NOED and why it doesnt need a nerf
Hex:No One Escapes Death, better known as noed, is a perk that causes all survivors to be exposed once the last generator is done-as long as there is 1 dull totem left on the map. This, on paper, sounds like a very good perk, and it is against players that dont know it exists.
Ive been recently playing a lot of survivor. Noed is in about 5/10 games i play. The killer gets 1 kill with it if theyre lucky, and its usually never me. Keep in mind this is soloq. I play as Mikaela Reid usually. That means in order to get use out of one of the perks i bring (COH), i need to find a dull totem. I do, i bless it, and i cleanse any other totems i see. This just flat out negates noed. No totem to put it on, no noed, so its an easy counter.
"BUT JINX3D", i hear you cry like everyone does on these forums "SOLO Q IS HARD, PEOPLE BARELY DO GENS AND ESPECIALLY NOT TOTEMS"
Then do it yourself. Or just leave. If you know someone is working on the last gen, get close to a gate. Dont wanna deal with noed? leave. Not every game needs to be a 4 man escape, and if youre playing soloq, youre almost definitely NEVER seeing these people again. Plus-its a video game! Losing is a part of the game. If you lost, the killer won, that means they did theyre job. The only changes i would give to noed arent buffs or nerfs, simply changes. Make it so there is some indicator to look out for. Not just saying youre exposed from NOED, something like a loud thunder crash or a glow in the killers eyes to show that they have noed without flat out telling you. This tells you that they have noed, while keeping the surprise factor of it-the part that makes the perk genuinely scary. Also, GIVE A BUILT IN TOTEM COUNTER! We shouldnt need perks to have this. obvious feature

Noed doesnt need a nerf, solo q needs a buff to be on par with the information you get from swf.

One of the biggest problems with NOED is that perk alone is raising killers skill based match making because from what I’ve heard kills is what raises your MMR not hooks.. So if I’m a wraith and all 5 gens get done with only 3hooks and no kills but I manage to kill all the survivors during EGC or prior because of noed then my SBMM goes up even though I couldn’t kill anyone prior to noed activating because I’m inexperienced against good survivors…

like i said NOED rarely gets kills. When i use it or when its used against me, its like 2 kills max. MMR should be removed entirely

I agree with this. This is an actual good argument. With that being said, that shows less of noed being a problem and more mmr being a joke

Who does this perk really affect? Good SWF players will rarely let NOED activate. It's the solo players that this perk hurts the most, and that isn't a good thing. Solo is the weakest thing in the game (can be the most unfun tp play as well). Doing bones just isn't always possible when playing alone. It's not a healthy perk at all.

Yes and no.
What solo queue needs is a more robust way to communicate with everyone. That is all.
If you were going to buff solo, you'd have to buff killers to compensate. Far, far too many killers have been nerfed even in the last year (despite mediocre performance in high MMR play) because they give low MMR/solos a hard time.
That would require BHVR to revert nerfs, which is something they've always been very reluctant to do.

The reason why people have an issue with NOED is because you dont know if the killer has it, meaning you could be cleansing all 5 Totems for nothing
I would actually like seeing NOED or something with a similar effect to be basekit, this would add a proper 2nd objective for Survivors, making them have to choose between getting gens done as fast as possible but risk the killer becoming more powerful in the endgame, or spend a bit of time working on totems to prevent that power up

Yes lets buff solo q until its to the point where its swf levels... How about no, remove swf and keep the game how it was originally made which was 4 random survivors vs the killer.

100% of peoples issues with noed stem from it feeling unfair when the killer is "less skilled"
On the face of it, the perk is fine, counter able, and has other, better alternatives to get instadowns, you could reduce the speed boost, give it a short delay before activating, bring in more incentives to do bones and it would still be complained about, because it allows a killer that gets 0 hits all game to seemingly steal a kill,
So you either remove/rework the perk entirely, or accept that if not noed, it would be bbq, or any other perk deemed to be "low skill" that can be complained about and instead balance perks around how effective they actually are as opposed to player perception.

People on this forum are trying very hard not to get hit back. There is no realistic way to counter noed
But I think the balance is right because it affects only egc
and nobody says that most killers are weak enough that noed doesn't feel like cheating

There are two realistic ways to counter NOED, and one sort of unrealistic way to counter NOED. The unrealistic way is the much-memed "do bones", and the two realistic ways are "keep track of where bones are so you can cleanse it once it activates" or "leave as quickly as possible".
Obviously, yeah, NOED on Nurse or Spirit is gonna be rough, but that's because those killers are incredibly strong, not because NOED is unfair/OP/uncounterable.
A moderately strong effect that can be both completely prevented and disabled after it activates, that only activates in a very short window, and that also requires you to have not played awfully before it does activate to get actual value from it doesn't need a rework, and isn't an unhealthy design.
(Though obviously obligatory comment that it should announce itself when it activates, not when the first survivor is hit)

NOED is an awful perk that doesn't work in the current state of the game because it awards poor game-play.
I've just had 3 back to back NOED games, where all the killers were bad at gen/map pressure, and at most had two hooks prior to end-game. In literally all of the games, they down'd 2-3 survivors, but were too greedy for one survivor and that's what let them down in the end.
These killers are being boosted by a bad perk, whilst having no proper skills to match against the survivors that they are playing with.
