Original Chapter Idea - Hunting Grounds
So, about a year ago, maybe longer, I came up with an idea for a completely original chapter based around the main protagonist and the monster from a horror story I had in the works. I ended up finding the images and writing for it, so I figured I could put it here for people to see! Who knows, maybe some people around here can even help work out some ideas for this whole thing or for the perks since the ideas for them are... a bit outdated now, although I've reworked them to hopefully be a bit better. This whole thing comes with backgrounds for two characters, perk and power descriptions that I, to the best of my abilities, tried to write as if they would be the final version put into the game. So, without further ado:
New Killer - The Watcher
Background - The darkness holds many horrors, and in the moonlit depths of the woods, one of those horrors thrived. The Watcher once lived in the forest around the town of Little Rock, stalking and hunting prey one by one like clockwork, with a body suited for hunting down prey and tearing them to shreds efficiently. Ears and hairs that can detect movement and sound with terrifying accuracy, sharp claws that can pierce skin and bone, and eyes that see anything in the dark of the night. The only way to survive The Watcher’s hunt was to hide, and hope that it never found you.
Power - Watchful Eyes
Passive Gaze - Each trial begins in this state. In this state, you are granted the undetectable status effect and move slower than survivors. Using the ability key will allow you to stalk survivors, and doing so will begin to fill an indicator on the survivor you are stalking. Only one survivor may be stalked at a time, and if a survivor is not fully stalked, the progress will regress. Once a survivor is fully stalked, The Watcher lets out a loud screech that can be heard by all survivors as it enters the "Aggressive Hunt" state.
Aggressive Hunt - You have decided who your target will be and begin the hunt. In this state, only the stalked survivor can be seen. Other survivors and their scratch marks and blood pools can not be seen, but all survivors become exposed for the duration of this state. The Watcher moves at a considerably increased speed and has an increased lunge attack. Pallets are broken faster and it takes far less time to vault through windows. Upon hitting your target, another survivor, or upon your power gauge depleting, you will enter the Passive state once more.
The Watcher’s three teachable perks help it hunt down and instill fear in its prey:
Sharp Ears - Your sense of hearing has been heightened by the Entity’s immeasurable power. All sounds made by survivor interactions can be heard from an extra 4/8/12 meters away.
Horrific Gaze - Your presence inflicts fear into those who see you. When a survivor is within 16 meters of you, they are afflicted by the exhausted effect for 10 seconds. Horrific Gaze will then enter a cooldown for 60/45/30 seconds.
Menacing Aura - Chasing your victims instills panic and insanity. Upon entering a chase, survivors are afflicted by the blindness status effect for the duration of the chase.
New Survivor - Johnson Smith
Background - A talented man with a strong academic career and a full life ahead of him, all of which came to a halt upon the death of his father. Struck with grief, he decided to visit an old town called Little Rock to lift his spirits before he went back home. What he found instead was terror, death, and paranoia. Barely able to survive, Johnson did his best to write down his story and his findings about the creature that was attacking the town, until he was finally able to escape. It was only temporary however, for as he drove away a thick fog began to form around him before he fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up, he was in what seemed to be the same woods surrounding him before, but he could feel the malevolent and watchful eyes of the very monster he’d sought to escape.
Useful Notes - You are skilled at keeping track of the things you find. When uninjured, using the interact key will allow you to see any generator, totem, chest or hook you have previously interacted with.
Careful Watch - You are acutely aware of when beasts are watching you, and know how to identify them in the darkness. Any time your aura is revealed to the killer, you are able to see the killer for 3/4/5 seconds.
Hiding Spot - You are familiar with hiding from watching eyes, and it brings you a sense of safety. While in a locker, slowly heal up to a maximum of 30/40/50% health.
