do with higher mmr killers. He asked why there are so many unskilled killers, I answered.

Playing killer after MMR is tough. I had to drop my main killer (Huntress) because I got to a MMR where I was downing survivors in <20 seconds and still losing all gens because survivors skillfully hold M1, and I don't really like to run slowdown other than Corrupt and sometimes Deadlock.

Now I mainly play Nurse and Plague, and even then I rarely play more than 5 or 6 games in a day, where before MMR I could play 15 and still not feel bored.

I'm at a point where I miss 2018 DBD. It had way more broken things but people there actually played the game, nowadays it feels like every team is trying to be a depip squad and speedrun DBD.

Do you know how the matchmaking is working ?

If you are a high MMR survivor, the MM is looking for killers around your MMR level. If it doesn't find any killer, it lowers the MMR requirement till it finds an opponent.

If you are a high MMR survivor and if you face lower skill level killer 10 games in a row, it means that the MM doesn't find any opponents to your skill level = there is not enough high MMR killers.

And yesterday evening it's what has happened to me. 10 minutes queue, low skill killers after low skill killers during 3 hours in a row...

The killer skill has dropped because they either left or switched to survivor. This is what happens when you focus on new content over balance. Bhvr is more concerned about attraction over retention. They know at high mmr their game is really unbalanced. But so long as they keep bringing in fresh meat with license characters, they dont care.

It is all depending of the MMR you play at. High MMR = long survivor queue, instant killer queue.

As far as queue times, it's probably your time and region. Right now, it takes me several minutes to get a game as killer. Instant as survivor. Roughly 7 hours from now that's switched.

Your que time has nothing to do with MMR. My que is instant at midnight and much longer first day half.

And I'm not going to talk about who is high MMR unless u can prove me u are best player in the world and give BHVR data. Opinion is opinion.

All the good killers didn't feel rewarded for being good in an underpowered role, so they either quit or started only tunneling and camping like everyone else.

  • Crowman

I used to play a lot of killer. Now I barely play and mostly play survivor if I do.

The game is just getting stale and killer is becoming a lot less fun. Devs keep nerfing fun aspects of killers meanwhile giving survivors more annoying tools that killers have to deal with.

Doesn't help that in patch notes or dev blogs they often word things in a way that show they favor survivors over killer. Can't say that makes me want to play killer.

The level of killers always was bad. The problem is that they think they are good resorting to camping and tunneling solos who don't have coordination.

Then, when they found a full meta/comms SWF they get traumatized.

It's rare to find a killer who gets 4K purely by patrolling gens and not hooks.

Depends on the time of day you play.

In the evening its instant killer queues all night; if you play in the day when most people are at work, or just after the kids get back from school, then more play killer until they can SWF later in the day.

Most seem to be only playing for challenges though until it gets super sweaty from both sides at night.

Devotion 10, platinum and almost all trophy/ Tomé challanges. I am not Top but decent good. I will became survivor main, cause killer is not rewarded good for skill. Op stuff like Boons, second chance, op items and rush fest. Ok, solo survivor is often bad, but cause bad or egoist teammates. Survivor is the power role by far. I'm out.

I'm back. I played today survivor with crosplay on and I didn't faced a pro killer at all. That's weird for me. My matches were always sweaty as survivor before this boon thing.

EU queue time now (11.20 p.m) as survivors is awful. It is so long omagad...

  • danielmaster87
    danielmaster87 Member Posts: 9,677

Take it as an educated guess, because all I hear from retired killer mains is "I'm glad I quit long ago. The game just keeps getting more survivor-sided. You don't get rewarded for playing well. You have to run full meta, a strong killer, AND sweat to win. The game's not fun."

  • bjorksnas

Games just not much fun as killer anymore sbmm is just managing to drain more and more fun out of it by the day

  • MrPsych
    MrPsych Member Posts: 265

Used to be a killer main, stopped playing when boons became a thing. I felt that the game was getting closer to being balanced for both sides, but latest changes to the game show that this balance was a mirage. Killer is supposed to be the power role, so why exactly do the survivors get access to way more tools and have way more power than I do as a killer? You are so easy to thwart out as a killer it's insulting. At that point being a Killer is the equivalent to that Simpsons scene where Sideshow Bob just steps on rakes endlessly. This is how non threatening you are.

  • Yankus
    Yankus Member Posts: 638

Good killers are quitting because MMR has ruined the game for them since they don't want to play a never-ending stream of sweaty swfs. All that leaves is newer killers.

  • Hannacia
    Hannacia Member Posts: 1,323

The killers i play dont do well after getting to middle MMR or higher. Only few killers can deal with boons big maps and endless looping and some of us refuse to play the meta killers so we are staying low because there is no place for us to go

Honest though ive given up the mentality that i have to kill. I go there if i kill if i kill and if i see toxic people i go stand somewhere and ill watch youtube while they have their fun. I don't care anymore. Games for killers arent fun.
