I thought the "Exposed" status effect showed every survivor's aura permanently until it was gone.

In the very beginning I would follow the "Unhook" action suggested by the game on my very first Hook and always Kill myself, and I never understood why, it took me FOREVER to realize that you aren't actually supposed to press anything and it's better to just hang there.

Since then they've changed the wording a bit, but I remember the way it was it was very safe to assume that you were supposed to try and unhook yourself lol.

Didn't know you had to button mash in struggle phase, pressed it once and assumed each time I messed up the timing or it's only a short struggle or something lol. Also used to think the exhaustion timer meant the killer has nurse's calling for some reason

I actually thought the same, lol. Was genuinely really surprised and confused when I realised that it actually meant that you became insta-downable.

Got another one! I initially changed my run keybind from shift to Q because I used Q as a sprint key in a lot of other games I played. This made me completely incapable of looking behind me in a chase because it was really difficult to hold Q and S or D at the same time (or at least, impossible to hold Q and then dynamically rotate between WASD.) I was really confused and frustrated as to how people looked behind them in chase and I was convinced there had to be some other method to it.

I definitely also had the misunderstanding of what Exposed did, I equipped NOED thinking that I'd get some tasty aura reading when the last generator was done and thought it wasn't working properly lol

I only kept the teachable perks on the characters they came with. I didn't know I can mix and match with other characters.

I used to think self care was the best perk in the game.

    • i thought that the game was killer sided
    • i thought that DbD or Devour hope were game changers perk
    • i thought that being good at looping meant to just turn around the same pallet loop till you use the pallet
    • i thought that waiting in the loop after a hit was the best way to loose killer's time

    😂

Survivor main, high MMR, still using self-care. Honestly it has saved so many escapes, for me and some late EGC saves that i cannot play without it.

I used to play DS/DH/IW/BT and switched to SC/Lithe/BT/IW and i perform way better with those perks, for myself and my team.

    SC is underrated.

Same when i play killer, i see so many survivors that cannot heal and think DH will save them while that's not the case and they give me ez win staying injured the whole trial...

As a killer, I never looked up when I ran.

I thought Trapper only got a single Bear Trap that he could use exactly once the entire game.

It was back in 2016 with 2 friends (1 I still play dbd with and the other was once a IRL friend, but he quit playing around the end of 2016 and also did some crap so me and my other IRL friends have no contact with him anymore.)

It was shortly after Myers came out, he was really scary to go against because he was quite the unusual Killer back then (looking like a normal human, no heartbeat, just silence and fear.)

I used to snack during matches back then and stopped because of the following incident.

I was eating peanuts... casually, when Myers came around the corner in Tier 1 and smacked me... I almost choked on that little sh** of a peanut till I managed to shoot it out like a canon. They just laughed their asses off while I was still paralyzed of what just happened.

I've had a few stuff happening in this game in the past but this one always comes back to my mind.

In my first match, i cleansed a hex totem which was haunted after that I've always thought cleansing those lit totems make you exposed so avoided them for a while

I didn't know you could lunge

I learned you could do it when they released the first in-game tutorial back in 2018
